Dear Wes Scantlin of Puddle Of Mudd, Please pull yourself together. Signed, hardDriveRadio. I mean, check this out. The Puddle Of Mudd frontman was arrested (again) on Friday (January 16th) at Denver International Airport after he took what Loudwire described as a “joyride” on an airport baggage carousel. Scantlin ended up in the airport’s restricted area before being taken into custody by local police. The news was reported by the promoter in Denver who had booked Puddle Of Mudd for a show there and worked to get Scantlin released in time for the gig. A local fan eventually helped bail Scantlin out (good luck getting paid back) , although the show ran late and many fans left as a result. The promoters posted a message saying, “I apologize to all of those who left early . . . Those of you that stayed, I hope you love Puddle of Mudd cause we will NEVER book them again.” 2014 was a relatively quiet year for Scantlin after several years in which the singer and guitarist seemed to be on an unstoppable downward spiral. He did make news in April 2014 when he melted down onstage, threw a beer and microphone into the audience, and threatened several attendees with violence. Scantlin was last arrested on July 24th, 2013 for allegedly vandalizing a neighbor’s property with a buzz saw and a sledgehammer. Scantlin’s house was foreclosed on by the bank last month after he fell behind in payments. In May of that year, he was arrested twice within the space of a week — first on warrants stemming from his 2012 cocaine possession case, then on charges of domestic violence when he became physically abusive with his ex-wife Jessica outside a West Hollywood business. Scantlin also had problems with back tax payments and an altercation on an airplane in addition to 2012’s ugly divorce battle with Jessica. Puddle Of Mudd did continue to tour in 2014 with Scantlin leading an all-new lineup. A single was released last September called “Piece Of The Action.” (Geez, really? I don’t remember getting that.) All I can say is many friends and family members have tried to get through to the guy he needs help. But he’s refused any and all interventions. What are ya gonna do? I will hate to see his name in the obits one day, that’s all I’m sayin’….For those of you who watched the football games yesterday, I gotta say, I’ve never seen two dramatically different games. The first one was UNREAL in Seattle. Sorry to all the Green Bay Packers fans. Seattle pulled off the impossible. Even a few thousand 12th Man fans walked out during the last 5 mins of the game thinking all hope was lost. Congrats to Russell Wilson and the team. Meanwhile, for those of us who were irritated that Fox Sports didn’t even MENTION hometown heroes Alice In Chains were performing at halftime, but here is footage from a fan of the band performing “Man In The Box” & “Would?”. Shame on you Fox Sports! (And that other game in Foxboro, come on. At what point do you turn it off? I think I went back to writing another hardDrive script around the 3rd quarter. Ya just feel bad when the team can’t get anything going. So rematch, New England Patriots–Seattle Seahawks. Dan Donegan of Disturbed will be there. He’s already got his tickets and travel booked. Lucky!….I really like Dead Sara. I thought their debut album was pretty killer and play it alot. They just dropped a new video for the song “Mona Lisa.” Check it out…..Pulse of Radio reports Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and others performed at a musical benefit and live auction last Monday (Jan 12th) for Adopt The Arts, a Los Angeles-based charity that preserves and creates arts programs in U.S. public schools. According to Blabbermouth, the event at legendary Hollywood club The Roxy raised more than $106,000 to fund music programs in L.A. elementary schools. The benefit, which also served to honor ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons and Allman Brothers Band member Butch Trucks, also featured appearances from ex-Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, Toto guitarist Steve Lukather, Edgar Winter, Cult axeman Billy Duffy and more. Adopt The Arts was founded by Matt Sorum, former Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver drummer. The musicians played two sets, one of ZZ Top classics and the other of Allman Brothers Band favorites. Attendees also enjoyed a live and silent auction featuring generous donations and vacation packages from Adopt The Arts supporters…..LIke to end today with this! We asked Steven Tyler how a band like Aerosmith — which has lasted 40 years in the spotlight — can hope to revitalize itself every time out: “Maybe in the new songs. In writing new songs, you always come up with a new you. I think you should. You can always do another ‘Dude Looks Like A Lady,’ another ‘Dream On’ — we always tap into something new.” Joe Perry admitted to us that no matter what goes down with Aerosmith, there’s a bond between him and Steven Tyler that is almost unbreakable: “We’ve been together for so long that in my heart, it’s never more than six inches away from Steven’s, ever. Even though we may not talk for a short amount of time or a long amount of time, we’ve been partners, friends for so long, I always have a feeling deep inside that we’re always gonna be together. And that’s what makes Aerosmith as strong as it is.” Check out this footage from 1990 at the Monsters of Rock show at Donnington with Jimmy Page!
