So excited! Soundgarden will perform its 1994 album Superunknown in its entirety at a special show on June 2nd at Webster Hall in New York City. This will be just the second time that the band performs the album live from start to finish, following a similar show at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, TX back in March. The show will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of the album, which is being reissued in a deluxe & super deluxe editions on June 3rd. Tickets for the concert will only be available to Citi cardmembers. Tickets will cost $19.94 and be available for purchase only with a Citi credit or debit card beginning Wednesday, May 21st at 10:00 a.m. ET. Superunknown, Soundgarden’s fourth studio album, was the band’s commercial breakthrough and sold more than five million copies in the U.S. & 9 million world-wide. Singer Chris Cornell told us Soundgarden wanted to create an epic listening experience when they made Superunknown: “I wanted to be swept away, and I think ‘Superunknown’ was a huge triumph in that direction to me. We really created this atmosphere, this alternate dimension that the listener could go into, and stay there if they wanted, because there’s 16 songs and so many different moods and feels. We didn’t sit and have a discussion about trying to create that, but I think it’s something that we all were really happy we did.” Be listening every night this week and next when we spotlight that interview with Chris. And a 50 minute interview will be made available in the coming weeks, so we looking out for that!…The hardDrive Live Tour with Black Stone Cherry with We As Human and KYNG made the top story yesterday on Pollstar and Digital Tour Bus posted our press release on here. Well, it’s gonna be 1994 all over again when “The Summer Nationals” tour this summer. Pulse of Radio posted this item on the man, the myth & the legend! Slash is continuing his push into film producing that started last year with the horror movie Nothing Left To Fear. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, the former Guns N’ Roses guitarist has signed on as executive producer for Cut Throats Nine, an upcoming Western thriller starring Mads Mikkelsen from TV’s Hannibal (OMG, I love him, too!) and Harvey Keitel of Reservoir Dogs and The Grand Budapest Hotel fame. Slash told us what attracted him to becoming a movie producer: “I didn’t set out one day and go, ‘Hey, you know, I’d really like to produce movies’ and make some phone calls. It was sort of dropped into my lap by another producer. And I really wasn’t sure, you know, I didn’t know if I had the aptitude for it, you know — like, what exactly does that entail? But from a creative point of view, I was all over it, and so I just sort of jumped in and found that it didn’t feel all that different than the way I feel when I’m making music.” Slash said in a statement about the new film, “It’s a brilliant script with great characters. The story is gritty, tough, shocking and ballsy with great twists and turns throughout.” Although Nothing Left To Fear came out last year under Slash’s own production banner, Slasher Films, that company doesn’t appear to be involved in Cut Throats Nine. Cut Throats Nine is a remake of a 1972 Spanish spaghetti Western about a band of U.S. cavalrymen escorting a group of convicts across the Rocky Mountains. After most of the troops are killed, one sergeant and his daughter remain, determined to bring the prisoners the rest of the way on foot. No release date has been announced, but production is expected to begin late this year…..Last weekend, Maynard Keenan performed two nights at the Greek Theater in Hollywood with two of his 3 bands: Puscifer & A Perfect Circle. At times he was joined on stage by Tool members Danny Carey & Justin Chancellor for “Sober”. Maynard called these shows Cinquanta, for fifty in Italian. His 50th was actually April 17th. He’s been partying for a month, I guess. Meanwhile, no news on when a new album from Tool will be announced….And finally today, congrats to Seether on a successful second Rise Above Festival, this year held in Bangor, ME! Over 6,000 fans attended the show with Avenged Sevenfold, Black Stone Cherry, Hellyeah, Devour The Day and KYNG, who along with Seether, helped to raise money and awareness of SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) and the New England Institute for Mental Health. Shaun Morgan’s brother Gene committed suicide while on tour with Seether back in 2007. We’ll talk to Shaun about this and their new album this weekend at Rock on the Range!….And finally today, also from our friends at Pulse of Radio, Ozzy Osbourne‘s plan to convert a barn on the property of his home in Buckinghamshire, England into a house has been rejected by the local council because of the impact it could have on the bats living there. According to BBC News, Osbourne applied for permission from the Chiltern District Council to convert the barn into a two-bedroom home. But the application was turned down because of “considerable evidence” that bats and owls lived there, with the council saying that measures had to be put in place to protect the animals. Bats are a protected species under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and The Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations of 2010. This could be some sort of karmic revenge for the bat species against the Black Sabbath singer, who bit the head off a live bat onstage during a solo concert in Des Moines, Iowa in 1982….New in stores today, Avatar‘s Hail The Apocalypse….Happy 5-0 today to Stephen Colbert! Happy 75th to Harvey Keitel!
