A little behind today. Bought a bb gun to try to see if I can get rid of the woodpeckers in my tree. Now I think it’s too heartless!
Yeah! This is happening! It’s a Thursday night, but damn it, I might have to get my ass on a train and get down there. The Pulse Of Radio says just off the release of their new single, “Run,” Foo Fighters announce they will be the first headlining act to christen The Anthem, a new venue in Washington, D.C.
Fake news 😉 outlet The Washington Post said venue owners I.M.P.‘s new concert hall at The Wharf on D.C.‘s Southwest waterfront, has an opening act. Foo Fighters — led by Virginia-bred rocker Dave Grohl — is set to headline the venue’s first show on Oct. 12, I.M.P., the company behind the 9:30 Club, announced yesterday.
“There was never any question about who would open. There was no Plan B,” I.M.P. chairman and 9:30 Club and The Anthem co-owner Seth Hurwitz said in a statement.
With a capacity of 2,500 to 6,000, The Anthem will be somewhat of an intimate setting for a band that’s played huge arenas and festivals. Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl is from the D.C. area and points out how this is more than just a show. In talking about his 30 year friendship with the venue’s co-owner, he said, “He cares about the music. He cares about the audience. He cares about the band. And he knows what he’s doing.”
Foo Fighters will play Oct 12 and tickets go on sale this Friday (Jun 16) at 10 AM. Tickets will range from $100-$175, so save your sheckles. www.foofighters.com www.ticketfly.com
Dunno why, but I guess it amazes Lars Ulrich that Metallica keeps getting bigger and bigger, with fans who have stayed with them long enough to have kids that are fans!
He’s been quoted as saying, “We’re back playing in America, playing in the heartland, and there’s a lot of young kids who’ve never seen Metallica before,” he continued. “I just did my meet-and-greet earlier, and I think about a third of the people in the meet-and-greet have never seen Metallica before, so there’s still this kind of revolving door happening.”
“I’m not gonna sit here and try to intellectualize why it’s still working, but the fact that people still keep showing up is amazing. I’d say the main difference now from twenty years ago or whatever is just that we’re more appreciative of it and we’re more aware of how blessed we are and how fortunate we are to have this insane life and that people keep showing up and that music still has the ability to unite people.”
I love it! Lars, you are THE BEST!
Another tour going on sale Friday, only for our European friends! Five Finger Death Punch unites with renowned chart-topping European icons In Flames to co-headline what promises to be the biggest and most exciting arena rock tour of fall/winter 2017. This marks the very first time that these two juggernauts have joined forces on the road together, and it’s a “can’t miss” moment for the genre and fans at large. Of Mice & Men join the trek Nov 26 on.
The trek ravages arenas across Europe beginning in Nov, stopping in most major cities, and concluding Dec 21 at iconic Wembley Arena in London, U.K. General ticket on sale will take place this Friday, June 16 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
And speaking of Death Punch, guitarist Jason Hook is the executive producer of the rock documentary, Hired Gun, directed by my pal Fran Strine. The film will be screening in theaters Thursday Jun 29! Please find a theatre near you and check it out!
Hmmmm…..hints from Ozzy Osbourne that another combination of Ozzfest Meets Knotfest is in the works. Blabbermouth says Ozzy has hinted at the return of Ozzfest Meets Knotfest, a combination of the two hard rock and metal events that first took place last September at San Manuel Amphi and Festival Grounds in San Bernardino, CA.
A new post on Osbourne’s Facebook page features a picture of the singer on stage with guitarist Zakk Wylde along with the caption, “Hey Zakk, should we do an #Ozzfest this year?” A follow-up Facebook post notes that an “Ozzfest Meets Knotfest 2017 Announcement” is coming on July 10.
Last year’s Ozzfest lineup was headlined by Black Sabbath, while Slipknot closed out the Knotfest bill. But this year, there is no Slipknot tour. Would they do a one-off show? Wonderers are wondering……..
