OK, I am SUPPOSED to be on vacation, but there’s DIRT to write this morning! So here’s your Monday news: .5: The Gray Chapter is the title of the upcoming Slipknot album. Earlier this morning, the radio single for “The Devil In I” was released. The album will drop just days before Knotfest on Oct 21. Pre-order the album and see the cover and more on the band’s official website….Just months after releasing their first EP, Out Of The Black, British bass-and-drums duo Royal Blood unleash their self-titled full-length debut tomorrow, Aug 26th. Bassist and singer Mike Kerr told us he and drummer Ben Thatcher didn’t want to stray too far on the album from the sound they introduced on the EP: “It’s been a real journey making it and, like, the most important thing for us was that we were very aware of everything sounding the same. And I think it soon became clear that all our focus actually just went on the songwriting and rather than stressing out about, you know, how are we gonna do a ballad, we just stuck to what we knew.”…Rise Against frontman Tim McIlrath leads the lineup of a new collection of protest songs called This Concerns Everyone, which is being released by A-F Records on Nov 18th. The set includes both studio and live recordings from a number of alternative artists, including Tom Morello and members of Saves The Day, Anti-Flag, Hot Water Music and more. McIlrath told us Rise Against has always tried to find the right mix of message and music: “It’s a delicate balance, that’s for sure. When you take on a cause or you want to communicate how you feel about something — especially something controversial — you’re walking a fine line between like bringing about some awareness or shoving something down someone’s throat. I guess we’ve kind of led by example in a lot of ways and presented it as something that, you know, we feel strongly about, and if you also feel strongly about it, then we want to let you know that you’re not alone.”…If you’ve ever wanted to own the actual “angry chair” — the seat from the video for Alice In Chains‘ classic song of the same name — now’s your chance. Someone on Craigslist who claims to have worked on the video has the chair and is offering it for either $1,500 or the best offer. The person writes, “The chair is perfect for sitting in and just raging out. a few dents, but in otherwise great condition.” The owner says that if you want to buy the chair, you have to “email with your favorite AIC album and why you think you’re angry enough for the chair,” adding, “Money isn’t important to me, just want to give the angry chair a good home.” (Hmmm, this smells like a stunt from one AIC drummer, because I don’t know many art directors who would say ‘money isn’t important to me’…..)……Get ready,yo! The man in the red hat is BACK! Here is a new song/video from Fred Durst and Company known as Limp Bizkit called “Endless Slaughter.” Give it a chance. It’s different. Guitarist Wes Borland told Billboard the songs on their forthcoming 4th quarter release, Stampede Of The Disco Elephants, have a “very live and sort of wild” feel. Moreover, fans shouldn’t expect the same old Limp Bizkit on the album; instead, there will be quite a bit of experimentation on the effort. “I think it’s a little bit more, sort of playful, taking chances, a little less pop, structured type of stuff,” Borland said. “I don’t want to say it [sounds] younger, but maybe a little more carefree, musically, to where we don’t over-think what we’re doing.”…Celebrating 65 today, Gene $immon$ of KISS.
