Ya know, when NYC does the tree lighting in Rockefeller Plaza, it is such a painin the arse for us New Yorkers. Sure, it’s nice and all. But what it does to our city: Total gridlock, shutting down of streets around the area, shutting down of subways, it is ridiculous! And our company holiday party was last night and when it let out just after the tree was lighted, all chaos was ensuing! Nuts! Makes a girl grumpy!….Sounds to me like this lad needs some SERIOUS help! Pulse Of Radio reports AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was taken to a police station in Tauranga, New Zealand in handcuffs after an incident on this morning (Dec 4th). According to SunLive, witnesses at a local coffee shop saw Rudd get into a dispute with “a huge guy” who was apparently the drummer’s former security guard. The man reportedly told Rudd, “I don’t work for you anymore,” and pushed the drummer in the chest, forcing him to fall backwards. Witnesses stated that Rudd then “went nuts.” Another eyewitness told the New Zealand Herald, “He was out and bloody dancing around and carrying on and . . . led back to the cop car and was driven away.” Rudd was taken into court, where his lawyer acknowledged that Rudd breached his bail agreement by having contact with a potential witness in his upcoming trial. The judge set a new bail, adding a new condition in which Rudd is not allowed to consume illegal drugs. Rudd’s lawyer said of the Thursday morning incident, “It was a meeting with somebody he wasn’t meant to associate with in a shop. It was a chance meeting and then there was contact from that.” Rudd was arrested in early November and was recently in court on charges of allegedly “threatening to kill” another man and for alleged possession of meth and cannabis. He is due back in court on Feb 10th to face those charges and will likely face a “judge-only” trial early next year. Rudd had also been charged with hiring a hitman to commit a murder, but that charge was quickly dropped. Still nothing official from the AC/DC camp as to whether or not Phil will be invited to tour with the rest of the band later next year. Such a shame, this. Hoping someone in Phil’s family can get him to rehab. There is something not right with this guy and has been going on for far too long. And the guy is a talented drummer. What a waste!….This is also from Pulse: If you’re eager to hear that covers album Stone Sour has been working on, don’t get too excited just yet. Singer Corey Taylor said in a new interview with Team Rock that the disc, titled Meanwhile In Burbank, wont be out until “late, late next year,” adding, “We’re just kind of putting stuff together on our downtime and just kind of doing it piece by piece and trying to have fun with it. But yeah . . . it’s kind of way on the backburner. But it’s cool, because that means that we can kind of take our time and have fun with it.” Taylor also spoke about Stone Sour’s decision to part ways with guitarist Jim Root at the end of last year and how it affected Taylor and Root’s working relationship in Slipknot, explaining, “It was awkward at first. But the more we’ve talked and we’ve hung out and the more we’ve seen the success of the (Slipknot) album kind of burgeon, that takes a lot of the pressure off.” Taylor continued, “I think it’s kind of helped him see that it was the right decision. He just seems happier in Slipknot. And that was one of the reasons why we kind of had to go our separate ways, because at the end of the day, with all due respect to Jim, I just want him to be happy, and for the longest time it just seemed like he wasn’t happy.”….This also from Pulse: Fans may be surprised to see one name missing off the credits of the authorized Kurt Cobain documentary that’s coming next year: the late Nirvana frontman’s widow, Courtney Love. According to the Hollywood Reporter, it was Love who initially approached filmmaker Brett Morgen in 2007 about making the project, which is called Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck, and offered him access to Cobain’s private archives. Morgen said that Love “gave me the keys to this kingdom and final cut of the film,” but that he soon began collaborating directly with Cobain and Love’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, who also inherited a vast amount of the musician’s material. Morgen explained, “At a certain point, I started working more closely with (Frances). We (all) agreed that because Courtney was a subject in the film, it would be best if she wasn’t given editorial control.” Frances is now credited as an executive producer on the film and recently tweeted, “I’m really excited for you guys to see Montage of Heck. @brettmorgen created an intense yet wonderful examination of Kurt’s life & art.” Morgen also worked with Kurt’s mother, Wendy Cobain, and his record label, Geffen Records, to secure rights to his music and personal materials for the film. As for Love, Morgen said, “She hasn’t seen the movie. I’m not sure she’s intending to.” But he added, “Courtney brought me into the world, and the film would not exist if she hadn’t reached out to me.” Montage Of Heck will debut in January at the Sundance Film Festival, followed by a premiere on HBO and possibly even a theatrical release….30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto has signed on to play the Joker in the upcoming movie Suicide Squad. The film, based on the DC Comics title, is about a collection of villains who are forced to become heroes. Also starring in the movie are Will Smith as Deadshot, Tom Hardy as team leader Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Cara Delevinge as Enchantress. This will be Leto’s first film since he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor earlier this year for his role in Dallas Buyers Club….These two items are from Blabbermouth: Soundgarden is the subject of a new documentary from the same team that has produced recent films on Rush, Alice Cooper and the history of heavy metal. The film will cover the band’s entire career, from their early days on the Seattle club scene through their breakup in the late ’90s and their reunion in 2010. The filmmakers are also asking fans to contribute personal photographs, bootleg video and audio, concert posters and other slices of Soundgarden history. If you want a chance for your memento to become part of the film, send a description of it to info@bangerfilms.com with the subject “Soundgarden Fan Submission.”….Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose is not dead. An article designed to look like an MSNBC report surfaced on the Internet on Wednesday (December 3rd) with a headline reading, “Sources: Guns N’ Roses Frontman Axl Rose Found Dead in West Hollywood Home at Age 52.” The false report suggested the singer was found dead in his West Hollywood home, even using a fabricated quote from a non-existent police spokesperson. The same web site pulled a similar trick in November with a death hoax about actor Macaulay Culkin…..The Deftones are anxious to get their new music out! According to a spokesperson from the label, the band has finished yet another killer record and is hoping to have the first single released next month! I hope so too! No info on the record just yet, so stay tuned…..Blabbermouth also reports 10 Years have announced the name of their next album to be From Birth to Burial. It’s planned for release in the spring and the band is heading out on a tour sponsored by Revolver in February with Otherwise, The Glorious Sons and Luminoth. See Road Rage….Happy 45th to Jay Z. Happy 48th to Fred Armisen.
