I’m bad in the steamy climes of Florida, thankful we had no damage! And thankful for my awesome neighbors who removed my hurricane shutters for us before we pulled into the driveway!
This just in via a press release. Linkin Park have announced a special show in honor of their bandmate and friend, Chester Bennington. The one-night-only celebration will take place in Los Angeles, at the legendary Hollywood Bowl on Friday, Oct 27, 2017.
The singular event marks the first time the five members will be performing on stage together since Chester passed on Jul 20th. The band will be joined by a number of other artists, for an unforgettable night of music to honor the man who touched the lives of so many around the world.
The individual band members intend to contribute their fees from the event to Music For Relief’s One More Light Fund in memory of Chester.
Pre-sale for tickets begins Tuesday, Sep 19, and general on-sale Friday, Sep 22. For more information, visit https://linkinpark.com.
The official video for the album title track, “One More Light” premiered this morning on the band’s social pages. Initially, the song had not been scheduled as a single, but the strong connection with fans in the weeks following Bennington’s passing brought the track to the forefront.
Directed by Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn, and longtime band videographer, Mark Fiore, the video not only reflects on the memory of Chester, but also the comradery of the band, the people they work with, and the community that has given them strength.
“It has been incredibly emotional to work on this, and especially to watch it,” says Joe Hahn. “I feel that by doing it, we not only faced some of our biggest fears, but it enabled us to use our talents to bring some light to people who need it. As we move forward to the Hollywood Bowl show and beyond, I think about the people who connect with the band, outside and inside our circle. This video is a gesture of good will to the people who want that connection.”
“’One More Light’ was written with the intention of sending love to those who lost someone. We now find ourselves on the receiving end,” says Mike Shinoda. “In memorial events, art, videos, and images, fans all over the world have gravitated towards this song as their declaration of love and support for the band and the memory of our dear friend, Chester. We are so very grateful and can’t wait to see you again.”
Foo Fighters have released an animated mini-documentary on the making of their new album Concrete And Gold, which arrived on Friday (Sep 15th). In the short film, frontman Dave Grohl talks about how the band selected the producer it wanted to work with, Greg Kurstin, and how it landed a guest appearance from Justin Timberlake among others.
Grohl recalls meeting Kurstin at a restaurant after hearing a song by his band The Bird And The Bee on the radio in his car. As the two become friends, Grohl decides he wants Kurstin to record the next Foo Fighters album. Kurstin has previously produced artists like Adele and Pink. Grohl also recounts how he floated the idea of working with Kurstin to the rest of the band, who were puzzled because Kurstin had never worked on a heavy rock record.
In addition to Timberlake, the disc features guest appearances from Paul McCartney, The Bird And The Bee’s Inara George, the Kills’ Alison Mosshart and Boyz II Men singer Shawn Stockman.
Foo Fighters have lined up a fall North American tour that kicks off on Oct 7th in San Bernardino, CA with Cal Jam 17, featuring the Foos, Queens Of The Stone Age, Cage The Elephant, Liam Gallagher, Royal Blood, The Struts and more. The rest of the tour begins on Oct12th in Washington D.C.
And then there is THIS!!!!.…

Ghost founder Tobias Forge — who sings lead vocals as Papa Emeritus — says he has been working on the group’s fourth studio album for an early 2018 release. Appearing at Germany’s Metal Hammer Awards disguised as one of the band’s Nameless Ghouls, Forge said, “We’ve been in the studio for about a month now. And by the end of the year, if everything goes according to plan . . . we’re gonna have a new album, not out, but we’re gonna have a new recorded and mixed and delivered. And hopefully that means that we’re gonna have a new album out by April — possibly, hopefully.”
Forge recently hinted at the lyrical themes of the next LP, saying, “Having in mind that the previous record was about the absence of God or the absence of deities, this new one is going to be about the return of God,” adding it will be “darker, a little bit more apocalyptic, I think.”
After several years of not revealing his or the rest of the band’s identities, Forge recently confirmed his own while responding to a lawsuit filed by four former members of Ghost, who accused him of cheating them out of their rightful share of the group’s profits. Forge hired an all-new lineup of the group for touring purposes in the first half of 2017, with the musicians again all anonymously performing as Nameless Ghouls.
The new disc will follow up 2015’s Meliora, which featured the Grammy-winning hit “Cirice,” and last year’s Popestar EP, which included the chart-topping “Square Hammer.”
The Pulse Of Radio reporting Ozzy Osbourne said in a new interview with Rolling Stone he has no intention of quitting rock ‘n’ roll anytime soon. The 68-year-old Black Sabbath singer said, “People around my age go, ‘I’m 65 now. I’m retired.’ Then they f**king die. My father got a bit of cash from the job he had, did the garden and died. And I’m going, ‘That’s a bit of an anticlimax after working so many years in a factory.’ I ain’t retiring. People still want to see me, so what’s there to retire from?”
Ozzy told us a while back he’ll know when it’s time to quit: “I’ve always said that if the audience diminishes down to one cow and three drunks in a field, I think that I’d be pretty dumb to not go, ‘You know what, maybe I should just call it quits, you know.’”
Ozzy is continuing his solo career even though Black Sabbath said farewell earlier this year. He remarked, “People forget, I was with Sabbath from ’68 to ’79, but I’ve been on my own from ’79 ’til now. I’ve been on my own thing for a lot longer than when I was with Sabbath. I love what Sabbath did for me and I love what I did for Sabbath, but it’s not the be-all, end-all of my own whole career.”
The singer believes that rock itself isn’t dead but the music industry is failing, saying, “There are only about two f**king record companies left. And when I went to the Grammys a couple of years ago, there’d be artists who’d go from a f**king laptop straight to the charts and release a record. It’s really a sad thing for me. It’s just changed so much.”
Ozzy has not yet made it official whether he intends to record another solo album. His last one, Scream, came out in 2010. Ozzy has three live solo dates coming up: the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, KY on Sep 30th, the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA on October 22nd, and the second Ozzfest Meets Knotfest in San Bernardino, CA on Nov 4th.
News in brief:
Pearl Jam‘s Eddie Vedder joined a pair of street musicians for an impromptu jam outside Chicago’s Wrigley Field following the Cubs’ Friday night (Sep 15th) game. Vedder came upon the buskers while exiting the game and borrowed the guitarist’s axe to perform instrumental versions of Pearl Jam’s “Corduroy” and the Who‘s “The Seeker.” Vedder returned to sit behind the drumkit for the duo as well. The Pearl Jam concert film shot at the famous ball field, Let’s Play Two, comes out later this month. (Rolling Stone)
Marilyn Manson has released the definitely Not Safe For Work (NSFW) video for his new song, “We Know Where You F**king Live.” The gruesome, disturbing clip features Manson accompanied by gun-wielding nuns as they rampage through suburbia, torch a van and break into the home of an unsuspecting family to torment them. The song is taken from Manson’s new album, Heaven Upside Down, which will be released on October 6th. (Exclaim!)
Evanescence has released a new single called “Imperfection,” one of two new tracks featured on the band’s upcoming album Synthesis, due out November 10th. The tune features full orchestration by arranger and composer David Campbell, who also helped the band create electronic/orchestral versions of many of its most popular songs for the album. Evanescence will head out on tour with a full orchestra behind them to support the LP, starting on October 14th in Las Vegas. (Blabbermouth)
