Good Thursday, but not so good for you Hawaiians out there. Hunker down, people!… Sharing this from Pulse of Radio: Foo Fighters posted an announcement on the band’s official Facebook page on Tuesday (Aug 5th) hinting at “big news” arriving next Monday (August 11th). The post simply stated, “Ladies and Gents…keep an eye out here for some big news coming on Monday.” It’s likely that the news will be related to the group’s eighth studio album, which is due out this fall. The Foos have yet to reveal a title or exact release date for the set. Producer Butch Vig recently said online that the album was finished after 23 days of mixing. The recording of the disc took place in iconic studios in eight different cities around the United States, with the Foos also collaborating with local artists in each region. The entire journey will be chronicled in Sonic Highways, an eight-part documentary directed by Dave Grohl that will premiere on HBO on October 17th. The band has described the show as not just a document of the making of its new album, but a “love letter to the history of American music.” When I contacted the Foos management, they told me it was to offer up new Foo Fighters t-shirts. Hmmmm. Sorry, not buying that one! LOL I don’t know about you, but I am on the edge of bursting on this one. I love Dave Grohl and all the things he’s involved with, including his directorial endeavors and I don’t know if I’m anticipating the album or the HBO series more. But never the less, it’ll be great to have the boys back….OK, let’s turn our attention to the dynamic 9 we know and love as Slipknot. My UK reader Ed Sutton shared some info he saw on MetalInjection.net, stating the info on the single title (which drops Aug 26.) But we are still not sure when the official announcement will be made as to (1.) who is going to be the touring bassist, (2.) who played bass on the record, (3.) who is the new drummer, (4.) what is the album title and (5.) what is the official release date. Speculators are speculating one of the current members played bass on the record. The drummer could or could not be Jay Weinberg, and the album could or could not be released on the Tuesday, Oct 22, right before the 3-day Knotfest. The touring bassist could or could not be Donnie Steele, who performed off stage on their last tour. These are all maybes…Evanescence singer Amy Lee will release a new album called Amy Lee Featuring Dave Eggar: Aftermath on Aug 25th via 110 Records, Inc. It’s a film score Lee collaborated with Eggar on for War Story, which premiered last January at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT. Lee told MTV News earlier this year that the score was unlike anything she had ever done before, explaining, “It’s not what you’d expect; the film is very dark, very introspective . . .it’s musical, but there are a lot of moments where Dave and I just built walls of sounds, out of blaring cellos and trombones and synthesizers and harp, all on top of each other. Sort of creating new sounds. It’s not, like, a soundtrack. it’s an atmosphere.” Lee wrote one new song for the film, called “Push The Button,” and called the entire project “really different, and freeing.” Long before recently becoming a first-time mother, Lee told us transitioning to full-time composing for films would be an ideal job for her: “I love scoring, so I’d love to do that. That would be fun. Like, if I ever wanna, like, be a mom and work at home, it’d be so awesome to just have a studio in my house and just work on scoring stuff. Not have to tour.” Perfect! Here’s the teaser….Congrats in order for Theory Of A Deadman‘s SaVages album, which is the Number 8 album on the Billboard Top 200 chart!….Celebrating their Life Day: Jamie Jasta of Hatebreed is 36, Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson is 56, X Files and Californication‘s David Duchovny is 54 and I can’t believe it, but Charlize Theron is the same age as me! 39! P.S. She downloaded the HARDDRIVERADIO APP! You should too!
