Good day everyone! I gotta start today with a rant from our close, personal friend Corey Taylor of Slipknot & Stone Sour. If you’ve been following this whole Kiss drama where Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are coming up with reasons why the original Kiss line up (with Ace Frehley and Peter Criss) should not perform as part of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony next month. Here’s Corey weighing in on the whole situation: In an interview with Radio.com over the public feud between the current band members, Taylor said, “On one hand, you’re stoked being a Kiss fan, but on the other hand it’s like, ‘Can you guys just put aside your petty issues and realize that without one another you wouldn’t have been able to do this? Can you just set stuff aside and do one show for the fans of the original lineup again? And then you never have to see each other again?’” Kiss co-founders Simmons and Stanley firmly rejected the idea of performing at the induction ceremony with former founding members Criss and Frehley, despite the Hall’s and fans’ wishes. Taylor added, “Without (Frehley and Criss), the other two guys wouldn’t be where they are! And that’s just me layin’ it straight! I might not ever get a kind word from anybody in that band anymore. But I think it’s petty and I think it’s ridiculous! Figure it out! Show respect, because sometimes it’s not about you, it’s about the fans.” But Taylor, who has seen his share of turbulent times in Slipknot, admitted band relationships can be tricky. He said, “We’re just crazy people who can’t get along sometimes . . . Now add fame and money and all that rock and roll craziness to it — we’re lucky we don’t eat each other in this industry!” Kiss will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 10th at a ceremony in Brooklyn, New York, along with Nirvana, Linda Ronstadt and others. (Check th elatest online issue of Rolling Stone for more on this Kiss drama,) In the immortal words of Rodney King, “Can’t we all just get along?“…..Was happy to see that press release about the news of a new Bush album in the works in LA with producer Nick Raskulinecz! I mean, who HASN’T he produced this year??!! Love Nick! Anyhow, this album will be the sixth studio album for Bush, which will follow up the band’s 2011 comeback effort, The Sea Of Memories. The Gavin Rossdale-fronted band is working at Studio 606, the Northridge, California facility owned by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl. A release date has yet to be announced. Bush performed two new songs on their tour last year (and at Rock on the Range), “This House Is On Fire” and “Loneliness Is A Killer,” in support of The Sea Of Memories, although it’s unknown whether they’ll make the new record. 2014 also marks the 20th anniversary of Bush’s debut album, Sixteen Stone, which hit Number Four on The Billboard album chart and included the Number One hits “Comedown,” “Glycerine” and “Machinehead,” as well as “Everything Zen” and “Little Things.” Rossdale and his wife, No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani, welcomed their third son, Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, into the world on Feb 28th. Meanwhile, see the band performing “Burn This House Down” and the very hunky Chris Traynor! ;)…Was on the hotLine yesterday with Mike Kerr of Royal Blood. I quite like this new duo. Kerr (bassist/singer) along with Ben Thatcher (drummer) are making some noise with their latest US single “Out of the Black,” and their recently released UK single “Little Monster.” They hold the distinction as the only rock band chosen by the legendary BBC for their SOUND OF 2014 poll that is in progress now. Royal Blood will return to the U.S. for a short run of three live dates, including two in New York and one in Los Angeles in mid-May. The band will also come back in August to perform at Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival on Aug 3. Royal Blood are promoting their current EP, Out Of The Black, with the title track currently climbing the Modern Rock & Active Rock Top 30. Although Royal Blood follows in the two-piece tradition of bands like Local H, the White Stripes and the Black Keys, Kerr told us he and Thatcher are not influenced by those acts: “Our inspiration doesn’t necessarily draw from two-pieces. We draw influence quicker from bigger bands or four-pieces such as Led Zeppelin, Queens Of The Stone Age, the Foo Fighters, because we like that big sound. For us it was more about sounding bigger than two people, not like two people, so we found ourselves wanting to sound as big as a four-piece band even though there’s two of us.” The duo are currently headlining a sold-out tour of the U.K. on its own and also played four packed shows at the South By Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas. Tickets for the three newly announced U.S. dates will be available this Friday (March 28th) at 9:00 a.m. local time. Royal Blood will return to the studio later this spring to put the finishing touches on their debut full-length album, due to be released before the end of the year. (Thanks Pulse of Radio.)….Congrats to The Pretty Reckless. Their Going To Hell album debuted at Number 5 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart yesterday….And finally today, Barry Stock of Three Days Grace has launched his own clothing line called MEAN. The “rock and military” inspired selection includes clothes, jewelry and a wide range of accessories ranging from hats to skateboards. Stock said in a statement, “MEAN is about being aggressive, in a positive way. It is strength and confidence. To stand with purpose. It is a take charge mentality to go out there and give it your all. MEAN is fired by passion and the drive to succeed, to accomplish whatever it is you set out to achieve.” The line is available exclusively for now at the official MEAN website. Customers who purchase $25 or more of merchandise at the site will automatically be entered into a contest to win a signed guitar. In another contest, Stock is looking for the “MEANest Beard” out there. Fans can submit their photos for a chance to win a MEAN prize pack. Both contests end May 31st. Three Days Grace recently announced a string of tour dates for this spring, starting on April 17th in Memphis. The band has been working on its fifth studio album with their original producer Gavin Brown, who also produced the band’s first two records. On Monday, their new single “Painkiller” can be heard on hardDrive XL! The new music is their first with singer Matt Walst, brother of Three Days Grace bassist Brad Walst, who joined the band after the 2013 departure of original frontman Adam Gontier. The group’s final album with Gontier, 2012’s Transit Of Venus, is nominated for a Juno Award for Rock Album of the Year. The 2014 Juno Awards, the Canadian equivalent to the Grammys, take place this Sunday (March 30th) in Winnipeg. Hmmm, wonder if this could be the first time Adam and the band see one another, supposing Gontier will actually attend those awards….Celebrating birthdays: Scott Anderson of Finger Eleven is 40, Johnny “Old Skool” April of Staind is 49 and Quentin Tarantino turns 51.
