Black Veil Brides will be in the hardDriveRadio studios today and their publicist told me frontman Andy Biersack was looking forward to seeing ME! That’s so awesome! Nice to have a mutual admiration society going on! Not too late to get your questions in to me, so if you haven’t, do it now! Missouri’s Shaman’s Harvest dropped by yesterday for an interview and acoustic performance. So wonderful their lead singer Nathan Hunt overcame CANCER while they were recording this new record! That’s pretty freakin’ special if you ask me! …Slipknot sent me a trailer they made for their upcoming Prepare For Hell Tour with Korn! Check THIS out! Can’t wait for this one, although I have to figure out where I can see it as I will be heading to London to see Bring Me The Horizon at Wembley on Dec 5th (my birthday!), so I will be away from the area when the tour comes around. Hmmm: Kansas City perhaps?….The Pretty Reckless has become the only female-fronted band to hit Number One on the rock radio chart with its first two hit singles. “Heaven Knows” reached the top spot in March, while the band’s latest single, “Messed Up World,” just climbed to Number One in the past week. The Pretty Reckless is also just the second female-fronted group to hit Number One following Halestorm. The only other female voice to top the rock chart was that of Alannah Myles with “Black Velvet” back in 1990. Singer Taylor Momsen told us where the band was when she learned that “Heaven Knows” had become their first chart-topper: “We were in Europe and I went, ‘Oh, it’s great, we have a Number One in America and we’re in Europe. No offense to Europe, Europe’s awesome, but we’re always in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Even though the band is the first of its kind to reach Number One with its first two singles, the Pretenders did have two chart-toppers in a row with “Don’t Get Me Wrong” and “My Baby” in late 1986/early 1987. Both songs by The Pretty Reckless are taken from their sophomore album, Going To Hell, which debuted at Number Five on the Billboard album chart when it was released in March. The Pretty Reckless begin a lengthy North American headlining trek today (September 5th) in Lake Buena Vista, FL…. Pulse of Radio announced Ozzy Osbourne has launched a Facebook page for an upcoming project called “Ozzy Osbourne’s Hell Gate,” according to Blabbermouth. The Black Sabbath singer has yet to reveal any more details about what the project might be, except it’s “coming in October 2015.” It’s speculated Ozzy could be re-teaming with Universal Studios Hollywood for its annual “Halloween Horror Nights” event. Ozzy and the rest of Sabbath were featured in last year’s all-original 3D maze “Black Sabbath: 13 3D” at Universal Studios Hollywood. The maze was based on the darkest lyrics from Sabbath’s biggest hit songs and was the only attraction at the horror event to incorporate 3D video. Ozzy will release a solo career retrospective titled Memoirs Of A Madman on October 7th. The CD will contain 17 of his greatest hits, while the DVD will feature music videos, rare live performances and interviews. Ozzy told us a while back he doesn’t plan to stop making music any time soon, but thinks he’ll know when that time comes: “I’ve always said that if the audience diminishes down to one cow and three drunks in a field, I think that I’d be pretty dumb to not go, ‘You know what, maybe I should just call it quits,’ you know.” Ozzy has recently expressed interest in making a new solo album. His last solo studio effort was 2010’s Scream. His first all-new album with Sabbath in 35 years, 13, came out in June 2013 and topped both the U.S. and U.K. album charts, later winning a Grammy Award as well…..And finally today, as we here in NYC mourn the passing of Joan Rivers, so do some of our friends in the rock community. Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Zombie and David Draiman are among the rock musicians and scores of other artists who reacted on Twitter and Facebook to the death of the comedy legend yesterday (Sep 4th). The 81-year-old comedienne and talk show host was hospitalized last week after she went into cardiac arrest at a Manhattan doctor’s office following a routine procedure. Daughter Melissa Rivers announced her death on Thursday afternoon. Rivers first came to prominence as a guest and later guest host of The Tonight Show. In her later years, she became well known for her red carpet fashion commentary and for hosting the E! show Fashion Police, which included Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter Kelly as a panelist. Ozzy said in a statement, “Not only was Joan a comic genius, she was an amazing woman. Thank you for always having Kelly’s back. You will always be a legend. RIP.” Disturbed frontman David Draiman tweeted, “SO SORRY TO LOSE YOU @Joan_Rivers, YOU WILL BE MISSED. RIP.” Rob Zombie remarked, “I only met Joan Rivers once but she was super cool and really nice. Really sad.” Funeral and/or memorial arrangements for Rivers are yet to be announced, but Joan wrote in a recent autobiography that she wanted her funeral to be a celebrity event and wanted to be buried in a Valentino gown. I am sure it will be arranged. Rolling Stone wrote about her. Read it here.
