SO EXCITED! Black Stone Cherry is on the summer hardDrive Live Tour and the website is now up and rocking! Keep an eye out for a big announce on Monday! Check it out!…..OK, if this doesn’t prove this guy is ADD, I dunno WHAT does! 😉 Pulse of Radio says just two days after Foo Fighters played a surprise two-hour show at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. on Monday night (May 5th), frontman Dave Grohl popped up unannounced on Wednesday night (May 7th) in Nashville, Tennessee, to play an hour-long solo acoustic set for less than 100 people at the Bluebird Cafe. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer reportedly began his show by saying, “My name’s Dave Grohl. I’m a drummer,” before regaling the small audience with unplugged versions of”Times Like These,” “Big Me,” “Friend Of A Friend,” “My Hero,” “Skin And Bones,” “Wheels,” “Learn To Fly,” “Ballad Of The Beaconsfield Miners” and “Everlong.” Just like Monday night’s show, Grohl did not debut any new material from the band’s upcoming eighth album. There was a camera crew on hand to capture the entire performance, so presumably the footage will surface at some point. Me thinks he’s either (1) he’s planning to join the rock migration & is moving to the Music City or (2) he’s up to something in a studio there or (3) he’s visiting with Nick Raskulinecz. One of the three. Can’t believe there is NO FAN FILMED FOOTAGE! Come on people!…Metallica can check off another item on their bucket list this year, as it was announced on Thursday (May 8th) that the band will headline the U.K.’s prestigious Glastonbury Festival on June 28th. The band issued a statement saying, “We’ve made no secret that there was still one live music festival on our wish list that has eluded us . . . until now! It is with a great deal of pride that we announce that we have been tapped to headline the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival.” The band added, “Over the forty plus years of its existence, a widely diverse group of artists have graced the stage including Paul McCartney, Oasis, David Bowie, U2, Muse,Stevie Wonder, Radiohead, Neil Young, Jay-Z and so many more. We’re psyched and honored to be among the first hard rock bands to hit the Pyramid Stage and join this prestigious group.” Although the band will be doing “all request” shows on the rest of its summer European run, the Glastonbury gig will not be in that format….The Black Keys announced a HUMUNGOUS tour starting September. And little secret: look for them tonight on one of those network late-night talk shows. Not cutely but sorta hinting… Was on the hotLine yesterday with Five Finger Death Punch’s Jeremy Spencer! We were chatting and Five Finger and Volbeat are teaming up for a fall North American co-headlining tour, and one of the unique aspects of the package is that the two bands will be sharing production costs together. Jeremy told us that will make for a bigger show all around: “It’s better for the fans. If everyone has all the stuff that they want, that’s what makes the show exciting, and the fans are gonna walk away from that going, ‘Man, you have to go see that, that was incredible!’ So I think it’s awesome. The more stuff, the better. Let’s have everyone bring all the toys they want.” And look for more comedy stuff from this guy with his friend Bobbie Wilson in the coming weeks. They crack me up!….Celebrating birthdays: Today Depeche Mode frontman David Gahan is 51, Billy Joel is 65. Saturday, U2’s Bono is 54 and Tool’s Danny Carey is 53. Sunday, Apocalyptica’s Perttu Kivilaasko is 36…..Gotta dash. Lots to do to get ready for Rock on the Range. See ya Monday!
