Well, the people have spoken. Yikes! Watch out what you wish for!…..Seether and Papa Roach have announced their co-headlining tour with Kyng & Islander. Good stuff! That is gonna be a fun night! Kyng & Seether are close friends. If you recall, Shaun Morgan jumped on stage at the Nashville stop of the hardDrive Live Tour back in July. That was pretty funny, because he didn’t sing or play guitar, he played cymbals! The two acts are old friends, which Seether frontman Shaun Morgan told us was a big selling point: “It’s always fun to tour with your friends. We’ve been talking about it and, you know, an opportunity came up for us to do this and we said hell yeah, you know, let’s do it, let’s have fun, let’s make some noise and I think our bands go really well together as well. I think we complement each other, so it should be a good show.” Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach added “We are super excited to roll out on this tour with our brothers in Seether. Not only is it gonna be rad for the fans, it’s gonna be rad for us as well! We love and respect the guys in Seether.” Tix on sale tomorrow. See Road Rage for the dates….Foo Fighters have announced the band will celebrate its 20th anniversary next summer with a massive concert at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. According to FMQB, the “20th Anniversary Blowout” will take place on July 4th, 2015, and is being described as an “all-day extravaganza” with multiple acts on the bill. More details will be announced tomorrow Thursday morning (Nov 6th). The self-titled debut album from Foo Fighters was released on July 4th, 1995. Former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl was the only official member of the band and played nearly all the instruments on the disc. Bassist Nate Mendel was one of the first musicians to join the lineup and told us how he first met Grohl: “He’d come to see my old band play and, I don’t know, I was intimidated because I didn’t know anybody that was successful in music or, I mean, he was just famous in general at that point in time. So I was just scared. Wasn’t really super confident in my playing and was excited at the idea of doing the band, but like while we were trying out, it was very — it was kind of nerve-wracking, you know. I mean, he’s a very personable, easy guy to be around, but nonetheless, I mean, Nirvana was casting a pretty huge shadow.” Meanwhile, the Foos will also play the stage of Austin City Limits this Friday (Nov 7th), in conjunction with the Austin episode of Sonic Highways airing on HBO that night. The new Foo Fighters album, also called Sonic Highways, comes out next Monday (Nov 10th). Be listening to hardDrive with Lou Brutus weekend of Nov 15 for a spotlight on the album…..Volbeat frontman Michael Poulsen said in a new interview with Toddstar he thinks American music needs to diversify its sound more than it has in recent years. Poulsen explained, “You guys over here have so many great bands. You have a great music history. But it’s a little bit weird when you turn on the American radio that a lot of American bands sound pretty much the same.” Poulsen added he thinks Volbeat appeals to fans here because they put a European spin on American rock, saying, “Maybe we were there at the right time where people over here needed something that’s a little bit more different, that they take it as a compliment that they can hear that we’re inspired by a lot of American artists.” Poulsen told us not long ago he finds it strange that fans sometimes think Volbeat’s music sounds more American than that of homegrown acts: “I’m so inspired by American music, you know, you have so many legendary performers that still I can be inspired of, and that’s probably also the reason why we can write the way we do. So it’s a little bit funny that a band from a little country called Denmark now and then can tell the American people how to do their own thing (laughs).” Volbeat will come back to America next spring for a tour with Anthrax and Crobot that will begin on April 24th in Denver, closing on June 2nd in New York City. Poulsen said recently he would like to take several months off before beginning work on Volbeat’s sixth album next summer….Oklahoma band Hinder is about to return with a new single, a new label and a new lead vocalist. The band has announced that it will release its new song, “Hit The Ground,” on November 24th through The End Records, to be followed by the group’s fifth full-length album in 2015. The single will mark the recording debut of the band’s new frontman Nolan Neal. Original vocalist Austin Winkler left the group in November 2013 due to continued substance abuse issues. Drummer Cody Hanson said about Hinder’s new music, “We like to think we can do anything. We don’t want to be stuck in a rut with one type of sound or formula. One song might have a country influence, while another might have a pop influence . . . We have every element covered on this record. You’ve got to do what’s best for the song.” Hanson added, “This band was built around a strong core of hard work and friendship. Like it or not, we’re going to be around for a long time.”….The widow of late Static-X frontman Wayne Static, retired porn star Tera Wray, has issued a statement in the wake of her husband’s death this past weekend at the age of 48. Wray said, “I would like to thank everyone on behalf of all the Wayne’s family and myself for all the kind words from all of Wayne’s friends and fans and other bands. Wayne went very peacefully in his sleep and probably didn’t even know that it happened (which makes me feel better that he wasn’t in pain), It will be sometime before we know why it happened but I will keep everyone informed.” Wray added, “He had so much more to give the world. As his wife, biggest fan, and worshipper, I will keep him alive and finish everything that I can that he has been working on. He will never die and I want to share everything that I can that he has to give to his fans and friends. I will try my hardest to be strong and make him proud.” Two former members of Static-X, guitarist Koichi Fukuda and bassist Tony Campos, separately issued statements expressing their condolences to Static’s parents and siblings — although both pointedly left his wife out of their remarks. Static was about to embark on tours with Powerman 5000 and Drowning Pool when he suddenly passed away. The cause of death has yet to be determined. A number of Static’s peers in the music industry relayed their suspicions that his death was drug-related, but a publicist associated with Static and Wray denied that, saying that Static has been off drugs since 2009….U2 are joining the likes of Foo Fighters and Metallica by booking a residency on a late night talk show. The Irish supergroup will spend a full week on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, starting on Monday, November 17th. That’s the same week that Metallica is doing its week-long stint on The Late Late Show, but fortunately they’re in different time slots. There’s no word on whether U2 will also sit for an interview with Fallon. (Stereogum)….Faith No More is currently recording its first full-length album since 1997’s Album Of The Year. Around 10 songs have been tracked so far and another 15 exist in demo form. Bassist Bill Gould said about the disc, “It’ll be much different than everything else out there — but that’s sort of the point. It’s a combination of what we don’t hear in the outside world and what we feel is lacking from other bands. And in the end, it will sound like Faith No More.” The yet-to-be-titled album will arrive in 2015 and will be preceded on November 28th — Record Store Day Black Friday — by a limited edition vinyl single.
