Wow. I was at the 1964 World’s Fair that took place in Flushing Meadows (Queens), NY right near LaGuardia airport. I was a pre-teen, and I remember the auto exhibit. It had the “cars of the future.” Oddly enough, they look EXACTLY like the cars today!….Rob Zombie told Pulse of Radio he is working on his next project: a horror film. Sadly, his Broad Street Bullies film went in the dumpster after too much red tape. I was actually interested in that. Zombie also revealed he was working on a new TV miniseries about the Manson Family murders with American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis. But Zombie said his new horror movie will come out first: “The other thing is an original thing of my own which is definitely a horror thing. It’s definitely in the vein, I think, of what fans of what I’ve done in the past would enjoy. So that one’s moving along about a million times faster than the other thing, so that’ll be the next project.”….Was on the hotLine with Michael Poulsen of Volbeat. He said once he gets home next month for about 3 weeks, he plans to start work on some new songs he hopes the band will start to work into their sets over the summer in Europe. A new record could be in the works for release early next year. They performed last night at the legendary (and very old) Agora Theater in Cleveland. As their tour manager said, “I thought they bulldozed that place!” No, they’re doing that with our beloved Roseland here in NYC. UGH! Looking forward to seeing Volbeat next month when they come to the area…..Friday, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden hits the hardDriveRadio studios. Looking forward to speaking with him about the 20th anniversary of Superunknown, the band’s breakout album. Have questions? Send them along to me via the interact link on the home page!….Today, Lou Brutus will be on the hotLine with Tyler Connolly of Theory Of A Deadman. Their new album, SaVages, is out Jul 8th. The guys are in Tampa, FL rehearsing as we speak….Pulse of Radio also reports on this! Rage Against The Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker are working with rap duo Run The Jewels on their new album, according to NME. Run The Jewels members Killer Mike and El-P have both posted photos online showing Barker and de la Rocha hanging out in the studio, where the duo are recording the follow-up to their self-titled 2013 debut. The latest image shows the duo posing alongside de la Rocha and Barker with El-P’s longtime friend Yak Ballz. El-P posted a separate picture of de la Rocha with the caption, “Yes it really is happening.” We asked Travis Barker, who has played on a number of hip-hop projects, where his love for the genre came from: “It came from fifth grade, listening to like Raising Hell, Run-DMC, like listening to Houdini, listening to Public Enemy, the Beastie Boys. You know, growing up, hip-hop, you know, was genuinely lead by a drum machine — that’s what took the place of a drummer. So to even be allowed or given the opportunity or blessed to work with all these people or do all this production or as much as I have in hip-hop, I feel very lucky.” El-P and de la Rocha were at one point going to collaborate on a project in the early 2000s, but it never came together. Barker, meanwhile, has been drumming with a number of rap artists, including LL Cool J, Chuck D, the Cool Kids and Yelawolf. De la Rocha has kept a fairly low profile since Rage Against The Machine’s last live show, which took place in 2011, while Barker recently did some work in the studio with a new group featuring members of Limp Bizkit and Nine Inch Nails. A new Blink 182 album is also reportedly coming out this year….This is cool. Blabbermouth reports Lzzy Hale will be featured on American violinist Lindsey Stirling‘s new album on a track called “Shatter Me.” Regarding how her collaboration with Lzzy came about, Lindsey said: “This song is very, very — obviously — different for a Lindsey Stirling track, because I’ve never written lyrics before, I’ve never gotten to blatantly say what I feel. I mean, all my songs have meaning behind them and I try to express that very strongly through the emotion that I want the song to feel for everyone. This time I got to literally say, ‘This is what I want to share.’ It was so important for me to find the right singer for it, becase I had in my mind the idea of who I wanted. I love vocalists like Hayley Williams from Paramore and Amy Lee from Evanescence, so I really wanted a powerhouse, rock-star female vocalist. I came across Lzzy Hale’s videos and Halestorm‘s stuff, and I was just blown away by the energy that Lzzy has on stage, on camera, in her tracks. I immediately got really excited and was just keeping my fingers crossed that she would have a window to come and do this with me. So I reached out to her management, and really quickly, they responded right back that Lzzy was really excited about the track.” She added: “I had actually never heard of Lzzy before, I’m ashamed to admit it. And it’s even funnier because she had never heard of me, and we both kind of became immediate fans of each other’s work.” Look for the cd April 29th.
