You’ll get exclusive content and updates and much much more!….Speaking of Avenged, their “Hail To The King: Deathbat” mobile game is still getting the bugs out, so when they posted earlier this month that it has it’s own Facebook page, I guess I misunderstood that it was released! So sorry if you were looking all over the place to download! LOL….Meanwhile, as the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain gets closer, our sister company, Pulse of Radio, reports the investigation into the April 1994 suicide of the Nirvana frontman was briefly re-opened and examined by Seattle police, according to the Seattle Times. Aside from a few rolls of undeveloped crime scene photos, the cold case detective assigned to the task uncovered no new findings. Police spokeswoman Renee Witt said that the detective “dug up the files and had another look, and there was nothing new,” adding that the photos were “underwhelming.” Witt said police will release some of the new photos and will answer questions on the anniversary of Cobain’s death. Some media outlets erroneously reported that the case was being re-opened for a full new investigation. The 27-year-old Cobain killed himself with a shotgun on April 5th, 1994 in his Seattle-area home. Gary Smith, an electrician who found the body three days later on April 8th, said that he found a suicide note that ended with “I love you, I love you.” In his last weeks of life, Cobain overdosed in Rome and had to be hospitalized, entered and then fled rehab, fought bitterly with wife Courtney Love and threatened to kill himself. Cobain and Nirvana will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 10th. Meanwhile, a Nirvana fan and journalist named Jaime Dunkle wants to buy Kurt’s childhood home in Aberdeen, WA, which Cobain’s mother put on the market last fall for $500,000 despite the house being valued for less than $67,000. Dunkle has started a crowdfunding campaign at GoFundMe and hopes to raise $700,000 to buy the house and convert it into a museum. At press time, the campaign had been live for 18 days and raised $320 so far. Dunkle wrote, “We’re making sure this house is memorialized by us fans so it doesn’t end up in the clutches of capitalist greed,” adding, “This museum will reflect the anti-commercialism spirit of Nirvana.” Dunkle recently visited the house and filmed video footage of Cobain’s old bedroom. Rewards for donating to Dunkle’s campaign include a one-year membership to the museum for $15, five years’ membership for $50, a DIY shirt with Cobain quotes handmade by Dunkle for $100 and tickets to a sold-out Die Antwoord concert for $300. The highest pledge, $1,000, earns the investor a lifetime membership to the museum, a T-shirt and a sleepover at the house after construction……Our friends from Black Stone Cherry did an interview and acoustic performance over in Germany. Here is a YouTube video to check out. (Thanks Blabbernouth)… Speaking of Halestorm, the so non-metal dude Eric Blair did a video interview with Lzzy Hale and Arejay Hale at the Dio Tribute listening party earlier this week in LA! Watch it here. …. Speaking of 20th anniversaries, there are so many albums hitting 20 this year, it’s nuts! One is Nine Inch Nails The Downward Spiral. Trent Reznor told Metal Hammer, “It’s weird for me, too!” laughs Trent. “But then, I thought about this the other day, if you look out at the audience, they still look the same! Clearly it’s not the same people, but the first rows that I can see still feels like… I’m not at an Eagles concert with a bunch of orthodontists on a night out, smoking pot!” About that time he went on to say, “That was a kind of wide-eyed innocent time in a lot of ways,” he muses. “We were getting bought and sold from record companies and Interscope had just bought us. I went out to LA to look for a place to record an album in a house, and I had a grand idea of what I wanted this record to be about. I had the concepts, the titles of songs, and some written songs, and I had a feel of what I wanted to do. And I’d just been able to afford some samplers that actually had some memory, so I was able to create sound in a way that I hadn’t been able to do before.” Will be something to look forward to later this summer when they tour with Soundgarden, who are celebrating their 20th anniversary of Superunknown!….And let’s raise a glass to those toasting another birthday! Today, Derek Whibley of Sum 41 turns 34. Saturday, John Otto of Limp Bizkit is 37 and William Shatner will be 83! Have a killer weekend!
