Good day! And a busy day in the hardDriveRadio NYC studios! 10 Years and Hollywood Undead dropping by today. And we’re just about finished with the new hardDrive ONLINE video interview with We Are Harlot. I think you are gonna love the new format! Will let you know when it makes it’s debut on the app and our YouTube Channel……Well, I was, as I am sure you were as well, SHOCKED to hear the news about THIS! Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson was reportedly stabbed in the head during a knife fight with his brother on Wednesday morning (March 11th) at Thomson’s Clive, Iowa home, according to the Des Moines Register. Although he was not identified conclusively as the Slipknot musician, the 41-year-old man named in the incident, Mickeal Gordon Thomson, is believed to be him. According to police, the altercation between Mickeal and his 35-year-old brother Andrew started inside Mickeal’s home in Clive, Iowa and spilled into the front yard about 4:25 a.m., where it became physical. When officers arrived, the two men appeared to be intoxicated and had sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, with the 41-year-old Mickeal suffering a stab wound to the back of his head. Both men were transported to local hospitals in separate ambulances but no charges had been filed at press time. Slipknot singer Corey Taylor seemed to confirm that this was the Slipknot guitarist when he tweeted, “In regards to the story about Mick, I’m doing the best I can to find out if he’s alright. I’ll get back to you later.” Taylor later posted, “Mick Update: from what I’ve heard he’s okay. We’re sending him all your thoughts. Thank you for that.” Slipknot just got back from a stint on Australia’s Soundwave Festival tour and will launch a spring U.S. trek on April 25th in Fort Myers, FL, ending on May 16th in Grand Rapids, MI. Do you think maybe they were just goofing around reenacting a scene from The Walking Dead? Geez! In other news, the BluRay & DVD of Fear Clinic, the horror film starring Robert Englund and Corey Taylor is out. Check out this great rundown from Blabbermouth, including 4 trailers on the “making of”…Pulse Of Radio also reporting this morning Muse has set June 9th as the release date for its seventh studio album, for which the title has been officially confirmed as Drones. A new track called “Psycho” will become available at the band’s YouTube page today (Mar 12th) at 2:00 p.m. ET. Pre-orders of the album will begin 90 minutes later, with anyone who places an order getting a free download of the new song. Muse is still in the process of mixing the album. Drummer Dominic Howard told us a while back that the band doesn’t always know when it’s done with a piece of music: “Finishing songs is actually the hardest thing to do. We know when something’s done when we’re, you know, all three of us are like totally on the same page. You know, we can all be on the same page and then someone kind of loses it or has different ideas, or someone says, ‘Oh, I’m not sure about this,’ and then something just balances out between the three of us and we’re like, ‘Yes, that’s done.’ And I think that’s the point where we kind of stamp it and go, ‘Cool, that’s finished.’” The first official single, “Dead Inside,” will arrive on Mar 23rd. Frontman Matt Bellamy hinted in a statement the album might be conceptual in nature, saying, “To me, ‘Drones’ are metaphorical psychopaths which enable psychopathic behavior with no recourse. The world is run by Drones utilizing Drones to turn us all into Drones. Drones explores the journey of a human, from their abandonment and loss of hope, to their indoctrination by the system to be a human drone, to their eventual defection from their oppressors.” Muse will launch a six-date tour of the U.K. later this month as well, all at small venues. There is no word yet on North American tour plans. Drones will follow up 2012’s The 2nd Law, which featured the chart-topping “Madness” and the Number Two single “Panic Station.”….Slash has revealed in a new interview with Classic Rock magazine he is already at work on music for his fourth studio album as a solo artist. Asked if he had given any thought yet to a follow-up to last year’s World On Fire, Slash replied, “I’ve already started working on the new stuff . . . On the road is the platform that I find is the easiest for me to work on new material. It’s easier here than it is for me to do when I’m at home. So I just get going.” The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist added, “I take my phone and I record ideas on the phone and then we jam stuff at soundchecks; when we have soundchecks. So we compile a bunch of ideas, and then when the tour is over, we go home and, sort of, hash them out.” I asked Slash a while back what he likes to do in his downtime: “Work (laughs). Really, downtime, you know — unfortunately for most people around me, I don’t relax well. So I have to be busy and I have to be focused on something. For me, it’s fine. It keeps me out of trouble, but for everybody else, it’s sort of like, ‘Can’t you just sort of chill, you know?’ But it doesn’t work.” Sadly, I can relate……The trailer for the HBO documentary on Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, Montage of Heck, has been posted online. It’s a very unique and stark view of a reluctant and tormented rock star who only wanted to make music. I’m reposting it with the Rolling Stone story on it. Set your DVR for May 4th on HBO.
