Good morning! Five Finger Death Punch drummer Jeremy Spencer told Loudwire he is working on an autobiography in which he will discuss his long struggle with drug addiction. Spencer revealed, “It’s almost a story of redemption. I had chemical dependency issues even from a young age. I battled through addictions and overcoming adversities of just trying to make it in the music business just like anyone.” He added the book is “an inspirational story of anyone that’s trying to achieve that dream and anyone that’s struggling with addiction. There’s ways to overcome it and persevere and come out clean on the other side; that’s what the book’s about.” Spencer admitted he went into rehab two years ago, “I almost died a few times. The last time my heart was close to stopping and I was just laying there thinking, ‘How bummed out are my parents going to be?’ and that bummed me out. That was it, it was like ‘You have so much good happening with the band.’” Spencer said he began writing the book as soon as he got out of rehab, adding, “My dad helped me re-write it and make it something that could be read because my draft was pretty brutal and he was like, ‘You’ll be hated if you release that.’ He helped me re-work it and then I got a book deal.” Look for the book sometime next spring….Pulse of Radio reports Nine Inch Nails made the first network TV appearance of the band’s 25-year career on Thursday night (Nov 7th), when the group performed on the outdoor stage for ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The broadcast portion of the five-song set featured the new song “Various Means Of Escape” from the band’s latest album, Hesitation Marks. “All Time Low” was performed next for an online-only segment, then the band broke out three more numbers exclusively for the crowd: the classic “Sanctified,” the Hesitation Marks single “Came Back Haunted” and “The Hand That Feeds” from the 2005 album With Teeth. Although Nine Inch Nails never appeared on network TV before Thursday night, the band did perform on a cable show called Dance Party USA many years ago. It’s pretty funny. Check it out here. But Trent was none too happy-watch the behind the scene. (Warning: he says a swear word.) Watch the Kimmel performance here. Main man Trent Reznor reactivated Nine Inch Nails in 2013 after a four-year break, recording the Hesitation Marks album and assembling a new version of the band for live work. The current Tension trek hits El Paso, Texas tonight (Nov 11th) and will wind down on Nov 25th in Calgary, Alberta….I dunno about you, but I like Jared Leto as an actor and musician, and I am looking forward to seeing his new film when it opens. The 30 Seconds To Mars frontman told Collider in a recent interview he jumped at the chance to appear in the new film Dallas Buyers Club despite taking fewer film roles in recent years because of his busy schedule with the band. Leto explained, “I fell in love with the role. I thought the script was great and I loved the story. Matthew (McConaughey) being involved was a huge factor and I thought the director (Jean-Marc Vallee) was really talented.” It was reported Leto did an audition on Skype wearing pink lipstick. He won the role as a transvestite in the film and I hear it could get him an Oscar nomination for sure. Despite taking long breaks between roles, Leto added, “I love films, I love making films. I’m a film fan first, films have changed my life. I love, love, love films, filmmakers, cameras, cinematography. I love editing, I love it all. And I do quite a bit of it, I just happen to act rarely. Leto told us a while back that he’s much more selective about the projects he picks these days: “You know, I don’t make films very often. I tend to kind of take my time and wait for things that I feel are really special and challenging and unique, and being so busy with the music is great, because it allows me to take my time and be a little more careful with my choices with the movies.”….Gotta run.
