Hello all. No sweep for the LA Kings! Let’s Go Rangers!…. Man, this weekend is the huge Download festival at Donnington Raceway in the little hamlet of Castle Donnington, England. Sweet tiny little town that gets inundated by tens of thousands of hard rock fans. It’s a fun weekend and wish we could all be there! I got to attend an Ozzfest there many years ago and the atmosphere was great, although I never understood the tossing of bottles filled with a curious made-man yellow liquid. It was disgusting because they would toss those urine-filled projectiles at the stage. And it would be during really great bands. Weird! But the weather was always scary. Actually a big nasty hail and wind storm kicked up and actually toppled the lighting rig from behind System Of A Down‘s drummer John Dolmayan‘s head on the mainstage! I was standing to his right and luckily he & his tech were not hit directly, but the show was stopped for a while to make sure John was ok. I think he was stunned more than injured. Good times!…Linkin Park is streaming The Hunting Party here and has released a new video for “Until It’s Gone,” the second single from the band’s upcoming CD, The Hunting Party. DJ Joe Hahn, who also directed the clip, said, “There is a black ooze that crystallizes the world. It is an infection. This black ooze is representing other music out there. We are merely here to fill in that sliver with the music that we bring. I guess you can say that we are filling a void.” The Hunting Party is out on Tuesday and the band is at Download this weekend…Rise Against has posted a lyric video for “I Don’t Want To Be Here Anymore,” the first single from the Chicago punk act’s seventh studio album, The Black Market. Unlike the band’s earlier, politically tinged tracks, the new song focuses on a damaged relationship. The Black Market is due out on July 15th…..Last time we herd from Incubus was last year at Rock on the Range. But news has surfaced from Pulse of Radio that Incubus singer Brandon Boyd and guitarist Mike Einziger have been working in secret on new music, according to Radio.com. The California-based act has not released a new album since 2011’s If Not Now, When?, but Einziger revealed that the hiatus is coming to an end, saying, “Me and Brandon have been scheming the last couple of weeks. There’s definitely going to be new music. It probably won’t happen until next year but it’s happening.” Einziger added that he and Boyd have been tinkering with song ideas whenever they can spend a little time together, saying, “Everybody’s got a lot of things going on but we’re slowly bringing out focus back to the band and everybody’s excited about it because we’ve had enough time away from it to where it’s exciting for everyone. There’s definitely some really great stuff coming.” Einziger told us when Incubus does get together to make music, there’s no great mystery to how it’s done: “It’s this really organic thing. We literally, like, we sit down and we just play music together. And for better, for worse, whatever comes out of that is what comes out of it, you know. It’s what we’ve always wanted to do and it’s why we keep doing it, you know. And it’s so fun and we’re really lucky to be able to spend our time doing that.”….He’s getting a lot of flack from some animal rights folks and fans who love animals, but never the less Metallica’s James Hetfield is an avid hunter, and was hired by the History Channel to do voiceover for a new series called The Hunt, which chronicles a trek to Canada to hunt a Kodiak bear. The series premiered this past Sunday, June 8 on the History Channel and the first episode, “Predator Or Prey?”, can now be seen at History.com…..Blabbermouth reports Rob Zombie and ex-Marilyn Manson guitarist John 5 (real name: John William Lowery) will digitally release a new solo single, “This Is My Rifle”, on June 17. The track is from his his upcoming album, Careful With That Axe, which will be released later this year. John’s solo band includes Rodger Carter on drums and Matt Bissonette on bass….Have a great day!
