Five Finger Death Punch‘s new album, The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell, Volume 1, sold 112,000 copies in the U.S. to debut at Number Two on the Billboard album chart on Wednesday (August 7th). The record arrived in stores on July 30th. The chart and first-week sales numbers are both career highs for the group, whose previous effort, 2011’s American Capitalist, sold 91,000 copies in its first seven days to enter the chart at Number Three. The group’s 2009 sophomore album, War Is The Answer, moved 44,000 copies to land at Number Seven. All three previous Five Finger Death Punch releases have gone gold. The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell, Volume 1 is the first half of a two-record set, with the second half due to arrive sometime this fall. Guitarist Zoltan Bathory told us he’s anxious to get that one out as soon as possible: “Right now we’re sitting on the second record that’s locked away, and some of my favorite songs just happen to be on that one. So this is a really difficult time where, as an artist, you want to put it out there, but we just have to wait with it until October or somewhere around there, November.”….Wow, this IS sad. The 43-year-old man who tried to break into Kid Rock‘s home in Clarkston, Michigan has been arraigned on felony charges of attempted home invasion, malicious destruction of a building and malicious destruction of property, according to Billboard. All three charges carry possible prison sentences of five years. The man, Brian D. Keith of Independence Township, was arraigned on Tuesday (August 6th) in Clarkston District Court. He asked for a court-appointed attorney and is being held on $75,000 bond. Keith was arrested last Saturday (August 3rd) after surveillance photos from security cameras on Rock’s property showed him ramming open the property gate with a 1994 Ford van and attempting to break into the house — all while on crutches — and causing an estimated $30,000 in damage. Keith, who also had crutches with him during his hearing, told the District Court judge that he has problems with his legs. He explained, “I had 15 screws and two plates put in my knee. Nurses come by every other day. I have to start intense physical therapy or else I’ll never walk again.” Although Keith asked for a low bond, the judge denied that request due to Keith’s 14 previous convictions as an adult, including several for drunken driving and fraud. Judge Joseph Fabrizio said, “I do not find that you have strong ties to the community. You have an out-of-state criminal history. While you have seven children, you do not have any custody of them.” Keith is due back in court next Monday (August 12th)….Happy 4-0 to Creed’s Scott Stapp….Happy 52nd to U2’s The Edge.
