Oh man! Dave Grohl’s broken leg did receive surgery in London and now Foo Fighters have cancelled their remaining European dates! I posted Dave’s lengthy message to fans on the hardDriveRadio Facebook page yesterday. So now, what remains to be seen is: Will some of the U.S. dates have to also be cancelled and rescheduled? Obviously, Dave is not riding a motorcycle on Jul 4th in Washington, DC. I wonder. Does he really want to sit down for his entire summer tour? Ugh. What a drag! He HATES cancelling gigs. Not part of his nature, as seen in his brave continuance of his show in Gothenburg, Sweden Friday night. After dislocating his ankle and breaking the leg, he had his medic Johan hold his leg steady on a chair in front of his as he was seated to perform his entire two hour show. That’s one brave man!
Lou Brutus spoke with Jeremy Spencer of Five Finger Death Punch, who explained the meaning behind the title of their new album, Got Your Six, which drops Aug 28th. He said, “It’s kind of like a military term for, if you’re standing facing the 12 o’clock position and somebody else is standing at the six o’clock position facing you, that means they have your back.“ Five Finger Death Punch will be our Featured Artist of the Week on the XL starting Monday!
30 Seconds To Mars is launching the first Camp Mars outdoor experience this August. The three-day camping trip will take place from August 22nd through the 24th in Malibu, California, where fans can participate in activities such as “hiking, climbing, yoga, cooking classes, raising the flag and camp fire sing-a-longs,” according to a statement from the trio. 30 Seconds To Mars will give two different performances over the weekend alongside numerous DJ sets.
Singer Jared Leto told Rolling Stone, “We have always looked to do things for our audience that are fun and unique. What better way to celebrate the summer than in beautiful Southern California with the Mars family in full.” Leto told us a while back he thinks his group’s fans are the most devoted in rock: “It’s incredible to have a group of people that are so dedicated and passionate to what we have to offer. Obviously we’re not the biggest band out there, but we have the most incredible fans — it’s like a big dysfunctional family, I’ve said a bunch of times before. There’s always just the most inspired efforts by the people that are here to be a part of something very special.”
30 Seconds To Mars has been keeping a low profile since completing the touring cycle last year behind its fourth studio album, 2013’s Lust Love Faith + Dreams. Following his Oscar-winning performance in Dallas Buyers Club, Jared Leto has been filming Suicide Squad, the DC Comic villain team-up movie in which he plays the Joker.
S’mores and ghost stories will also be provided. Packages for Camp Mars go on sale Friday (June 19th) at 9:00 a.m. PT. See website and trailer.
