Ya know, when you live in an apartment building where you have a live-in superintendent and door people, you should give them a bonus at Christmas time. Just like tipping the pizza delivery person, it’s just what you’re supposed to do. But then there’s the cleaning person, the dry cleaning delivery guy, your hairdresser, your manicurist….where does it end? I soon will be have no money for friends and family! I need a second job just to afford Christmas! Oh, and taxes are due next month. Joy!…..Here’s something else you can give money to: Linkin Park, The Offspring and other special guests yet to be announced have been confirmed to perform at the Concert for the Philippines , which will take place at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles on Jan 11th. The event will raise money for Linkin Park’s Music For Relief charitable organization, with proceeds going to relief efforts for the 12 million people who were impacted by Typhoon Haiyan last month. In case you forgot, Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines and other portions of Southeast Asia in November, causing thousands of deaths, massive flooding, landslides and widespread destruction. Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington told us this is the exact kind of situation that Music For Relief was built for: “Natural disasters affect people of all races, of all nationalities, of all social standings — you know, an earthquake doesn’t really care who you are or what you do or where you’re from. It’s gonna destroy what lays in its path, and we’re here to provide as much relief as possible to the affected people of natural disasters.” Tickets are limited to 500. The first 300 people to reach a $250 goal will automatically get pit access. From those, 75 will be picked to get total VIP treatment, including parking, pre-party, VIP seats and meet & greets. Don’t live in LA? No problem. Go to www.musicforrelief.org to see how you might be able to enter to win a trip for two with airfare and hotel. Good luck and happy donating….I don’t know how Myles Kennedy does it. He’s just home from touring overseas touring with Alter Bridge, but now he’s off to record again! Slash and his solo band with Myles, The Conspirators, are back in the studio to record the third album under the solo Slash banner. The legendary guitarist has offered some updates on Twitter as the band gets to work on the follow-up to 2012’s Apocalyptic Love, saying on Dec 4th, “Awesome session yesterday! Things couldn’t be off to a better start.” He then tweeted the next day (Dec 5th), “Great session yesterday! Songs are really coming together. Going to be a heavy record.” Look for the album probably by the spring….Here’s something you might want to see under your tree.
