Oh MAN! Marilyn Manson is at it AGAIN! After watching his sort of bizarre interview at the Alternative Press Music Awards Jul 18th, now comes reports of his bizarre behavior on stage from The Pulse Of Radio!
In video footage taken at a recent show in Hershey, PA, Manson could be seen incoherently grunting, struggling to stay on his feet and messing around with equipment while singing “The Beautiful People.” During that same show, Manson told a member of his crew, “Don’t give me an uppity look, because you’re not black.”
Meanwhile, at a show Wednesday night (July 27th) in Bristow, VA, Manson appeared to be either extremely intoxicated or high and fell off the stage, also while singing “The Beautiful People.” Manson also canceled a Jul 21st show in Quebec City due to “illness” just minutes before he was supposed to take the stage, and wandered offstage for 10 minutes at what was described as a “disappointing” gig in Montreal on July 20th.
While some fans defended Manson’s performance in Bristow, a fan named Austin4X wrote on YouTube Manson was “obviously inebriated,” adding, “Could barely understand anything he said all night. Show seemed like one long temper tantrum from start to finish with 10 minute breaks between every song.”
Manson told us a while back no one should ever expect a “safe” show from him: “The element of unpredictability and chaos always reigns free with Marilyn Manson because that’s what we’re about. And that’s never gonna change, no matter how much, you know, we bring to a show. It’s always gonna be raw, and that is what rock and roll is about, you know, as far as I’m concerned.”]
Manson and Slipknot next pull into Clarkston, MI tonight (Jul 29th).
Manson has announced he’s releasing a new album called SAY10 next year on Valentine’s Day (which isn’t even a day of the week the industry releases records. Poor Manson, he is once again coming apart at the seams. Hello, management, rehab!)
Pulse is also reporting Metallica: Back To The Front, the long-awaited book on the making of Metallica‘s classic 1986 album Master Of Puppets, will see publication on Sep 13th. A special “Collector’s Edition” of the tome will be available two weeks earlier on Aug 30th through Metallica.com and MoonriseMedia.net. The band said in a statement, “Two years in the making, we’re beyond excited to finally share it with you . . . We hit the storage lockers, attics and basements to fill the book with hundreds of never-before-seen images pulled from our personal archives and have been involved every step of the way to bring you the complete story.”
Written by Matt Taylor, the book’s deluxe edition will come in a special case that includes a limited edition copy of the 276-page book and a portfolio containing a piece of an original roadcase used to ship the band’s equipment to Denmark for the recording of the album and on the tour that followed its release.
Among the people interviewed for the book were all the members of Metallica, producer Flemming Rasmussen, mixer Michael Wagener, members of the band’s road crew and the bands who toured with them in 1986, Anthrax and Armored Saint.
Also sitting for interviews were the band’s booking agent, tour promoters and managers, Faith No More guitarist Jim Martin and drummer Mike Bordin, and late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton‘s father Ray.
Metallica is also working on a remastered deluxe reissue of Master Of Puppets, although a release date has yet to be determined. The band stated, “As we keep digging in the vaults, we’re finding more and more music and video so that we can bring you an even bigger, more comprehensive, no stone-unturned version of the album.”
The new Metallica album, its first since 2008, is tentatively due out later this year.
To commemorate the release of the book, Metallica plans to give away a limited edition “Master Of Puppets” guitar.
All 11 shows from the band’s 2006 summer tour of Europe — on which it played Master Of Puppets every night in its entirety — are now available on CD from the band’s online store. Master Of Puppets was released on Feb 24th, 1986 and was the first album Metallica recorded after signing a major label deal with Elektra Records. The set has sold over six million copies in the U.S. since.
Islander releases its sophomore album, Power Under Control, next Friday (Aug 5th) and kicked off a lengthy headlining tour to promote it yesterday (Jul 28th) in St. Louis, MO. The new record features an entirely new lineup built around singer and sole original member Mikey Carvajal. Among the new members is drummer Arin Ilejay, who was dismissed last year from Avenged Sevenfold after a four-year stint with that group.
The new disc is due out on Aug 5th and follows up 2014’s debut, Violence & Destruction, which featured the rock radio tracks “New Wave” and “Cold Speak.” The first official single from the new CD is “Bad Guy.” See Road Rage for their tour dates!
Finally today, Jack & Ozzy Osbourne are out and about promoting their new tv series, “OZZY & JACK’S WORLD DETOUR” on the History Channel. Here they are with Jimmy Kimmel. Check it out!
