OK Alabama fans,  you won. What a joke LSU was last night.  Disgraceful, downright disgraceful!  Seemed like they never played the game before!  Seemed like they were on speed.  Seemed like they were just…. ARGH!  I burned my LSU tshirt, but I am not a sore loser!..…So shocked to hear this!  Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi was been diagnosed with early stages of lymphoma. Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphocytes, a type of cell that forms part of the immune system. According to a statement issued by his publicist, the 63-year-old metal legend is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan and remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery.  The news comes as the original Sabbath lineup — Iommi, singer Ozzy Osbourne, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward — are writing and recording their first album together in 33 years. The disc is set for release this fall and Sabbath is scheduled to embark on a world tour, although Iommi’s illness could affect those plans. (Thanks Pulse fo Radio.)  We wish Tony only the best!….Metallica’s Lars Ulrich told RollingStone the band is 7-8 songs into the making of their next album!   He described the material as a heavier version of the Black album.  Rick Rubin will produce and it will be out later this year….The 2012 Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival headliners have been announced!  The event will take place at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, CA over two weekends, April 13-15 and 20-22.  Black Keys will headline the 13th and 20th, Radiohead will headline  the 14th & 212st and Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg will be in the hidouse Apr 15th and 22nd.  I may need to make a special journey for that reunion!  Love me some Dr Drizzay and Snoop D Double OG!  (Snoop calls me OG Roxy)  Meanwhile. At the Drive In have reformed after 11 years and will also be on the bill.  I saw them open for Queens of the Stone Age  in Amsterdam. They reminded me of Rage Against the Machine a bit. Thought they rocked it!….Jane’s Addction is launching a "Theatre of the Escapists" tour Feb 22nd.  Cities are listed in Road Rage.  Their new single is called "Underground."…..Mike Patton, former Faith No More frontman, is scoring the new Ryan Gosling/Bradley Cooper/Eva Mendes film, "The Place Beyond the Pines."  The film was shot near my upstate hometown in Schenectady, NY.  (I once lived in the Stockade section of town in the first governor of NY’s mansion by the Mohawk River built in the 1700′s.  It was cool.  That was also the summer I took blotter acid every day one summer. Shocking I  still have any brain cells left!)  Anyhow, the movie will open later this year, and there is already a buzz on the flick! Meanwhile, Patton is also working on a new Tomahawk album….Interviewing England’s Starseed today in the hardDrive studios….Happy 34th today to Brent Smith of Shinedown and Matt Roberts of 3 Doors Down!
