Good morning. MONDAY! FOO FIGHTERS! Big announcement! That is all!…. How cool the San Antonio Spurs hired a woman as a full-time coach to the staff. That rules!…..Meanwhile, what’s up with these Russian hackers? Leave us alone, yo! Reminds us how important it is to change our passwords frequently….Well, here’s a great way to start your day. Watch the new Slipknot video for “The Negative One.” Cree-py! The Goat heads are back! And you can see the new Slipknot double goat head logo at the end of the clip. Apparently, it’s only the first of new things we will be seeing from the band. I am hearing lots more is in store. Hard to believe this is the first new song released by the band in six years. The track is taken from the group’s upcoming fifth album, which is due out in October. The yet-to-be-titled disc follows up 2008’s All Hope Is Gone and is the band’s first without founding bassist Paul Gray, who died in 2010, and drummer Joey Jordison who was let go late last year. Singer Corey Taylor told us fans will have to wait a bit longer for things like the new drummer’s identity and the record’s title: “We’re keeping a lot of that under wraps, out of fairness, because we want the music to speak for itself. We don’t want people listening to our music and making up their minds about something before they even know what the music is. So trust me, you know, when the time is right, we will give you the answers that you need, and that’s the way it is.” Reports have suggested Slipknot has recruited drummer Jay Weinberg to play on the new album and tour. Weinberg is the son of Max Weinberg, longtime Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band drummer. The clip for “The Negative One” was directed by Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan, who has directed most of the band’s music videos and concert documentaries. Taylor told the BBC “The Negative One” is not the official first single from the album, explaining, “That was just a gift for the fans, like we wanted them to hear a piece of the album. The single comes out in a few weeks and it’s completely different. It’s more melodic, but it’s dark, it’s powerful man, its something different, people are going to lose their minds when they hear that.” Meanwhile, the second edition of Slipknot’s Knotfest event will take place on Oct 24th, 25th and 26th in San Bernardino, CA. More than two dozen other acts will join the headliners, including Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat, Of Mice And Men, In This Moment, Hellyeah, Atreyu and many others. Can not wait to go!…..Hmmm, we speculators were only speculating and we were wrong, wrong wrong! Pulse of Radio also reporting this morning the statement Monday from Adrenaline Mob/Disturbed bassist Jon Moyer had been misconstrued. So sorry, Disturbed fans, but it doesn’t look like the band’s hiatus is ending any time soon. Jon went online on Tuesday (Aug 5th) to clarify he wasn’t pulling out of a fall tour with his other band, Adrenaline Mob because of Disturbed being reactivated, as some fans speculated. Moyer wrote his decision had “nothing to do with Disturbed,” adding he is finishing up production projects with two bands and has three more booked for the next two months. In addition he will be “overseeing big plans with my rock school John Moyer’s Natural Ear Music School in the fall.” Jon has been operating this music school in Austin for several years now. Good on him!….The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen turned 21 on Jul 26th (how did I miss that!) but finally got to celebrate over the weekend with a party at Harrah’s Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. In addition to the event, Momsen’s fans celebrated her birthday with a record-breaking online greeting card that logged more than 14,000 signatures and over 38,000 visits in just one weekend. The previous record holder was Robert Downey Jr., who got a card in 2013 signed by 5,339 followers. OK Tay, you can have a drink now!…With the Carnivores Tour about to start on Friday in West Palm Beach, FL, Linkin Park is once again continuing its longstanding tradition of contributing one dollar per ticket sold on the trek to Music For Relief in support of disaster relief and programs to protect and restore the environment. The tour, which also features 30 Seconds To Mars and AFI, hits 25 cities across the U.S….Following her appearance last night (Aug 5th) on ABC’s CMA Music Festival special with Eric Church, Halestorm’s and ASK LZZY’s Lzzy Hale will join classical-rock crossover violinist Lindsey Stirling on tonight (Aug 6th) to perform the title track of Stirling’s sophomore album, “Shatter Me,” on America’s Got Talent at 9:00 p.m. ET on NBC. Hale also sings on the studio version of the track. Guess these collaborations with her are becoming quite popular, eh? We love you, Lzzy! Check her out at last night’s CMA performance…..Unfortunately, a change in Nickelback‘s recording schedule is resulting in the postponement of the visit from Chad Kroeger and Ryan Peake that was set for tomorrow. I was looking forward! But there will be a listening session in NYC for the unmixed material, so they must be getting closer to the completion of the record. The first single is called “Edge of a Revolution” and it hits radio Aug 18. The guys will be here in a few weeks…Blabbermouth reports Scranton, PA-based metalcore quintet Motionless In White will release its third studio album, “Reincarnate”, on September 16 via Fearless. Produced by Dan Korneff (Breaking Benjamin, My Chemical Romance, Lamb of God), the follow-up to Infamous includes the new single “Reincarnate,” which was made available on Jul 8. The CD features guest appearances by Dani Filth (Cradle Of Filth), Maria Brink (In This Moment) and Tim Skold (Skold. Marilyn Manson.) The official lyric video for the song “Puppets III (The Grand Finale)” — featuring a guest appearance by Dani Filth — can be seen here. “I think I speak for most artists of any kind when I say that it’s a rarity to step back from something you created and feel 100% satisfied without seeing the flaws or things you wish you had made differently,” said singer Chris Motionless. “This is the first time in my life I’ve composed an album and have departed from the studio feeling like everything I’ve ever wanted to accomplish, has finally materialized. I put past mistakes behind me and focused on becoming a new body of musical existence, while maintaining the characteristics that I enjoyed most about our band. As it is mine, this will absolutely be your favorite Motionless record.” The band returned to the road to introduce North America to “Reincarnate” as a main-stage act on the Vans Warped Tour 2014, which kicked off last month in Houston, TX. Here’s the lyric video for “Reincarnate.” Have a great day!
