See Road Rage for the dates…..Pulse of Radio reports this! With Soundgarden and Pearl Jam both on the bill at Neil Young‘s annual all-acoustic Bridge School Benefit over the weekend, a reunion of the two bands’s one-off 1991 project Temple Of The Dog seemed almost inevitable. Well, that’s just what happened on Saturday night (October 25th) when Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell strolled onstage during Pearl Jam’s set for a performance of “Hunger Strike” from Temple’s single self-titled album. The performance at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA marked the first time Temple Of The Dog reunited since a show to celebrate the release of the film Pearl Jam Twenty in Sep 2011. Temple Of The Dog officially consisted of Cornell, Soundgarden/Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron, Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament, and Pearl Jam guitarists Mike McCready and Stone Gossard, with contributions from Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder. The project was launched as a tribute to late Mother Love Bone singer Andy Wood, who died in 1990. Ament and Gossard were members of Mother Love Bone, while Cornell and Wood were close friends. Meanwhile, Soundgarden has unexpectedly released a new song called “Storm,” which the band recorded in May with legendary Seattle producer Jack Endino. Although it’s not clear whether the new song is a preview of the next Soundgarden album, Cornell told us recently the band will make a follow-up to 2012’s King Animal: “We’re definitely gonna start writing new songs and I think we’ve all agreed on several occasions that we want to keep doing it. And I think it will be very similar to King Animal in that there’s no clock on it. And I also see us going out into some new Soundgarden frontier musically and see what it is, and hopefully we’ll be here in a year or two talking about what that is.”…..Footage of both complete Slipknot headlining performances at this past weekend’s Knotfest, which featured the live debut of the band’s new lineup, has been posted online. The band played very different set lists on Saturday night (Oct 25th) and Sunday night (Oct 26th), with only four songs showing up in both sets. I posted the set lists yesterday. Singer Corey Taylor told us the band might keep changing the set list on its North American tour, which starts tomorrow (Oct 29th): “The worst thing you want to do is get lethargic when it comes to the set, because if you’re bored with it, the audience is gonna be bored with it. For us, I think the plan is we’ll be able to have a whole wheelhouse of music that we can go to to make a different set every night, you know, and mix and match and put together a great set so when fans come to see two different shows or three different shows, they’re not gonna get the same set every night.”. Watch the Saturday performance here, and the Sunday performance here!….OK, so let’s give Aaron Lewis a break. He got a little tongue-tied on the lyrics to our national anthem during the game on Sunday. We can’t hate on him for that! Lewis issued an apology, saying, “All I can say is I’m sorry and ask for the nation’s forgiveness. My nerves got the best of me and I am completely torn up about what happened. America is the greatest country in the world. ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ means so much to so many, including myself. I hope everyone can understand the intensity of the situation and my true intent of this performance. I hope that the nation, Major League Baseball and the many fans of our national pastime can forgive me.” ….Marilyn Manson has leaked “Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge” online. The song will be included on Manson’s new studio album, which he recently completed for release in 2015. I’ve heard a couple of tunes from it so far, this being one. I think it is some of his best work in a while. The shock rocker’s most recent full-length CD, Born Villain, came out in May 2012. I heard from his new label the actual radio single isn’t coming til mid-Dec, so this is just to get our juices flowing for his new music. I like it and you may hear it soon on hardDriveRadio, so be listening! Funny story: I was set to get an interview with Manson when they performed at Ozzfest in 1997 at Giants Stadium. Got there for my 3:30 PM before-show interview time, and was told by his tour manager, it would have to wait til AFTER his set, which was a few hours later. OK. Hung out, watched some bands, saw his set. (I remember seeing Sharon Osbourne and the kids, Kelly, Jack who both had to be younger than 10 at the time. Aimee was the oldest, probably 11 or 12 then.) Anyhow, during Manson’s set he brought out a bottle of red wine, which he drank part of and poured part of on his body. Then he broke the bottle, and when he did, he cut his hand really badly. He did the rest of the set with a towel wrapped around his hand. Set was over, I followed them backstage and waited outside the dressing room. Twiggy Ramirez walked out of the room saying “Ew, you can see the bone!” I knew then, no interview was happening for me. Manson walked out, towel around hand, and into the MTV booth to talk to them and then was wisked away in a waiting car for the hospital to get stitches. I am STILL waiting for a make-good on that interview! LOL Hopefully, on this album cycle. His manager and I still laugh about it!….Van Halen & Tremonti bassist Wolfgang Van Halen has finished laying down bass tracks for 20 songs that are being considered for inclusion on the second album from Tremonti, the band led by Creed and Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti. A listening party for the album, which will follow up 2012’s All I Was, will be held on Jan 31st, 2015 in Orlando, FL….Happy Birthday today to Monster Magnet’s Dave Wyndorf-58.
