Ya know, last time I interviewed Chad Kroeger, it was backstage at Madison Square Garden when he said he proposed to Avril Lavigne. And like the good mom I can be, I said, “Really? How long have you known each other?” And when they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on a wedding in a villa in the south of France, I said to myself, “I hope this lasts!” But viola! Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger and pop singer Avril Lavigne are reportedly headed for divorce after a year of marriage, according to Us Weekly. Inside sources revealed, “It’s over. He has been going around L.A. telling people that they are divorcing.” The 39-year-old Kroeger proposed to the 29-year-old Lavigne in August 2012 after dating for just a few months. The couple were married in July 2013. There has been no public hint of trouble in the marriage, with Lavigne just this past July showing off a 17-carat emerald-cut ring that Kroeger gave her for their first anniversary. But a source told E! News that the couple is having “a lot of issues,” explaining, “When they met, they were in work mode. They were doing a collaboration and that’s where the attraction stemmed from. She was in the studio and he was producing her. She was also coming off some bad relationships where she didn’t really feel appreciated as an artist. She felt she and Chad connected on that level.” So how did Avril’s album do, mmmm, not so well. The same source told E! that Lavigne “was hoping, after this album, to take time off and start a family.” That could conflict with Kroeger’s own career plans. Nickelback is set to release its eighth studio album, No Fixed Address, on November 4th, and plans to hit the road in early 2015 for a lengthy world tour in support of the new record. Lavigne was married once before, to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley. That marriage ended in 2009 after three years. Mom’s advice, stay single for a while….People are so gullible, (yes, I am one) but this story is downright stoopid! Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix gave a surprising if not outright disturbing answer when asked by Hit The Floor magazine if he could remember his first kiss. Shaddix replied, “My first kiss was when my uncle kissed me and he gave me herpes. It was terrible. Anybody else got herpes? Yeah, you do. Don’t lie to yourself. I know you got it, you watching this.” Shaddix did not elaborate on the incident or whether he was even joking or not (Oh, come ON!) Asked what message he has for fans, Shaddix stated, “If I’ve got a message to my fans, it’s go be yourself. You know what I’m saying? No matter what’s going on out there in the world, believe in yourself and go be yourself, because that’s what the world wants from you — is you to be you, and not you to be a copy of somebody else. You know what I’m saying? That’s what P-Roach is about. We’re just us.” Waiting to find out what the deal is with their new single and album. I know Kevin Churko produced it out in Vegas, and a single is coming in the near future. More on that as I get it…Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor recently tried his hand at acting in the new horror film Fear Clinic, and now fans who will be in Los Angeles next month will get a chance to see if he’s got the talent to make in that business. The film will have its worldwide premiere on Oct 22nd at the Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Los Angeles. The film stars Robert Englund, best known as Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare On Elm Street movies, as a doctor who uses unorthodox methods to treat patients at his clinic who suffer from fear-based phobias. Taylor appears as a clinic employee named Bauer who struggles to keep things under control when all hell breaks loose. He told me the part was only going to a small role, but once they started to film, the director wanted more from him and gave his character a larger role. Taylor told us his first time acting in a film was a great experience: “I really kind of lucked out because the scenes that I had with Robert, we’d be talking eye lines and ‘you should react like this’ and ‘you should, you know, kind of do this and that.’ And Rob Hall, the director, I mean he was very, very specific about what he wanted to see and what he wanted to capture, but at the same time very loose. He was like, ‘Make it feel normal.’ And the cast was great, so it was very cool.”…Metallica has announced via the band’s official website that it will release all 27 shows it played in 2014 on CD before the year is out. The band’s statement said, “Starting today through the end of this year, every show that we’ve played in 2014 will be released on CD! We are gonna roll out three shows at a time on Mondays.” The shows will be released in order, starting with a Mar 16th gig in Bogota, Colombia and ending with a concert at the “Heavy Montreal” festival in Montreal on Aug 9th….Avenged Sevenfold has released a video for the song “Chapter Four,” featuring black and white live footage of the band shot over a decade ago and highlighting the late Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan on drums. The song is included on the recently released deluxe reissue of the group’s second effort, Waking The Fallen, which contains the entire 2003 album, 11 never-before-heard songs and a 30-minute documentary….And finally today, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong will join Alice Cooper, Joan Jett, Darlene Love and others on Oct 23rd for the sixth annual Little Kids Rock Benefit in New York. Jett will be honored as “Rocker of the Year” at the event, with proceeds going toward Little Kids Rock, which inspires children in disadvantaged public schools by overhauling their music programs.
