WOW! Metallica does it again! They are a bunch of most clever fellows and they took the Glastonbury Festival naysayers by the cajones when they played this little film (directed by famed English director Julien Temple) before their set on Saturday in England. Previously, some of the bands who were also on the bill made disparaging comments when it was announced the world’s premiere metal band would headline the mostly alternative/folk-leaning music festival. So touche, Metallica, TOUCHE! Watch Metallica’s set here.….. Nothing More have been busy posting videos, one is the performance they did in our studios, and the other is the lyric video for “Christ Copyright.” Frontman Jonny Hawkins told us the song is a critique of the way certain people in society try to force their beliefs on others: “It’s kind of just spreading the idea that doubt is a virtue, that complying is sometimes good but not always. It’s really focused on dogma, I think, underlying a lot of organizations, a lot of groups of people that get together and I think push any idea zealously with blinders on their eyes.” …..Yeah! The Pulse Of Radio reports western Massachusetts All That Remains has begun pre-production on its new album, which will follow up 2012’s A War You Cannot Win. The yet-to-be-titled disc is tentatively due out by the end of the year. Singer Phil LaBonte told us a while back how the band approaches a new record: “There’s a lot of bands out there that are like, ‘Oh, we went and we took a bunch of time and we were thinking about this and we were thinking about that,’ and blah blah blah. All That Remains has never been that band. We’ve always been the band that’s like, ‘You know what? We’ve got to write a record, why don’t we all just get together and come up with some ideas, and the stuff we like, we’ll use, and the stuff we don’t like, we’ll throw away.’ There’s so many bands out there that are like, ‘Oh, we want to change the world and we want to . . . ‘ And it’s like, ‘Okay.’” Look for All That Remains at Rock USA in Oshkosh on Jul 17th and on JJO’s Sonic Boom in Janesville, WI Sep 13th!….Blabbermouthreports on the these two stories: Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder surprised the almost 24,000 people attending the band’s concert in Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday night (Jun 28th) by drinking wine from a fan’s Converse shoe. It started when a girl held up a sign saying, “Please sign my shoe,” to which Vedder replied, “You picked the wrong guy.” But after being egged on by the audience, Vedder had the girl toss her shoes onstage, signing one a short time later and sending it back to her with a bottle of wine, then filling the other with wine and drinking from it before throwing the shoe back to her. The crowd went nuts. Watch here…..And Marilyn Manson‘s concert in Moscow on Friday (Jun 27th) was canceled at the last minute due to a bomb threat, while another gig on Sunday (Jun 29th) in the Russian city of Novosibirsk was scrapped because religious activists claimed his show would insult Russian Orthodox believers and promote sadomasochism. Footage later surfaced online of religious fanatics attacking Manson’s entourage outside the band’s hotel in Moscow…..Happy 46th today to Phil Anselmo and Happy 32nd to Dan Jacobs of Atreyu (I’m hearing rumblings they’re getting back together!)
