Chester Bennington of Linkin Park unveiled his new band over the weekend in Tempe, AZ. The band, Dead Before Sunrise, is Chester on vocal, Ryan Shuck (Orgy, Julien-K) on guitar, Amir Derahk (Orgy, Julien-K) on keyboards/programming, and Anthony "Fu" Valik (I guess on drums, wasn't made clear.) Dead Before Sunrise was part of the 13th anniversary party for Chester's Club Tattoo, a chain of tattoo, piercing and fashion shops he formed with a partner and his ex-wife. Sounds like the party was fun!....Filter's "Soldiers of Misfortune" music video hits Yahoo!Music today and his new album, "Anthems for the Damned," is released tomorrow. The band will be here in NYC tomorrow for a release party and performance at Mercury Lounge! Also in town this week, Serj Tankian and Seether, Flyleaf and Red. Busy!...Also in stores tomorrow, the new 10 Years album, "Division," that I also think you are gonna like. Please get out and support the new music!....Slipknot has another new image, which we guess are showing the new masks. Those boys scare me sometimes. www.slipknot1.com ....Sorry to hear Otep was forced to reschedule her current tour due to severe throat polyps. I always say, singers who scream, ya gotta do vocal warm ups and cool downs. You just can't scream for 90 minutes and expect it NOT to damage your throat! See a vocal specialist if you are in a band who screams. This is what happens if you don't take care of your vocal chords. Especially if the end result is the chance of losing your ability to sing! |

Be careful if you own an American car or truck! People are stealing YOUR GASOLINE! Especially you truckers! Be cautious! Buy a gas cap lock & alarm your cars!....I read on Blabbermouth this morning that AC/DC's Brian Johnson was on the phone with a local Philadelphia radio DJ and Brian revealed that indeed, AC/DC have finished recording their new album and it is "absolutely excellent!" Meanwhile, he also said that the Young Brothers, Angus and Malcolm, are in Vancouver with producers Brendan O'Brien and Mike Fraser mixing the thing! And that it could come out by the end of the year WITH A TOUR! Now THAT is music to my ears! I love these guys to death! And I gotta research which Sony label this is coming out on. First I heard Columbia, then Epic. Stay tuned!....Here's a good one I saw this morning on Pulse of Radio, our sister company. Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl has posted an "open letter" to Metallica online, in which he writes in part, "Dear Metallica: Hey, it's Dave! Remember me? Yeah, I'm the guy that's been listening to your band faithfully since 1983. I bought your first album Kill 'Em All...that album changed my life and I've been listening to your albums ever since (even St. Anger!). I can't wait to hear the new s***, and no matter what you guys do I'll always be first one at the shop waiting to hear it. I'm sure you'll come out and blow everybody's f***in' minds, because you're f***in' Metallica!"Grohl concluded his letter by wishing the band good luck and telling them not release the new record until it's "kick-ass." He added a last line asking, "Are you finished recording the drums yet?" -- a joking reference to drummer Lars Ulrich's often painstaking recording process on past albums. Metallica's new album is tentatively due out in September. The band is putting the finishing touches on the disc after more than a year and a half of work.... Chester Bennington of Linkin Park will unveil his new band, Dead Before Sunrise, this weekend in Phoenix at his Club Tattoo 13th anniversary party. He will also be on hand tonight in LA at the MusiCares MAP Awards presentation to Alice Cooper. Slash will also attend the event....And also tonight in LA, Nikki Sixx gets an award from Covenant House....Buckcherry have entered an LA studio to begin recording their next album...In This Moment have chosen Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne) to produce their next album they hope to have out by the end of the year or early 09....According a report on TuneLabMusic, they saw something on England's Metal Hammer mag site that said Limp Bizkit might be making a comeback (again) without Wes Borland. And that the band is auditioning guitar players for a possible European tour this year! WOW....Scars on Broadway's album is set for Jul 29th....Rev Theory have a bunch of dates and I put them in Road Rage....Have a killer weekend! NBA playoffs, Mother's Day and homework for this gal. Oh well! But be sure you listen to your favorite weekend show, hardDrive and the nightly hardDrive XL with Lou Brutus! And welcome to our newest night affiliate, The Blaze 102.7 in Mason City, IA! WOO HOO! See you on Monday! |

