Hi, We’re Highly Suspect!
Big day in the hardDriveRadio studios! Mastodon’s Troy Sanders and Bill Kelleher and Highly Suspect’s Rich Meyer drop by for interviews. Can’t wait to hear the new Mastodon music from Emperor of Sand. And the Highly Suspect guys once again are nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Song for “My Name Is Human.”
Yesterday, I got an email from Live Nation informing us of a new ticket package they are offering and discovered the summer tour with two of my favs: Korn and Stone Sour! The Pulse Of Radio also said the promotion is called “Ticket To Rock” and offers tickets for multiple shows from different artists to buyers at discounted prices.
Among the other tours with tickets being offered through the program are Avenged Sevenfold, Deftones and Rise Against (with Thrice), Sublime With Rome and The Offspring, and Incubus and Jimmy Eat World. Fans can buy a single ticket that gets them into either three or four different shows depending on the market. Sales begin today, Tuesday (Feb 7th).
Although he takes his three sons on the road as often as he can when they aren’t in school, Korn singer Jonathan Davis told us he doesn’t worry about it when he can’t: “I look at it this way: I spend more time with my kids when we’re home than most fathers do in their entire lifetimes. It’s just good quality time with your kids, so when we’re gone, yeah it sucks, but it’s not like back in the ’90s. I didn’t have Facetime, you didn’t have those abilities to actually see them, talk to them face to face. So they get the advantage of having real good quality time with us.”
The Korn / Stone Sour shows begin on June 22nd in Mountain View, CA, with the last one so far on Aug 1st in Cincinnati. The latest Korn studio album, The Serenity Of Suffering, came out in October and features a guest appearance from Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor. And Stone Sour is currently recording its sixth studio effort, titled Hydrograd, which is due out this summer.

A Perfect Circle, who will embark on their first tour in six years this April, have added an Apr 6 show at The Pearl in Las Vegas at The Palms Hotel to the band’s previously announced outing. Tickets for the April 6 show are on-sale this Friday, Feb 10 at 10 am Pacific.
Several shows have already sold out: Salt Lake City, Denver, Tulsa, Dallas and Houston. A handful of tickets for the Apr 7 and 8 dates in Las Vegas remain. Find all the dates in the Road Rage section of our website.
The band has begun work on their first new album since 2004’s eMOTIVe. Billy Howerdel told me in a recent interview that the band is recording this month and Maynard will be in LA to record vocals.
A Perfect Circle’s current line-up is Maynard James Keenan (Tool, Puscifer), Billy Howerdel (Ashes Divide), James Iha (Tinted Windows, ex-Smashing Pumpkins), Jeff Friedl (Puscifer, The Beta Machine) and Matt McJunkins (Eagles of Death Metal, The Beta Machine).
hardWired to self destruct indeed!
Blabbermouth is reporting Super Bowl LI halftime performer Lady Gaga will perform with Metallica at this year’s Grammy Awards. News about the collaboration was broken last night (Monday, Feb 6) via a TV commercial for the Grammys that aired on CBS.
“It has been my dream for so long to hear Gaga sing metal with a legendary band. I have never been so excited for a Gaga performance,” a fan on the Gaga Daily forums wrote in response to the news, while another added: “She is the only pop star who could duet with Metallica.”
It’s unclear which song Metallica will play at the event, which will air live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Febr 12 at 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
Metallica previously promised “something very unique and special” for its performance at this year’s Grammy Awards, where the band is up for a Grammy in the “Best Rock Song” category for the track “Hardwired,” from their latest album, Hardwired… To Self-Destruct.
Metallica‘s nomination for “Best Rock Song” was a surprise since the band is not included in the “Best Metal Performance” category.
Lady Gaga spoke about her love for Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath in various interviews over the years, calling the experience of seeing Maiden for the first time a “life-changing” event. The singer also appeared in photos with Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Alice Cooper and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante.
Meanwhile, Metallica will be announcing their North America tour next week, so rather than giving it away now, I’ll refrain and wait for their press release to issue the news!
And speaking of Gaga….
Do the creators of The Simpsons know something we don’t? Do they really have the ability to predict the future? Well, according to E!Online the answer is YES!
There is increasing evidence that someone in The Simpsons writers’ room is either a psychic or time traveler. Several people have made note of how the show, which has accurately predicted such events as Donald Trump’s presidential win and a 2016 Nobel Prize winner, foreshadowed Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl performance during a 2012 episode that featured the pop star. The episode in question was titled “Lisa Goes Gaga” and featured Gaga holding a show in Springfield in which she flew through the air on wires in an over-the-top outfit. While Gaga did not have a fireworks-shooting bra at the Super Bowl, most everything else is pretty close. You can check out a comparison Twitter side-by-side pic above.
Celebrating life today: my friend Sully Erna of Godsmack is 49! Wes Borland of Limp Bizkit is 42 and Chris Rock is 52.
