Hey y’all! Back from my extended Memorial Day weekend and I hope you had a great one too. I was happy to see the emails from listeners who look forward to our annual Cover It Up special edition of hardDrive! I love producing that one every year and am thrilled you guys love it as much as I do! So thank you!….Last I heard from Head from Korn, he said the surgery to help pass his large kidney stone went well. And now he’s back home in Nashville recouping. So glad to hear. What an ordeal. Imagine, you are in a band on tour traveling in RUSSIA, of all places, and you get this attack. The band had gigs to play so they have to move on and you are ALONE in a hospital where no one speaks English. What a drag. I would’ve been scared you-know-what-less. He soldiered through. Love you, Head….Blabbermouth reported on this Kerrang story. Legendary guitarist Slash and his backing band, Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, will release World On Fire, the third album to be made available under the Slash solo banner, on September 16 via Slash’s own label Dik Hayd International. A total of 17 songs, including one instrumental, were laid down for the follow-up to 2012’s Apocalyptic Love with producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Alter Bridge, Chevelle, Falling In Reverse, Puddle of Mudd, Saliva). The cover artwork for “World On Fire” was designed by American contemporary artist Ron English. “World On Fire” is also the name of the first single off the album and will be released here in the states in late June. (Myles played it for me and Mark Tremonti at Rock on the Range on the Alter Bridge bus! Sounded AMAZING!) A special fan-pack release (so far for the UK) will consist of:
* The full album * 116-page magazine featuring exclusive interviews with Slash, the band, producer Michael Baskette and cover artist Ron English. A Slash and Myles track-by-track breakdown. Exclusive pictures from the recording sessions as well as a brand new shoot, competition and much more. * Giant double-sided A1 poster * Metal pin badge. Slash recently spoke with the U.K.’s Kerrang! magazine about his third solo album. He remarked, “All I can tell you is that it’s a really fucking great record. I’m very proud of it, but I don’t want to get into, ‘Oh, dude, it’s epic,’ or ‘It’s the heaviest thing ever.’ It’s very rock and roll, and, as always, it’s very diverse in feel, and I’m just super, super proud of everything that we collectively put into making the thing. It’s just going to be a bitchin’ record.” Hoping to get Mr Hudson on the hotLine soon! In the meantime here are some video blogs the band has posted. Here’s one and you can find the rest at Slash.com….One of the interviews I did at Rock on the Range was with Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour. He is nearly finished writing his 3rd book, “You’re Making Me Hate You (The Unofficial Handbook to Uncommonly Common Sense.)” He said he’s got a couple more chapters to go. Corey said it’s more like his first one, but this one is more observation, and “It’s gonna piss some people off. Let’s just say I’m setting aside some funds for when I get sued (laughs). Hopefully I’ll sell enough books to keep me out of jail!” He continued, “I’m not taking the piss out of other people, I’m also a target, so I hope people enjoy it and laugh.” He’s also working on his first novel. “I’m in the baby stages, but that is pretty exciting as well.” Note: this is on TOP of working on a new Slipknot record. The man never stops. Probably because he drinks so much coffee! LOL…..This is surprising. Pulse of Radio saw a story on Alternative Press saying Dexter Holland, lead singer of The Offspring, is being sued by Cessna over payments he owes on a private jet he tried to buy from the aircraft company. In a lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Cessna says Holland owes them $782,422.16. Cessna claims Dexter financed a plane in 2007 but had trouble making payments. The company allowed him to sell the plane privately and give them the funds from the sale, but also made him put up two other planes as collateral. They gave him until 2017 to pay the balance that he owed, but Cessna says he hasn’t made a payment in a year. The aircraft company wants the two other planes or the amount Dexter owes — $782,422.16…..A very Happy 48 today to Sean Kinney of Alice In Chains!
