Of Mice & Men in happier times in the hardDriveRadio studios
Today I am seeing a report from Alternative Press on Austin Carlile from Of Mice & Men. It reads:
Earlier this week, it was announced Of Mice & Men would not be able to go out on their upcoming tour with A Day To Remember due to frontman Austin Carlile’s ongoing recovery. This news came after Carlile’s month-long hospital stay, which began when the band were forced to cancel a European tour, so the singer could focus on his health.
Carlile suffers from a disorder called Marfan Syndrome, a diagnosis he shared an honest—but heartbreaking—message about via Twitter on Nov 28th.
In response to fans telling him to “hurry up and get better,” Carlile says, “I’ll never be better.”
“You happy? I live EACH DAY as it comes,” he continues. “Each day is a battle. Marfan Syndrome is a fibrostic connective tissue disorder, that means it affects your ENTIRE BODY, and IT. IS. PAINFUL. I don’t cry on Twitter on all the bad days. I suck it up & keep pushing on. The rare good days?!… I CHERISH those more than you could ever
understand. & I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. This is why I have such a heart for those hurting, mentally OR physically, because I. AM. TOO.”
Back in October, Austin posted this message on his Twitter page.
It breaks my heart, too. I think the world of Austin and his band, and I know all his fans wish he could get better, but the sad reality is, he will never get better. We just need to pray for him and hope today is a good day.

The Pulse Of Radio reporting Halestorm‘s Lzzy Hale has posted a video of herself performing the song “Dear Daughter” in bed. The clip is part of an awareness campaign called Bedstock, in which artists perform songs from between the sheets to raise awareness of serious children’s and teen illnesses for the MyMusicRX organization. Hale is one of many rock and pop artists who participated, with the list also including Norah Jones, Panic! At the Disco, Jack Johnson, Red Fang and more.
“Dear Daughter” is taken from Halestorm’s 2015 album, Into The Wild Life. Hale admitted a while back that a song like “Dear Daughter” can be confusing to the band’s longtime fans: “We’ve tried to do ballads before, just on radio, and because of the position that we’re in, which is kind of like — you know, obviously, we’ve cut our teeth in Active Rock, but on the other end, people that are interested in maybe the lighter stuff that we do are stlll like, ‘Well, aren’t you that band that like won the Grammy for Best Heavy Metal Performance?’ you know (laughs). So we’re kind of teetering on a weird line.”
Halestorm is starting to work on material for its fourth studio album, which will follow up Into The Wild Life.
Not an actual boombox. This was the cake their label presented them with. Cool, right?
