Well, today is a big day for yours truly. I have to see how far I can walk today. Can I make it 5 blocks to the subway? Will I be able to walk up and down all the subway stairs? Or should I take a hour long ride on the bus? Or will I have to bite the bullet and take a $30 cab to work? These are the things I must tackle today…..I missed SNL this week with musical guests the Zac Brown Band. They performed their new single “Heavy Is The Hand” with special guest Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell! Check it out!…..Pulse Of Radio reporting this morning on some rare music from Kurt Cobain. Brett Morgen, the director of the new Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck (HBO May 4th), has revealed on Twitter the soundtrack of the film will feature a 12-minute unreleased track from Cobain, the late Nirvana frontman. It isn’t known if the track was intended for a solo album he worked on with former Nirvana guitarist Pat Smear and former Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson. “Do Re Mi,” Cobain’s late acoustic demo, was released a decade ago. The Montage of Heck documentary stunned audiences when it premiered at Sundance in January. NME described it as “a revelatory glimpse into the tormented soul behind Nirvana… the most holistic portrait of a rock icon ever created.” Rolling Stone called it “the unfiltered Kurt experience… you don’t just feel as if you’ve gotten to know the man better. You’re left completely emotionally spent.” This is the first authorized documentary of Cobain 21 years after his death. Recently, the childhood home of Cobain, which has been on the market since 2013 for $500,000 dropped in price to $400,000. According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, however, this asking price is still $300,000 more than the average price for homes in the local area. The 1,522-square-foot Cobain house is located in east Aberdeen, Washington, about 110 miles southwest of Seattle ….Also from Pulse, Skillet frontman John Cooper recently told The Front Row Report the band would record their new album soon(ish): “We are recording this year. In fact, I am writing and demoing today, and I took a break to do some interviews. And then, after I talk with you, I go back and finish singing one of my songs and put it in. We’re about halfway done with the writing process now, and we’re looking to record this summer and release, kind of, as soon as possible, really.” Cooper deflected questions about overall themes for the album though: “Even with Rise, I didn’t know that we were doing a concept record until we were actually recording; it just kind of hit me.” No matter how it comes out, Cooper told Billboard recently that he’s inspired to get in the studio ASAP: “I haven’t been this excited about writing a record in, like, seven years or eight years, and it’s just been kind of a joyous time, actually. I’ve been signing autographs on the tour and meeting tons of people, and when I meet people like that it inspires me to write and I’m feeling inspired and just excited to still be making music and hopefully write songs that people can relate to and can make them feel better about themselves or help them through hard times.” Rise debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart and ended up going platinum. Skillet is currently on its Winter Jam tour and has dates lined up throughout the year…Incubus has released the music video for “Absolution Calling.” It harkens back to the 60’s and West Side Story! Or maybe Michael Jackson‘s “Beat It” video. Anyhow, it’s kinda cool. Check it out here. And the Trust Fall (Side A) EP from Incubus drops on Mar 24th….Celebrating life today: Shannon Leto of 30 Seconds to Mars is 45 and Johnny Kelly of Type O Negative and Danzig is 47.
