OK, so what the hell is happening? This year, I did not go down reposting a phony April Fool’s post! Wasn’t there one last year about Tom Araya leaving Slayer? Yeah, I went there. But not THIS YEAR! LOL But speaking of Slayer, Tom Araya will be in the hardDriveRadio studios next week, as will Halestorm. Kerry King & Tom will be in NYC for the NY Auto Show as they reveal the new Scion car inspired by Slayer! (I want one!) As always, I encourage you to send in your questions!…Paulie Walnuts & I hung out last night with Three Days Grace after their Highline Ballroom show here in NYC. Great seeing their first US date in support of their brand new album, Human. Matt Walst and company blazed onto the stage with such swagger, Steven Tyler would’ve been jealous! I mean, the crowd was cheering their name over and over, mosh pits that included women, and hit after hit after hit was played! They pulled out a couple of new tunes, including “Fallen Angel,” which will probably be their 4th single off this album. I can’t even remember another album where 3 singles (2 of which went Number 1) were released BEFORE the album. Looking forward to seeing Barry, Brad, Matt and Neil in the hardDrive studios today!….Yesterday it was announced The Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson will co headline “The End Times” Tour beginning in July. The idea of the co-bill came when the two were together back on my birthday, Dec 05th, in London. See their performance here of “Ava Adore.” I wasn’t aware they had had a falling out back in the 90’s. Pulse Of Radio said it was when Manson was dating actress Rose McGowan and Pumpkin’s frontman Billy Corgan sent a letter to Manson warning him about the actress. Manson told Esquire, “He wrote a strongly worded letter about how Rose McGowan would ruin my life and ruin my career if I stayed with her, which was good advice, and he wrote it as a letter, which is very polite . . . he was genuinely looking out for my best interests.” When they ran into each other recently after 15 years, Manson said, “I had forgotten how close we were, having not seen him in so long.” The pair have since shared the stage a few times, most recently in London. Billy Corgan is stopping by the hardDriveRadio studios tomorrow. GOT QUESTIONS? Send them in NOW! In How To Be A Man, McKagan shares the wisdom he gained on the path to rock stardom — from his time with Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver to getting sober after a life of hard living to achieving his personal American Dream of marrying a supermodel, raising a family and experiencing what it’s like to be winked at by Prince. Duff will drop by the hardDrive studios to discuss just around the release of the book. Also in town at that time, Slash. Hmmm…..Sad news yesterday afternoon when we heard Jeremy Brown, guitarist for Scott Weiland‘s band The Wildabouts, died on Monday (Mar 30th). The cause of the 34-year-old musician’s death has not been revealed. In a post on his Facebook page, Weiland wrote that he was informed of Brown’s death via a phone call from the guitarist’s family after Brown failed to show up for rehearsal Monday afternoon. Weiland wrote, “I am in shock right now, everyone that knows him is devastated. It is a terrible loss that goes beyond words. He is one of my best friends, a truest friend and one of the most gifted guitar players that I’ve ever known. A true genius. It’s impossible to explain how much he will be missed and what a hole this will leave in our hearts . . . Please keep his family in your thoughts.” Weiland and the Wildabouts had been scheduled to play a record release party in Hollywood on Monday night for their new album Blaster, which came out on Tuesday (Mar 31st). Weiland met Brown in 2008 during the recording of his second solo album, “Happy” In Galoshes, and they have worked together ever since. The singer told us that his relationship with Brown and the other members of the Wildabouts led to the making of Blaster: “I’d been playing on and off with these guys for about nine years as part of my backing band when I put out ‘Happy’ In Galoshes, and we got together for a writing session and it was just the four of us, and so I decided that I wanted to make a band album again.” It is not yet known what impact Brown’s death will have on the Wildabouts’ tour plans. The band is scheduled to play in London, England on April 9th, while its next scheduled U.S. date is April 25th in Jacksonville, FL at the Welcome To Rockville festival….On a lighter note, have you seen the commercial for TIdal, the new streaming service Jay Z owns? It’s pretty cool. You’re totally like, ‘What was that?’….Ozzy and Sharon: Real Estate Barons. They flip more houses than that tv show! They’re selling two unfinished houses in the Hollywood Hills West area of Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Times. Both houses are priced at $1.999 million each. One is a 2,538-square-foot Contemporary built in 1961 and containing three bedrooms and three baths, while the smaller property is 2,038 square feet. Remodeling had been started but abandoned on both houses, which each have a pool, spa and two-car garage The Osbournes last sold a house in March 2013, when they unloaded a six-bedroom, 11,000-square-foot Los Angeles mansion for $11.5 million. The Osbournes paid nearly $12.4 million for the estate in 2007. The couple also put a Malibu beach house on the market in April 2011 for $10 million. Must be nice……Artist Direct interviewed Chester Bennington about the new Stone Temple Pilots album they are recording as we speak. The new album is due in September. Chester told Artist Direct: “We’re really trying to take the musicality to a different level and to bring a lot of energy,” he said. “We got super funky.” He added, “This thing is as raw and real as it gets. Everything about it is us, the same way it has been since the beginning. Everything we’re doing is completely the four of us. It’s fun to be a part of that and do it on that level this way. It’s really interesting. I’m having a great time doing it.” He continued: “With Linkin Park, things are pretty literal. There’s not a whole lot of poetry going on or clever lines that may not have a direct meaning but have some underlying meaning with what’s going on. Writing for STP, I get to be a lot more poetic. I get to be a lot more clever with my wording. It makes it a lot of fun, because I get to be more colorful. With this new record, the music is pretty fucking insane, dude. We’re rocking over here. It’s so fucking crazy, and it’s so cool. With the melodies, I’m getting funky and stepping out of my comfort zone, which is fun. It’s definitely something I enjoy doing, because it helps me think differently in terms of how to get a point across. In Linkin Park, because there are two writers with Mike [Shinoda] and I, we both need to believe in what we’re saying to get a point across. As the only writer of lyrics and the only one who has to believe it as we perform it, it allows me to be a little more colorful in my phrasing, which is super fun.” (Thanks Blabbermouth.)….Happy 44th to Method Man and Happy 33rd to SNL’s Taran Killam…Oh WAIT! This just IN! I was on Facebook and saw message from one of our PD’s saying it was his last day at the station, etc etc. Everyone was “OH NO, dude!” and I’m PMing him and what do I find out….APRIL FOOLS! Got me! (And about 20 others!)
