ROCK THE VOTE!…..Yesterday, we posted the dates for the upcoming Linkin Park tour with Rise Against and Of Mice & Men! I gotta tell ya, this tour is my dream tour for 2015! Love all these bands and to see Of Mice & Men in front of 10’s of thousands of people, well, that will just warm the cockles of my old heart! And The Black Market from Rise Against. Another one of my favorite albums of the year! WOO HOO! See Road Rage. Meanwhile, members of the Linkin Park fan club can access an exclusive pre-sale on www.lpunderground.com, with tickets to the general public going on sale starting Friday (Nov 7th). Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson told us joining forces with hardcore punk act Rise Against was a good match in light of the heavier style of the latest Linkin Park album, The Hunting Party: “Just that rebellious, kind of punk rock spirit certainly channeled and fueled some of the aggressive exuberance that we’ve expressed on The Hunting Party and as far as Rise Against is concerned, you know, we’re fans of them personally and the work they do as a band, and also we’re just super big fans of the music they make. So in terms of the pairing, it’s just a natural fit and we couldn’t be more happy that we’re able to put it together.” The tour will hit several cities that haven’t seen Linkin Park in the past several years, if ever. Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington said, “Rock music was born in these towns, and for some reason these places tend to get overlooked much more than they should. We want our fans there to know how much they matter to us.” Rise Against frontman Tim Mcllrath said, “We think this will be a great experience for all our collective fans.”….Last night, my friend from Roadrunner Records, Mark Abramson (check out his podcasts!) insisted I make it out to see his new band Marmozets at Irving Plaza. They are currently on the Journey’s Noise Tour with Issues and Ghosttown. The band is made up of two sets of siblings, the Macintyres and the Bottomleys. Fronted by singer Becca Macintyre, the British 5 piece is a mixture of pop, punk and metal sensibilities and in 2013, were voted the Best Band on the Van’s Warped Tour! I fell in love and when I met Becca, she hugged me and said “You are someone special!” (Awww. Ok you won me!) So they’re hitting the hardDriveRadio studios today for an interview. Check them out on their official website and, as always, you can submit questions via the interact link on the homepage, or the Interact Live section of the hardDriveRadio APP!..Speaking of the APP, check out new pictures posted from KNOTFEST including new shots of LOU BRUTUS taken by the amazingly talented Rob Fortenberry! Nice work!….I noticed yesterday on his website, Sully Erna (Godsmack frontman) had added a new date on his solo acoustic tour (see Road Rage), but that’s not all! He also landed a role in the upcoming Martin Scorcese production of “Bleed For This.” The film is about a real life story of a boxer who mounted an incredible comeback after a near fatal car crash. The main roles have been casted with Miles Teller, Katy Segal & Aaron Eckhart. Not sure what Sully’s part is, but I am happy for him! He told me a while back acting is something he continues to pursue: “It depends on what it is, and I’m constantly auditioning and doing stuff for readings and things like that. It’s just about, you know, what I land and even if it’s a small part in a big movie, to me it’s good for the acting reel and something I’d like to continue to do.” ….Pulse Of Radio reports two former members of Static-X have spoken out about the death of the band’s frontman and founder, Wayne Static, who passed away over the weekend at the age of 48. Ex-guitarist Koichi Fukuda said in a statement, “I am still trying to process the sad fact that I’ve lost my dear old friend, Wayne Richard Wells. He was an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind, very special person and also a very gifted artist with a clear vision. On a personal level, he was a smart, kind, caring sweetheart and soft-spoken gentleman. I really loved his dark, biting and sharp sense of humor. We all shared so many great times and also some tough times together like we are ‘family.’” Fukuda added, “It makes me so sad and angry at the same time that I’ll never have a chance to reconcile with him. I thought the time is the only thing needed for all of us to realize what we had is something so special.” Meanwhile, bassist Tony Campos — whose relationship with Static grew particularly turbulent — wrote in a similar statement, “I knew Wayne for 15 years. Some of the best times of my life were with him. I considered him a good friend. It’s sad the way our friendship ended, but even more sad that we never got to settle things between us.” Campos continued, “Even though we were no longer friends the last five years, I held on to a sliver of hope that my old friend would come back.” Both Campos and Fukuda expressed their condolences to Static’s parents, brother and sisters, but notably did not extend their sympathies to Static’s wife, porn star Tera Wray, who he married in 2008. Sad…30 Seconds To Mars has announced the release of its new documentary series, Into The Wild, which will premiere on November 30th through the VyRT online media platform. The series chronicles the band’s two-and-a-half year world tour in support of its 2009 album, This Is War, which was certified by the Book of Guinness World Records as the longest running tour in the history of rock ‘n’ roll. The album itself was made under the shadow of a $30 million legal battle between 30 Seconds To Mars and its record label, which was the subject of the band’s previous film, Artifact. Into The Wild was directed by 30 Seconds frontman Jared Leto under his pseudonym Bartholomew Cubbins. Season passes to watch the episodes are available for purchase now at VyRT.com. $49.99 will get fans a regular season pass while $99.99 will get fans a VIP season pass with exclusive bonus content and access to the artist. Individual episodes are also available to watch at a cost of $3.99 per segment. 30 Seconds To Mars has two dates later this month in South Africa, but has otherwise completed the touring cycle behind its fourth studio album, Lust Love Faith + Dreams….Pulse also posted this. Kiss bassist Gene Simmons has gotten everything from mild slaps on the wrist to a few sharper responses for his “rock is dead” comments in a recent interview, but he has apparently really ticked off Alter Bridge and Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti. In an interview with Metal Hammer, Tremonti said, “I think people’s waning interest in Gene Simmons as a person is what’s making him say that. I would say that maybe a portion of his career is dead — but the rest of us are still out there and loving it and doing it.” Tremonti added, “Just because his career is coming to a close it’s kind of selfish for him to say that it’s dead. Maybe that’s his world, but not the rest of our worlds.” Thanks Mark. Gene does need to go quietly into the night…..Foo Fighters played at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Halloween (Friday, Oct 31st) to celebrate the premiere of the Nashville-based episode of their HBO series Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways. After the program screened in the venue, Foo Fighters hit the stage with their faces painted like a black metal act. The two-and-a-half hour set includes covers of Queen and David Bowie‘s “Under Pressure,” Cheap Trick‘s “Stiff Competition,” Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love,” Tom Petty’s “Breakdown” and Black Sabbath‘s “War Pigs.” Love that!…..Spin posted this. A bizarre mixtape supposedly assembled in 1988 by a then 21-yr old Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, before the release of Nirvana’s debut album, Bleach. The 36-minute “Montage of Heck” is a sound collage featuring excerpts from various songs by artists like the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, the Jackson Five, John Denver and many others, combined with strange sound effects, audio lifted from films, children’s records and other obscure sources. If it was indeed made by Kurt, it gives a fascinating glimpse into the way he approached sound and art…..Turning 45 today: Mattew McConaughey and P-Diddy!
