“The Sky Is A Neighborhood,” indeed! Good way to start the day off with a new Dave Grohl-directed Foo Fighters video! Yeah! Counting the days til their new Concrete & Gold album is released Sep 15th.
I don’t think this tweet from Linkin Park needs any further explanation.
I love this! Blabbermouth is reporting today Ozzy Osbourne performed his classic song “Bark At The Moon” during Monday’s (Aug 21st) solar eclipse, marking the moment during his headlining set at Carterville, IL’s Moonstock festival. Ozzy performed the song, the 1983 title track from his third solo album, at the height of the eclipse at 1:20 p.m. local time.
According to The Southern Illinoisan, Ozzy walked on stage at Walker’s Bluff as the first ring of the eclipse appeared, and began to sing the song as the shadow of the moon swept across the crowd. The area was the southernmost parts of Illinois and a part of the U.S. that experienced the longest duration at two minutes and 41 seconds.”
Ozzy’s band kicked off “Bark at the Moon” in pure daylight. The sky began to dim as Ozzy hit his first verse and chorus. By the time the metal legend’s second verse came, the moon fully obscured the sun, sending Moonstock into complete darkness.
Nearly 12,000 people reportedly turned up to see the eclipse and Osbourne at Walker’s Bluff, with many of them coming from outside the U.S. The singer told the audience, “I don’t think I’ve ever been in this part of the world before. I love you all. Thank you for coming to see me.”
Ozzy finished a farewell tour with Black Sabbath earlier this year and is reportedly working on a new solo album.
Hope whoever filmed that didn’t go blind by not wearing his protective glasses!
Billy Corgan, now calling himself William Patrick Corgan as a solo artist, will release his second solo album, titled Ogilala, on Oct 13th. The disc was produced by Rick Rubin and recorded in Malibu, CA, with Corgan mainly playing acoustic guitar and piano on most of the songs. Yesterday the single, “Aeronaut,” was released to radio.
Corgan said about the project, “For as long as I can remember the delineation point between songs I wrote for myself and songs I’d pen for whatever band was something I couldn’t explain. And it remains so, for they all feel quite personal to me, no matter their time or era. The lone difference on songs for ‘Ogilala’ is that they seemed to want little in the way of adornment. Having written the songs for voice and guitar, I put myself in Rick’s hands to take the music wherever he’d like.”
The full album will be available digitally, on CD and on 180-gram gatefold vinyl. A limited edition blue vinyl LP will be available directly from Corgan’s webstore and a limited edition pink vinyl will be available at select indie retailers.
Corgan will also embark on a solo acoustic North American tour that kicks off on Oct 14th in Brooklyn, NY and wraps up on Nov 11th in L.A.. Each night’s show will consist of two sets, with Corgan playing songs from Ogilala in the first and material from across his entire career in the second.
Confirmed William Patrick Corgan North American tour dates (subject to change) are posted in Road Rage.
Sevendust are in the very early stages of writing new music for their 12th studio album (12, if you count the acoustic album, Time Travelers and Bonfires.) Our close personal pals have selected Michael “Elvis” Baskette to produce, which to me, seems like an excellent choice. This is a band who’ve been sorely overlooked as one of America’s most prolific and powerful band, both live and on record. We love these guys, who also were headliners for a past hardDrive Live Tour! I am anxious to find out what they’ll be up to and looking forward to new music!
For you Stranger Things fans, Stranger Things Season Two isn’t set to land on Netflix for a few months, but the creators have already confirmed a third season. “We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” co-creator Ross Duffer told Vulture. While the Duffer Brothers were not forthcoming with specifics, there have been hints that the show’s structure will be changed and that Season 4 will be a natural conclusion. Stranger Things returns Oct 27th.
And this is a killer trailer for Blade Runner 2049, starring Ryan Gossling, Harrison Ford and Thirty Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto!
Happy 56th to Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots!
