The band has issued a statement following the death of documentary filmmaker Bruce Sinofsky, who with Joe Berlinger, co-directed the groundbreaking, controversial film Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sinofsky passed away at the age of 58 from complications due to a long battle with diabetes. Metallica’s statement said in part, “We lost a valued member of our family today . . . Smart, funny and dedicated, Bruce was with us almost every day in the early 2000s and was an integral part of helping us to navigate the rough waters during those times. Although not very welcomed at times, he was there through some of the darkest times of Metallica. He became a dedicated comfort and visual lifeboat, while objectively observing the unraveling and rebuilding of our inner and outer selves.” The band added, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Bruce’s family and friends. We will miss Bruce. A courageous man with deep empathy and wisdom who wasn’t afraid to dig deep to tell the story.” Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster was released in 2004 and followed the band through the three most turbulent years of their career, during which they battled through addiction, lineup changes, fan backlash, personal turmoil and the near-disintegration of the group during the making of their St. Anger album. A 10th anniversary Blu-ray of Some Kind Of Monster was released last November. Sinofsky and Berlinger first came to prominence with their trilogy of Paradise Lost films, which covered the trial of three teens known as the West Memphis Three who were wrongfully accused of the murder of three little boys. The films helped to lead to their eventual release from prison after over 18 years behind bars. Sinofsky also worked in the last decade on the Sundance Channel series Iconoclasts and History’s 10 Days That Unexpectedly Changed America, along with numerous other film and television projects….Stone Temple Pilots frontman Chester Bennington is in the studio recording with the band, despite the severity of the injury to his leg that put an end to his touring with his other band Linkin Park. STP guitarist Dean DeLeo issued an update on Bennington’s condition in a conversation with Mistress Carrie on WAAF-FM. DeLeo states: “He’s healing pretty quickly. He’s just of that mindset and physicality where he wills his body to do that. He hurt himself badly. It was not only a break — the guy tore darn near every ligament in his ankle. They had to go in on each side. He has about a five-inch incision on each side. They had to go in and assemble a big bowl of spaghetti.” Ugh. Been trying to get with Chester on the hotLine, but due to insurance issues with their tour being cancelled, he can not talk to the media. Hopefully, soon! We wish him a speedy recovery!….This I wanna see for myself! LOL There’s nothing wrong with boasting as long as it’s for a good cause. Slipknot’s frontman Corey Taylor has revealed a less-known but totally laudable side of his personality: speedy diaper changing! Taylor tells X3M: “I can change a diaper in 15 seconds – and I mean clean, gone, in, done, boom, pants back on. I’m a good dad, hopefully.” Taylor, who has three children (one is a 6-moths old,) told us a while back becoming a father changed his life significantly: “It definitely makes you re-evaluate how you live your life. It definitely makes you realize that, you know, when you have family, it makes you want to try as hard as you can to spend the rest of your life with them, you know?” Love that!…..He’s always been a muscular man, now he has the car to prove it! LOL Pulse Of Radio also reporting this morning AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson was the first in line to snap up an extremely limited edition Mustang GT. The car, created by Ford Motor Company and Petty’s Garage, will be a 627-horsepower limited edition fastback inspired by Petty’s Garage’s Mustang GT that was displayed to great acclaim at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. Just 43 cars will be created, with just 42 left. Says Johnson about his new purchase: “This Mustang has just taken my breath away. It really is one of the best cars I’ve ever driven. I didn’t have an American car, but I do now!” We asked Johnson not long ago how his fascination with cars began: “I don’t know. It’s probably because we were born with no money and it was always something you dreamt of. You saw one driving past, you know, you’d go, ‘Gosh, darn it, I wonder what it’s like to have one of them.’ But I mean, it was — it went beyond that, you know, I just loved these motorcars, these things that you could get in and do anything. You could go anywhere, you know. And people were actually then mobile, you know, they could do things that they’d never dreamt of before.” ….Finally today, video footage from the pre-production of Rob Zombie’s new movie, 31, has been released. Zombie recently revealed that he had launched a campaign to crowdfund 31. Zombie tells Revolver magazine: “[A] movie that you could get made years ago, you cannot get made anymore, because the business changes, things change. And I’ve noticed that, there’s also a lot of aspects of the crowdfunding that were sort of taking place already, where people always wanna buy props or own a piece of the movie or somehow be involved after the fact, whereas after the fact, there’s nothing much to be involved with. So what I liked about crowdfunding — ’cause it wasn’t something I… I, like most people, it’s new to them — is I thought, this is a way to get a movie made that you know the fans want that studios are a little ‘iffy’ on, and they can be involved too in a way that they would like to be involved, through things that have gone on in the past that I’ve noticed. So it seems sort of like a logical progression for a film like this.” To motivate potential funders, Zombie offered autographed posters, a winner’s name in the credits, props from his previous movies including masks from Halloween and giant crosses from House of 1000 Corpses, a lifetime laminate to see any Zombie show anywhere and a chance to appear as an extra in 31. The movie follows five people who are kidnapped in the five days leading up to Halloween and depicts their fight for survival. In order to stay alive, the hostages play an opponent-killing game called “31.” Discussing his inspiration for the movie, Zombie said: “I was reading this statistic: Halloween is the Number One day of the year when people go missing for some reason. I thought, ‘What an interesting premise for a film.’ This is five people that go missing on each day leading up to Halloween and what happens to them on the 31st.” Watch Rob do some location scouting for the film. His Spookshow International Live cd is out tomorrow!….Happy 63rd today to Brad Whitford of Aerosmith. Happy 32nd to actor/comedian Aziz Ansari and Happy BELATED 33 to Halestorm’s Joe Hottinger!