Judas Priest were so awesome yesterday during their stop at our studios yesterday! Always such gentlemen, we had a great time and great laughs! Love that they are so down to earth! "Nostradamus" hits stores Jun 17th. 100 minutes. Two disc set. And the tour is gonna be kick ass with Heaven and Hell, Motorhead and Testament! I'll be at the soundboard!....Fieldy from Korn is working away on not only his autobiography, "Got the Life," due Oct 28th, but also on a jazz-influenced-side project called StillWell. I gotta check in with the Korn camp. Munky's side project should be ready to see the light of day soon....Scars on Broadway, indeed, have decided to ink with Interscope. Seems curious that both System of a Down band mates, who were on Columbia, decided to take their solo projects elsewhere. Hmmmm.....Ya know, Lou and I thought of this idea, but we never could get it off the ground, but Cinemax has. It's a new series called "Cinemax Tour Stories" (duh, could you've come up with a better title?) and bands will appear talking about their best "tour tales." Theory of a Deadman will be the first band and the series starts in June....More deluxe versions of new albums to look for: 3 Doors Down's self titled set will include acoustic versions of "It's Not My Time" and "It's the Only One You've Got." ....And to the makers of "Grand Theft Auto IV," YOU ROCK! Six MILLION copies have been sold since it came out....Happy 55th to Alex Van Halen! |

Got a biiizzzeee day today! The mighty Judas Priest is coming in and we gotta clean up the studio! Plus we're prepping for Rock on the Range. A killer two day event with like 34 bands, most of which we won't get to see, unfortunately, as we will be jumping between two stages, 30 buses and some dressing rooms to talk to everyone. We've done so many of these shows, it's like Lou says, we are commandoes on the site. We are on a mission...Anyhow, I have been listening to the Disturbed album. It is their finest work to date and I am so proud of the way the guys have stepped it up, on their own, without a producer! Congrats and can't wait to see you in Columbus! Meanwhile, Lou is going to Fort Wayne on the 15th to interview the band for an album premiere we will be doing with the guys. Very exciting! The band just released the video for "Inside the Fire" where David Draiman is seen before the video begins to talk about the sensitive issue of suicide that is dealt with in the clip. He tells viewers that if anyone watching the clip is suicidal or knows someone who is, to please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Meanwhile, if you pre-order the "Indestructible" album, you get a bonus song called "Run," a VIP laminate for the RockStar Mayhem Tour that apparently gets you into a special tent, a dvd documentary of the making of the album and access to a special website. I also hear Disturbed plan a secret club show on home turf next week! And to top that off, on May 29th, Disturbed will stream their May 29th Las Vegas show at www.DeepRockDrive.com. Nice! ....Speaking of websites, ya know Metallica are launching www.MissionMetallica.com on Monday. Lars Ulrich told an LA radio station on Monday that the site will offer fans videos of the making of the album, even stuff with the band coming up with song and album titles, mising sessions, contests, updates and more. Cool!...Glad to hear Bullet For My Valentine bassist Jason "Jay" James is back with the band after a health scare with his baby daughter. Their new single rocks called "Waking the Demon."...Kid Rock is going to tour during the month of August with Lynyrd Skynyrd on what they are calling the "Rock and Rebel Tour." Nice! I've got 'em in Road Rage....Apocalyptica are now rumored to be on the Ozzfest dates. According to Blabbermouth, the band has added a handful of dates in and around the Dallas, TX area in early August. The shows are rumored to be Aug 9 & 10. See the new dates in Road Rage....Taproot are doing a local show at the Crofoot Ballroom this week. Hit their My Space for info on the show in Pontiac....The deluxe edition of Shinedown's "The Sound of Madness" features 3 bonus tracks: "I Own You," "Energy" and "Son of Sam." There's another band I'm looking forward to seeing on Rock on the Range! And Seether have also added some new headlining dates in several hardDrive towns! See Road Rage and see Seether now on tour with Flyleaf! |
