Is Game Of Thrones getting really really good, or what!?…..Had a great interview on Friday with Chris Cornell of Soundgarden. It was a relaxed conversation about the making of Superunknown and the history of Soundgarden and the Seattle scene. Can’t wait for you to hear it the weekend of May 17-18 on hardDrive with Lou Brutus….Meanwhile, we’re devastated about yet another horrible disaster in Oklahoma & Arkansas. Hearts go out to all impacted…. Pulse of Radio shared this item and I am sharing it with you! Foo Fighters frontman and Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl told Rolling Stone he thinks Lorde has an “incredible future” ahead of her. Grohl explained why she was one of four female singers tapped to sing with the members of Nirvana during the band’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this month, saying, “There’s something about her that represented or resembled the Nirvana aesthetic. She has an incredible future ahead of her as a writer, performer and vocalist.” Grohl recalled the first time he heard the 17-year-old singer-songwriter, saying, “I was driving. My two daughters, Violet and Harper, who are eight and five years old, started singing along. I was so happy and relieved that my two girls were singing a popular song on the radio that had some substance and depth, which I considered to be healthy for them as kids. I know that sounds kind of parent-ish.” Grohl added, “When I first heard ‘Royals’ it was sandwiched between all of that other stripper pop . . . When I met her I said, ‘When I first heard your song on the radio and my kids sang along I felt like there was hope for my kids to grow up in an environment which is more than just superficial.‘” Lorde sang “All Apologies” at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony with Grohl, bassist Krist Novoselic and guitarist Pat Smear, joining Joan Jett, Kim Gordon and St. Vincent to pay tribute to the late Kurt Cobain…Marilyn Manson made his TV scoring debut on Sunday night (April 27th), with the song “Cupid Carries A Gun” heard on the new WGN series Salem. Manson told the Hollywood Reporter that the song “was the last track we just finished for my new album. The occult and witchcraft (are) so often used in cinema with a heinous disregard for even researching its origins. However, I liked the themes of Salem. It looks at the witch trials without being cliche like most modern films.” Manson co-wrote the track with Salem composer Tyler Bates, who said, “Manson and I wrote a draft of ‘Cupid Carries A Gun’ shortly before I began working on the score for Salem. A couple weeks later I saw the title sequence and the song immediately came to mind.” Manson has been steadily working his way into television in the past couple of years, making appearances on Showtime’s Californication, the Sundance Channel’s Wrong Cops and HBO’s Eastbound & Down, along with voicing a demonic character on ABC’s Once Upon A Time. Kurt Sutter, creator of the FX series Sons Of Anarchy, recently teased that Manson will show up on that show’s seventh season, saying, “He’ll be the guy riding the dragon.” Mr Manson, aka Brian Warner, has been working on a new album after spending most of last year touring behind 2012’s Born Villain….When the news came down last year about the crimes against children committed by Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins, I was devastated for the rest of the band since they are really stand up people and were in no way aware of what was up with their singer, so I am super happy to read this story: According to Radio Cardiff in Wales, singer Geoff Rickly of the punk act Thursday revealed he was working with the group, saying, “I’ve been talking to the remaining members of that band, because they’re really good guys. I really want to be a part of what they do. I want to be a part of their second chance, because, like, people don’t really think of what happens to the other members, but that. That took away their life. What happened is just devastating for them. I mean really, here in Wales, so many people have personal interaction with those guys . . . they are such good people.” Rickly did not confirm whether he would sing with the band, but stated that he would be helping them through his record label, saying, “It’s been my honor to work with them on their new band from a label perspective. Rickly said the unnamed project sounds like “a little bit of New Order, little bit of Joy Division, little bit of The Cure, it’s just so forward thinking.” Will have to keep an eye open on this….. Found this over on Blabbermouth. Reported last week our friend Lzzy Hale of Halestorm is featured on a song called “Shatter Me” by classical violinist Lindsey Stirling. Today a video has surfaced for the tune, and you can check out the video here…..Judas Priest are back and have announced their new album. Redeemer of Souls, will drop in the US on July 15th. The record is the first with new guitarist Richie Faulkner, who replaced original member KK Downing. KK retired in 2011. The band is celebrating their 40th anniversary! …..Happy 61st today to Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon.
