Waiting for iTunes to post our app. I think I have bitten off all my nails waiting for a week now! Come on, guys! Let it ROLL, will ya??!!!!!….I love Dave Grohl. He has no filter, kinda like me! This is from Pulse Of Radio: The Foo Fighters frontman blasted singing competition shows like American Idol and The Voice when he appeared at a press event for TV critics last week to promote his upcoming documentary series on HBO. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Grohl told journalists at the event, “I don’t want my kid to think that the only way you can be a musician is to stand in line at a song contest audition, and then wind up having a bazillionaire tell you you’re not a good singer. Don’t get me started. To me, that’s not what music’s about.” Grohl is not adverse to TV itself, having guest-hosted Chelsea Lately and done numerous musical performances over the years on late-night shows. Dave produced and directed the new series, Sonic Highways, which follows the Foo Fighters as they journey to eight states and eight studios during the sessions for their next album. The process of visiting historic studios had an impact on the music the Foos made for the record, with Grohl telling the Hollywood Reporter, “I couldn’t just write a three-and-a-half-minute long KROQ jingle and film it for the finale of an episode about the history of music in New Orleans, ya know? We really had to step up what we do.” Sonic Highways and the still-untitled Foo Fighters album will both arrive this fall….Linkin Park turntablist & video director Joseph Hahn‘s debut as a feature film director, a movie called Mall, will have its premiere screening at San Diego’s massive Comic-Con International next week. The film will be shown on Thursday, July 24th, as part of the fifth annual Nerd HQ festivities thrown during the con by Chuck star Zachary Levi‘s Nerd Machine company. The screening will take place at PetCo Park in downtown San Diego immediately after Linkin Park performs there at mtvU’s Fandom Awards. The film will be followed-up by a Q&A session featuring Hahn, the movie’s producers and cast members. Mall features Vincent D’Onofrio, who also wrote and produced the movie, Gina Gershon, Peter Stormare and others. The film focuses on a group of suburbanites whose lives are changed by a random shooting at the local mall. There’s no word yet on a theatrical release date for the film, although it is expected to come out this fall. Linkin Park will hit sheds and amphitheaters on the Carnivores Tour with 30 Seconds To Mars and AFI, beginning on August 8th in West Palm Beach, FL. Meanwhile, Chester Bennington is not just hanging around the house before the band heads off on tour. He’s been over at the DeLeo Brothers‘ home studios to work on new Stone Temple Pilots stuff. The band will perform in October at the Louder Than Lifefestival in Louisville, KY. I’ll be there! Will you????….This is funny. The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen recently revealed that ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons got very friendly with her when the two of them appeared together onstage at the 2014 Revolver Golden Gods Awards in May. Momsen and Gibbons showed up to perform with Joan Jett and Momsen recalled how the day went: “A little bit of a hectic chaos, but a good time nonetheless. Joan Jett’s the coolest chick ever so it was a blast playing with her, and we got a surprise guest with Billy Gibbons and he touched my butt. He was just lookin’ for some tush.”…. AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd will release his first solo album, titled Head Job, on August 29th. Rudd told an Australian radio station about the disc, “I hope everyone thinks this is a great album from start to finish because that’s the idea. There’s plenty of Phil on there, but no filler.” Asked about AC/DC’s own recently completed new album, Rudd replied, ““I’m very happy to have it all done. It’s all very good, by the way. There’s no comparisons between the two but they’re both very good.” (Ultimate Classic Rock)…Rob Zombie has posted a new piece of production art online from 31, the original horror movie he’s getting ready to direct this fall. Zombie said about the image of three skeletal figures standing next to a van, “Lots of news on my next film 31 will be coming your way very soon. But until then I thought I share with your one many awesome production drawings from the film courtesy of Alex Horley.” In other news, Zombie and Walking Dead comic artist Tony Moore have created an animated short inspired by the upcoming video game Assassin’s Creed Unity.
