Good Monday! Saw Divergent this weekend. With about 30 teens. I hate being that SHHHHH person, but I was that SHHHH person in the theater. I mean, who claps when characters kiss? LOL…. Vinnie Paul Abbott will arrive in the hardDriveRadio studios. We are gonna find out all about the new Hellyeah album Blood For Blood, the new single “Sangre Por Sangre (Blood For Blood),” why the need to change personnel, and the 20th anniversary of Pantera‘s Far Beyond Driven CD/DVD set. Looking forward to seeing my ole pal. Take a look at a webisode with frontman Chad Gray here. The band is releasing two songs: “Sangre Por Sangre” and “Cross to Bier (Cradle Bones)” on iTunes tomorrow. Hit hellyeahband.com for more ..Meanwhile, despite new photos from the scene of Kurt Cobain‘s crime scene in his Seattle area home back in April of 1994, the Seattle police department have officially closed the door on this case. They have ruled it to be a suicide. The police have not reopened the case, nor will there be a different ruling as a result of the photos. We’re not going to show them here. They just show a cigar box with contents including his works, drugs, a tube of ointment, as well as a butted cigarette and sunglasses on the floor next to the box. It makes me sad to think about what could have been with Nirvana and Kurt’s life, which was cut way too short. If he had help, would things have been better or was he destined. No one will ever know….Five Finger Death Punch posted the music video for “House Of The Rising Sun” on Vevo. Shot in the desert outside of Las Vegas, the members of 5FDP discuss the single in a webisode on how they changed up the classic folk song to give it a hard-rock vibe, most notably, by switching the song’s time signature from 6/8 to 4/4. Watch the webisode here: http://bit.ly/1cX5YeF…..Here’s a tour that will be announced soon. Slash and Aerosmith. For me, I am stoked. I knew the Aerosmith guys in the early 70’s when I lived in Boston. My roommate at the time dated drummer Joey Kramer. So we’d go to their gigs, babysit his great dane when they toured. It was fun times. They were the biggest rock band to come out of Boston at the time (we had the J. Geils Band, but they had a different audience.) So it will be killer to see the guys again. Looking forward. We’ll have dates in Road Rage as soon as they are announced….Alter Bridge will release a new live CD, DVD and Blu-ray titled Live In Milan in early June. The show was taped at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan, Italy on Nov 12th, 2013 in front of a sold-out crowd of over 10,000 fans and shot in hi-def video. The show includes 18 songs off all four of the band’s studio albums and features a special guest appearance by Halestorm‘s Lzzy Hale. (Blabbermouth)….Jaco, a film produced by Metallica bass player Robert Trujillo, has been named the official film of Record Store Day 2014. The documentary chronicles the life and career of legendary bassist Jaco Pastorius. Trujillo said in a statement, “There’s a reason why Record Store Day is making people head bang, rock out, relax and simply smile. It’s all about the joy and power of words, music and sound, not to mention the dynamic range of visual art that goes hand in hand with a record cover, jacket, or sleeve; and you might even get a poster.” Jaco’s image will appear on the official Record Store Day poster, which will be given out at participating stores while supplies last. Record Store Day falls this year on April 19th. (Gibson)….Oh man, this is random: AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson performed “You Shook Me All Night Long” with, wait for it, BILLY JOEL during the Pianoman’s Madison Square Garden date on Friday night. Here’s proof. Crazy, right? And Billy’s guitarist did a great solo, I might add! AC/DC are reportedly hitting a studio in Vancouver, BC in May to record their next album….Forgot to mention Seether’s Shaun Morgan told me last week the band’s first single will be called “Words As Weapons.” Expect the new album in June. And my conversation with M Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold revealed the band is getting the bugs out of their mobile game and it will be worth the wait when it finally drops. Keep on eye on the Hail to the King: Deathbat Facebook page for updates. He also told me the run with Hellyeah and Adrenaline Mob will be a chance to bring a bunch of different production out with them so they can decide that they’ll bring out for a tour later this summer. “This Means War” will be their next single coming in early April and apparently, the music video they did for it didn’t turn out as expected. I told Matt the fan-edited video on YouTube (a dude took footage from Saving Private Ryan and (illegally) stitched together a killer video to the music.) The band is gonna check it out! Stay tuned for more….Sadly, another member of Gwar has died. Co-founder and frontman Dave Brockie aka Oderus Urungus was found in his Richmond, VA home last night by roommates. Detectives have not detected foul play and an autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death. Randy Blythe of Lamb of God did a touching tribute and Chris Kael of Five Finger Death Punch also offered his condolences online, along with many others. Gwar lost their guitarist Cory Smoot aka Flattus Maximus back in 2011. The band’s management will release a formal statement later today.
