Well, it’s good to see folks that can help, do help. The Pulse Of Radio reporting today Jack White‘s Third Man Records has begun collecting clean water for the residents of Flint, MI at its new retail location in Detroit’s Cass Corridor and has now announced that anyone who makes a financial donation will be eligible for a massive prize. Once all donations have been collected, one person will be randomly selected to become a Platinum Vault Subscriber for the next five years and receive 20 free Vault packages.
Platinum Vault subscribers receive four packages annually containing exclusive vinyl and merchandise, access to exclusive content and the Third Man novelties shop, live chats with Jack White, live-streaming of special events, and the opportunity to take advantage of ticket pre-sales. The total five-year value is estimated to be $1200.
Every $13 donated is equal to one entry to win, while $33 gets you three entries and $113 gets you 10. 100 percent of donated funds will benefit The United Way of Genesee County’s Flint Water Fund, which is dedicating to serving the immediate and long-term needs of the community. Monetary donations will first be used for the purchase of water filters, bottled water, emergency support services and prevention efforts in Flint, Michigan. After the short-term need of Flint residents has been met, any remaining funds will be directed to the Flint Child Health and Development Fund.
Jack white is a Michigan native and was born in Detroit, although he moved to Nashville many years ago and opened the first Third Man store there. You can donate at Third Man’s dedicated Crowdrise page and be automatically entered to win here.
Chino Moreno of the Deftones is at it again. Yesterday we saw he tweeted a picture of Martin Gore of Depeche Mode with the date 4/08/16. Now he’s got a picture from Nightmare On Elm Street with the words, obviously a song title?. “Prayers/Triangles.” Subtle hints? I think so! I’ve posted new tour dates, some which Stephen Carpenter alluded to in his interview with ESP Guitars in Anaheim at the NAMM show last week.
Steph also did an interview over at the Orange NAMM booth. According to Blabbermouth, when asked about his role during the songwriting process for forthcoming studio album, he said: “I spent a lot of my time on gear. As a participant in the songwriting, I was present and I did my stuff, but it’s not mostly my influence as far as what we’ve got going on the new stuff. I mean, I’ve definitely got my touch on it, but it’s not all about me. We’re a band, and right now, on this record, Sergio [Vega, bass] and Chino [Moreno, vocals] have done a lot of the work on this record. I just had to be some glue and hold ’em together.“
During a November 2015 interiew with BBC Radio 1‘s “Rock Show”, Chino talked about the “vibe” of Deftones‘ next CD: “I can’t really compare it to our last couple of records. I mean, those two records were done in a very similar manner where we locked ourselves in a room for a short period of time and wrote and recorded it. And therefore, I feel like we sort of really captured this moment in time, and the records sort of sound cohesive because of that. This record was done sort of over a year, spread out over these little, tiny writing sections. So it sounds a bit more fragmented, but in a good way. I mean, I feel like you put on one song and it’s completely different from the song after it, or previous to it. So it’s not like we had this one main idea and we went in and we sort of went with that vibe. I mean, the vibe’s sort of all over the place. So, like any Deftones record, I mean, it’s got dynamics and there’s loud aggressiveness and there’s mellowness to it, but it’s all sort of got an ebb and flow to it. I don’t know… It’d be hard for me to just put it in words exactly what it sounds like. It’s definitely a Deftones record. The way I look at it is it’s a gradual step from where we last were.”
They’re baaaack! Tweets from Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger and Ryan Peake informing fans the band are getting ready to hit the studio have surfaced. Chad said “Good news: we’re working on new music. Bad news for us: @kanyewest ‘Swish’ will be the best album of all time. #SWISH #Kanye” While Ryan told fans the band hopes to see them on the road later this year.
And finally today, Wolfmother are back with a new single and album, “Victorious.” The album will drop Feb 19th and tour kicks off Feb 24. Check out the new trippy video here.
