Holy Nelly! What is up with this Stapp Family Feud? I don’t know what to believe! As Pulse Of Radio reports, every day brings a new twist in the ongoing drama of Creed singer Scott Stapp. Shortly after Stapp’s estranged wife Jaclyn and her sister called 911 to report of a shirtless Stapp was riding a bike outside, claiming he was a CIA operative on a mission to assassinate President Obama, Stapp issued a lengthy denial on Facebook — a denial that was later deleted. Stapp’s post read in part he was addressing the “vicious lies” being spread about him, saying, “In no way, shape or form are any of these accusations true. I am 100% sober and 100% mentally sane and stable.” He indicates that documents proving his stability will be given to the judge hearing his wife’s case to have him placed in a psychiatric hold, adding that he will also present documents from the Hazleton-Betty Ford Center certifying his sobriety. Stapp wrote, “After two weeks of meetings with appropriate departments, voluntarily submitting to a clinical diagnostic evaluation, and blood and urine tests, Hazelton-Betty Ford Center is preparing official documents validating what I have been saying all along. I am not, nor have been on drugs or drinking and am not suffering from any mental health issues.” Stapp maintained the “lies” were leveled against him after he ”discovered multiple counts of financial fraud and embezzlement . . . official reports will be provided next week hopefully ending the circus so the real issues at hand can be addressed.” As for the charges of threatening to kill the President, Stapp wrote, “I have nothing but sincere respect, love and admiration for President Obama. The recent report claiming I am delusional, and claiming I’m a CIA agent with evil intent towards our beloved President is a joke. I’m shocked the press even covered such a ridiculous story. My history supporting our troops and this great country of ours should speak for itself.” According to People magazine, the Secret Service was alerted to the alleged threats and taking “appropriate action.” It was reported over the weekend Stapp had lost custody of his children and barred from his home by a judge as a result of the bizarre events of the past month. His wife and family members claim he has been on drug binge during that time, with his wife filing for divorce, while Stapp has insisted that he’s been the victim of an attack that has left him nearly broke and homeless. Meanwhile, TMZ has posted recordings of phone calls made by Scott to 911, along with a conversation between Stapp and the dean of his son’s school. In the first call, Stapp tells a 911 operator that people were are out to kill him, while in the second, Stapp tells the same dispatcher that he’s been on the run for 36 straight hours attempting to avoid 15 vehicles following him. In the third call, Stapp asks the dean of his 16-year-old son Jagger’s school to get him on the phone immediately. He insists members of his own family are part of the ISIS terrorist group and Florida has been targeted for an attack. In the fourth call, Stapp is back on the line with 911, accusing his estranged wife of stealing his car. Wow. This is cray cray…..This is also from Pulseand this is very cool! I would like to make a trip out there for this event! Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell will join Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, drummer Barrett Martin and the Seattle Symphony next month for a special concert titled “Sonic Evolution.” Cornell and the band will perform three Mad Season songs as well as the debut of an original symphonic work by McCready titled “Waking The Horizon.” Original Mad Season members McCready and Martin will be joined by Cornell and McKagan for three songs — “River Of Deceit,” “I Don’t Know Anything” and “Long Gone Day.” The original Mad Season lineup featured late musicians Layne Staley on vocals and John Baker Saunders on bass. Mad Season’s sole album, 1995’s Above, was reissued last year and McCready told us not long ago that revisiting it was bittersweet: “That was a record I couldn’t listen to for a really long time, just because of Layne and Baker both dying, and the darkness that had kind of followed that record. I’m very proud of it, and a lot of fans have come up to me and said that it’s their favorite record and it’s made a difference in their lives, so that made me kind of happy to know that it did that.” This will be the Seattle Symphony’s fourth annual “Sonic Evolution” concert. It will take place on January 30th at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. Tckets start at $50 and may be purchased at the Seattle Symphony website, or by calling or visiting the box office. The event will also feature the premieres of orchestral works inspired by Nirvana and Pearl Jam…..Also from Pulse: Just two days after playing their first and only show of 2014 on Saturday night (December 13th) at a radio festival in Los Angeles (watch full show here) System Of A Down has confirmed a second U.S. date, also in Los Angeles, on April 6th. The show will take place before a string of European dates that begins on April 10th in London. The tour commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and will conclude on April 23rd with System Of A Down’s first-ever performance in their homeland of Armenia, in the city of Yerevan. Drummer John Dolmayan said in a statement. “It’s truly an honor for System Of A Down to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the Armenian Genocide by performing our first-ever concert on Armenian soil. But it’s equally important to show our appreciation to the people and the state of California who have succored the Armenian people in their time of greatest need and who have led the way in genocide recognition and legislation. Los Angeles, please honor us with your presence on April 6.” More than 1.5 million Armenians were killed by Turkey’s Ottoman Empire during the 1915 genocide, which Turkey continues to deny to this day. The country has even pressured the U.S. government to ignore Congressional resolutions acknowledging the genocide. System singer Serj Tankian told us a while back why the cause has been so important to the band. “The issue is denial. The issue is the first forgotten genocide of the 20th century, where one-and-a-half million Armenians perished. It’s an issue that’s not just political for us, but System Of A Down, being all of us of Armenian descent, it’s personal, you know. Our family trees can’t be completed. So it’s something that we want to bring awareness to the situation.” Tickets for the new Los Angeles show go on sale Dec 19th. The gig this past Saturday night was System’s first since a show in Italy in Aug 2013….Here’s an update on Phil Rudd’s case down in New Zealand: An unidentified man has claimed he was approached by AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd to work as Rudd’s bodyguard and not to kill two people, as originally reported when Rudd was arrested last month. According to the New Zealand Herald, Rudd offered the man nearly $200,000 and one of the drummer’s luxury cars as compensation. The man said he considered Rudd a “good fella” and that the entire incident was blown out of proportion. The murder-for-hire charged was dropped within hours of Rudd’s arrest at his New Zealand home on Nov 6th. Rudd does still face a charge of “threatening to kill” as a result of a phone call he placed to a contractor, in which he allegedly threatened the lives of the contractor and his daughter. Rudd, who also faces charges of possession of meth and marijuana, is due back in court on February 10th for a hearing on the “threatening to kill” charges. Rudd’s legal situation makes his position with AC/DC unclear at the moment. Although he did play on the band’s newly released album, Rock Or Bust, the group has not said whether he will be part of the lineup on next year’s world tour. Last I heard, unless Phil can’t work this legal situation out to be ready to go out in May with the band, they may be forced to replace him on the road until Phil sorts himself out. We’ll see what happens…..And our friends at Loudwire report Metallica is extending its sports partnerships beyond baseball and into hockey. The band will join the San Jose Sharks on January 21st, 2015 against current Stanley Cup holders the Los Angeles Kings for a night of “Metalli-hockey mayhem.” Metallica said in a statement, “We’ll be on hand for the first strains of ‘Seek & Destroy,’ kick off the game with the puck drop, and partake in some of the intermission fun and games that Sharks fans know and love.” “Metallica Night” tickets go on sale this Wednesday, December 17th and include a “Metalli-Sharks” shirt with a portion of the sales benefiting the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the Sierra Club. The band will also return to AT&T Park for the third annual “Metallica Night” with the San Francisco Giants in May..Find all the deets on Fort Rock and Welcome To Rockville in Road Rage!…Happy 65th to my childhood pal Billy F.
