Man, the week before you leave for vacation is a drag. Especially if you are in my shoes. Ya gotta do all your work for the week you are gone, too! So hmm, one extra week of work before I take off a week. But hey, next week this time when I can sleep in, I ain’t complaining! LOL ….I posted on my personal facebook page that I wanted to be the first person to say the new Nickelback song is a “mofo.” And I stand on those words! Their new song, which hits radio this morning at 8 AM PT/11 AM ET, is called “Edge Of A Revolution.” And I am telling you to forget the old band. This is Nickelback, the 2015 model, and you “haters” out there just might change your tune. It will be available at retail tomorrow. Chad Kroeger told us not long ago that keeping Nickelback’s fans happy is always the priority: “We set the bar pretty high, you know, for ourselves and our fans because they’re always in the forefront of our mind when we’re creating new stuff, and we love giving our fans what they want. It’s tough because picking out a Nickelback fan’s tricky, you know, ’cause they’re all over the map and they all like something different. So trying to keep all of them happy, it’s a challenge.” Looking forward to getting Mr Kroeger on the hotLine soon…NME reports Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer told Noise 11 the band has been writing songs and recording demos for its new album “every day,” adding, “We are already up to 28 or 30 songs.” Klinghoffer also said it is “up in the air still” whether the band will work again with producer Rick Rubin, who has produced every Chili Peppers album from 1991’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik through 2011’s I’m With You. Hmmmm…..Congrats to the promoters of the Riot Fest in Chicago. The punk-rock based festival started back in 2005 as a few day festival held at various small clubs around the Windy City. Robert Redford is 78….And on a more serious note, I was sorry to hear the news over the weekend of the passing of producer Rick Parashar. Rick and his brother Raj opened London Bridge Studios in Seattle in 1985 and went on to produce Temple Of The Dog‘s self titled debut, Pearl Jam‘s Ten, Alice In Chains’ Sap, Nickelback‘s Silver Side Up, 3 Doors Down‘s Away From The Sun and 10 Years’ Epidemic, among countless others. He succumbed to pulmonary disease on Thursday, Aug 14. He was 50. Pearl Jam posted his photo on Instagram. Sad day…..
