Let’s start the week off with news about our friends Slipknot from Pulse of Radio. We know the band has revealed its new masks and its new members — at least what they look like — in the video for “The Devil In I,” the first single from the band’s upcoming album .5: The Gray Chapter. The clip, directed by percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan, shows off the new headgear worn by the seven original members, while giving us brief glimpses of the band’s new drummer and bassist, who are both wearing the same mask. Singer Corey Taylor told hardDriveRadio in our phoner last week Slipknot wants to honor its past while also moving forward: “It’s respect, but at the same time it’s about healing the wounds, you know, and starting to take those steps forward, and it’s about time for that.” The band has not revealed the identity of either new member, but now new evidence has surfaced online the man playing bass is Alessandro “Vman” Venturella. Venturella has served as a guitar tech for Mastodon, Coheed And Cambria and others, while also playing in the band Krokodil. A side-by-side comparison of Venturella’s distinctive hand tattoo and that from the person playing bass in the “The Devil In I” video reveals that they appear to be the same. Slipknot’s new drummer is widely believed to be Jay Weinberg, son of longtime Bruce Springsteen drummer Max Weinberg. .5: The Gray Chapter, Slipknot’s fifth studio album, arrives on October 21st and is the band’s first without Gray, who passed away in 2010, and drummer Joey Jordison, who was dismissed last year. The band will stage a three-day Knotfest event in San Bernardino, CA Oct 24-26 before kicking off its “Prepare For Hell” tour on October 29th in El Paso, TX. Take a look here. Interesting….Foo Fighters have been playing a string of club shows in England over the past few days but frontman Dave Grohl has hinted that something much bigger could be afoot for the band. According to NME, Grohl told the crowd at a club in Brighton last Wednesday (September 10th), “I thought we’d try to play gigs like this pretty much every night until we have to go home. It gives us a chance to see your faces before we play that week at Wembley Stadium.” A week-long residency at Wembley Stadium would be historic for any band, let alone an American one. The last rock group to do even two nights at the massive venue was Britain’s own Muse. There are no further details or even confirmation of the shows, but Foo Fighters fans from all over the world might come to the U.K. for those. The band played two more tiny club gigs in the U.K. before a headlining spot at the Invictus Games on yesterday (Sep 14th). Now if we could only get some info on what the new radio single would be and when it’s coming, THAT would be cool.. Godsmack have posted a couple of new webisodes with their Uproar Tour antics! Watch ’em here and here…..Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are confirmed to perform at the 28th annual Bridge School Benefit, which will take place on Oct 25th & 26th at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA. This will be Soundgarden’s debut appearance at the event, while Pearl Jam will be returning for the first time since 2006. The two Seattle bands join a lineup that includes the music festival’s founders, Neil and Pegi Young, as well as Florence And The Machine, Band Of Horses and Tom Jones. All money raised from the event goes to the Bridge School, which focuses on the education of children with severe speech and physical impairments. This year’s benefit will be the first concert both Neil and Pegi Young play since news broke last month Neil had filed for divorce after 37 years of marriage. Neil is reportedly seeing actress Darryl Hannah. Pegi will perform with her band The Survivors. Tickets go on sale Friday….Incubus is finally getting to work on the band’s first album since 2011’s If Not Now When? Singer Brandon Boyd posted some photos of his bandmates in the studio on Instagram, along with the caption, “Incubus is carving away at a new record!” Guitarist Mike Einziger told the LA Music Blog, “I would imagine we’ll have something come out in February before the first tour starts early next year. Right now, we have about six songs in various stages of completion . . . Brandon’s been out of town, so we’ve been sending him music and he’s been writing lyrics while traveling.”….A new Black Veil Brides tune called “Faithless” has been posted. The band’s new self-titled 4th album arrives Oct 28th. Find the band on tour beginning Oct 21 in Niagara Falls (slowly I turned), NY on Oct 21…. Blabbermouth reports Rob Zombie says his nearly completed new studio album is the strongest effort of his career so far, but has yet to announce a release date for the follow-up to last year’s Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor. Zombie, who started putting together his sixth solo CD with his band in January, told the San Jose Mercury News, “I really think this is the best record yet, truthfully. I don’t know if everybody says that — maybe they do. But I really feel that way. I’m not sure when we’ll put it out — probably beginning of next year, maybe — but it’s pretty much done.” He also revealed his live appearances in September and October will mark his “last tour for a while, actually. Because when this tour is done, I’m starting on a movie.” Adding, “It will be an awesome tour. The tours we have done in the last few years have been our best tours ever.” Last month, Rob launched a campaign to crowdfund his new movie, titled “31”. The film follows five people who are kidnapped in the five days leading up to Halloween and how they must fight to survive in a place called Murder World. In order to stay alive, the hostages must play a game called “31”, in which the goal is kill as many opponents as possible — people in clown masks called “The Heads” — in 12 hours. “Right now I’m in the process of wrapping up the [funding] campaign that we started for the film,” Zombie told the San Jose Mercury News. “Hopefully, we’ll start shooting in February. That’s the goal.”….Lou Brutus was at the sold-out Sonic Boom sponsored by 94.1 JJO in Janesville, WI over the weekend, where he interviewed All That Remains.
