We’re so happy for Disturbed! Not only did they score the Number One album on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart, they scored their 5th CONSECUTIVE Number One debut, a feat achieved only previously by Metallica and the Dave Matthews Band! I had to get guitarist Dan Donegan on the phone to get a comment: “I’m still overwhelmed and shocked. I mean, to not only reach that milestone one time in your career, to do it five in a row and to be on the shortlist of Metallica and Dave Matthews and to be included in that category, it just blows my mind. You know, it’s just reassuring to see that the Disturbed fans stayed loyal and stayed with us even during this break. It’s an amazing feeling.”
Disturbed singer David Draiman said in a statement, “With your help, in the face of staggering odds, and mighty competition, we have once again made history . . . This is your victory! Your triumph! Together, we have once again shown the world that rock music is alive and well, and will never die! Let this moment be celebrated not only by us, but by every rock music fan on the face of this planet!”

Epic Records had some sort of Epic Fest last week in LA on the Sony Pictures Studio lot in Hollywood. Several of the labels groups performed including a short set from Ozzy Osbourne. Epic president Sylvia Rhone (she once ran Elektra and Motown) told Billboard Ozzy was planning his next solo album, which would be something he’s always wanted to do. Hmmm. Well, he’s done covers so I guess the only thing left would be an acoustic album. (I think country or R&B are out of the question, don’t you?)
Ozzy and his solo band played at Saturday’s event, with his set featuring “Suicide Solution,” “I Don’t Know,” “Bark At The Moon” and Black Sabbath classics “War Pigs,” “Fairies Wear Boots” and “Paranoid.” (Watch here.) Ozzy has not released an all-new solo album since 2010’s Scream, having spent the last few years touring with Black Sabbath and recording that band’s 13 album. Scream was mostly recorded in a studio at Ozzy’s home, with little band input, and the singer told us at the time he’d like to get back to a traditional format for his next solo outing: “At the end of the day, the end result was pretty cool, but I don’t know whether I want to continue to do it that way. I like to — like the earlier albums, I’d go rehearse and jam out with the band, get some, like, vibe going, you know. I want to incorporate that and this new technology thing, next album.”
Buckcherry’s Josh Todd and Keith Nelson visited yesterday. We chatted for a while and filmed a video segment with Josh on his tattoos. Did you know Josh and Keith met at a tattoo parlor in LA? Look for the video soon on the hardDriveRadio YouTube channel. We will also be posting a killer video Shane and Danica did for Ghost acoustically performing “If You Have Ghosts” in the hardDrive studios. It’s genius!
Tomorrow, The Struts are coming in! We will be doing a LiveStream with them in the afternoon from around 2-3 PM. If you have questions you would like to ask, please send them to me now! Via the email link on the home page or the hardDriveRadio APP Interact Live section. Do it! 🙂
