Hello folks! So Argentina vs Germany. This is going to be good! Fußball!! Lass uns gehen!…OK, so here’s the latest! Being a fan myself, I am interested in seeing this film! Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo has recorded a video message in support of actor Don Cheadle‘s Indiegogo campaign to fund Miles Ahead, Cheadle’s planned film tribute to the life and works of Miles Davis. Cheadle will make his directorial debut and star as the legendary trumpeter/avant garde/eccentric genius Davis in the film, which starts filming in Cincinnati this month. (Note: when I moved back to the city in ’93, I lived on West 76 St. The building I could see out my bedroom window was the only building on the block that wasn’t brick. It was painted BLACK. I always wondered who might’ve lived there. Mick Jagger maybe? But after reading Miles’ biography, I realized it was HIS home!) Trujillo recently produced a documentary about late, legendary bass player Jaco Pastorius. (Blabbermouth) …Lollapalooza is reportedly headed to Toronto. With the main festival established in Chicago and several offshoots in South America, organizers are apparently planning to launch a Canadian edition as well. Local promoter Jeff Cohen said, “Lollapalooza is surely coming to Toronto next August 2015, and it’ll be very interesting to see how that changes the summer landscape in our great city.” Lollapalooza organizers said “nothing is confirmed.” (Consequence Of Sound)….Congrats to Seether! Their new album, Isolate & Medicate, sold around 37,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week of release to debut at Number Four on the Billboard 200 album chart on Wednesday (July 09). It’s Seether’s fourth Top 10 debut and follows 2011’s Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray, which entered at Number Two with sales of 61,000 copies. The album’s first single, “Words As Weapons” is currently the Number One track on rock radio. Frontman Shaun Morgan told us the tune wasn’t originally meant to be on this album in the first place: “We originally wrote it for the singles collection that came out on Wind-Up Records last year, and we decided to keep it for the album because we liked the song. I feel like those singles things are normally just sort of a throwaway for a label or that the label uses to try and use as a cash cow, and so we didn’t want to, you know, in a sense waste a song that we thought was that good on something like that. So we just saved it for the album and it set the bar and the precedent for the rest of the album.” (Thanks Pulse Of Radio)…Theory Of A Deadman has unveiled the first leg of a fall North American tour in support of its fifth album, Savages. The trek kicks off on September 17th in Tempe, AZ with a dozen dates confirmed so far through Oct 11th in Cleveland. Fozzy will also be on the bill. Savages arrives on July 29th and Theory frontman Tyler Connolly told us the set brings the band back to its roots: “It’s a return to where we started. It really feels like a 360, it’s going back to our roots. I mean, it’s the kind of music we were writing when we were kids. I don’t want to say that our music got away from us, but the last couple of records, it was a little bit different than what we started out on. So this one is really back to the dark riff-rock that Theory Of A Deadman was when we started.” See all the dates in Road Rage….Meanwhile, Fozzy is making his return to the WWE! He will appear at the September Monday Night Raw and Night of Champions bouts. Watch out!…..AC/DC singer Brian Johnson told TeamRock Radio the band has completed it’s 16th album. Recorded in Vancouver with producer Brendan O’Brien (Seether, Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave), this will be the first record Angus Young’s brother Malcolm had to miss due to a rumored stroke. Their nephew, Stevie Young, is filling in on the album and subsequent tour. Stevie was called in to help out in 1988, when Mal entered rehab while the band was touring. Brian alluded the name of the record they are bantering around could be “Man Down” in reference to Malcolm. I suspect a fall or early winter release and tour are in the cards…..And finally today, Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers is quite the land baron. Wasn’t more than 5 years ago, he put his fabulous Malibu property on the market for several million and now his Los Angeles Hills home is up for sale. Check it out right here. It’s selling for $6.8 million (he purchased it 3 years ago for a mere 4.55 Million!) Nice profit, I’d say!….Elijah Blue Allman (son of Cher and Greg) turns 38 today. You might remember him as lead singer from Deadsy. What ever happened to them???
