Walking DOWN hurts more. 🙁 Ortho doc today will give me the verdict: surgery or not….Nickelback, Avenged Sevenfold, Judas Priest and Shinedown will headline the 22nd annual Rock Fest, the massive Cadott, WI event that will take place between July 16th and 19th. Their May 12th show in Cleveland will be live-streamed online via Live Nation and Yahoo! for fans who won’t get to see the band on this round of shows. The trek also includes Seether’s third annual Rise Above Fest, which will take place in Bangor, Maine on May 9th and feature Godsmack, Papa Roach, Slash, All That Remains, Of Mice & Men and more. Seether frontman Shaun Morgan told us he’s looking forward to staging the event again this year: “We raised a good bunch of money last year, I think last year we raised about $66,000, and the year before that we only did $12,000, so we’re hoping to raise even more this year — maybe hit six figures and try and do a good thing. But I’m excited about it, obviously ’cause we’re doing a good thing and because it’s a good lineup and there’s a lot of bands that I’m a fan of, and I think again, it’s one of those things that, for the ticket price and for the cause, it’s absolutely worth people’s time, you know.” Morgan created the event in honor of his brother, who committed suicide seven years ago. All proceeds from the show will benefit S.A.V.E. (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education). Seether is still on the road in support of its sixth album, Isolate And Medicate, which arrived in July 2014. The latest single from the set is “Same Damn Life.” …. Meanwhile, Alice In Chains has made plans for a 19-date summer tour that will launch on July 17th at the Pala Casino Spa & Resort near San Diego, wrapping up in Bethlehem, PA on Aug 16th. Tickets for the tour will be available for purchase via a Ticketmaster pre-sale starting today (March 10th). The band will donate two dollars from every pre-sold ticket to a fundraiser in memory of a fan named Stefan Dayne-Ankle, who recently passed away after a battle with leukemia. The dates mark the first tour for the band since they hit the road back in 2013 and 2014 in support of their latest album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. The 2013 release debuted at Number Two on the Billboard album chart and featured the chart-topping singles “Stone” and “Hollow.” See Road Rage for those dates too! Hoping to get on the hotLine with them soon!….Today I will be speaking with Emily Armstrong from Dead Sara. Love that band and their debut album. Check out “Weatherman” and their new tune, “Mona Lisa.”….Pulse Of Radio reporting this morning Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and his business partner Bill Schneider are opening a guitar store called Broken Guitars at 423 40th Street in Oakland. The shop will open its doors to customers on April 3rd. The space itself was once home to 1-2-3-4 Go! Records, an independent label and record store that moved to a new location three years ago. Armstrong and Schneider, who are also bandmates in Pinhead Gunpowder, helped the owner of 1-2-3-4 Go! build a concert space at the label’s new home, where both Armstrong and his son Joey‘s band Emily’s Army have performed. The shop’s initial selection will feature approximately 75 guitars from both Armstrong and Schneider’s own collections, along with amplifiers and repair services for both instruments and amps. Schneider says the guitars will range between $400-$800, telling East Bay Express, “We want to be a shop for musicians. The focus is used American guitars: Gretsch, Fender and not necessarily just vintage ones.” Schneider also said that he hopes Broken Guitars will help with the rebirth and growth of this particular area of Oakland, explaining, “I lived around here for years in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Back then, there wasn’t a single store in any of these spots . . . 1-2-3-4 Go! Records, Manifesto and Subrosa really led the way for the street’s revitalization.” Green Day, along with Joan Jett, Lou Reed, Stevie Ray Vaughn and others, will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 18th in Cleveland…..Got this news yesterday from Hellyeah. The band will release a new single called “Hush” on March 13th (Friday) in conjunction with the arrival of NO MORE Week 2015 (March 8-14). Created by NO MORE (a unifying symbol and awareness movement focused on engaging bystanders to end domestic violence and sexual assault) along with its many partners, NO MORE Week is designed to spark conversations around issues of domestic violence and sexual assault and galvanize more communities, organizations and corporations to make them a priority year-round. Across the nation, advocates equipped with free education and awareness tools, will host more than 50 NO MORE Week events. They span a wide range of activities, including a cross-country skating event, fundraisers for local service providers, bystander education workshops, screenings of films that highlight these often hidden and stigmatized issues and the launch of state and local NO MORE campaigns. The song lyrics, written by vocalist Chad Gray, discuss his personal experience growing up in a home with domestic violence, and aim to shed light on a hidden subject while letting other survivors know that they are not alone. Join them at www.hellyeahband.com and show your support by requesting the song at your local active rock radio station. “Hush” is the third single taken from Hellyeah’s latest album, Blood For Blood. The previous ones were the title track and the Top 10 rock hit “Moth.” Hellyeah recently wrapped up a U.S. headlining tour that featured a national blood drive in cooperation with the Red Cross. The band will hit the road for a new round of dates starting on April 17th in Socorro, TX. Many of the shows will be with Godsmack. For more on the organization, visit www.nomore.org/nomoreweek2015….Muse has dropped another teaser for its upcoming seventh album, Drones, this time in the shape of a brief but heavy riff from a song called “Psycho.” The trio are apparently in the mixing stage of the album and working on a “very tight deadline” to get it finished and ready for release before the band hits the summer festival circuit. Bellamy hinted that the first single could arrive as early as next week. (Gigwise)… Happy 52 years on the planet to producer Rick Rubin and Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament. Happy 37th to Breaking Benjamin’s Ben Burnley! Look for new Breaking Benjamin music the week of March 23! 🙂
