It’s Good Friday. And I’m already out of town. Good Friday! 😉 Seriously though, hope you and your family have a great Easter weekend!
I love Disturbed’s David Draiman. I do! He doesn’t care what’s going on, he will call it like he sees it. Check this out from their show in Dallas, TX on Wednesday night. I mean, have you ever been to a show, or especially the movies, when someone near you is on their phone incessantly? It IS annoying! I’m glad he called her out. Disturbed will drop by the hardDriveRadio studios Apr 4th when they are in town.
The Pulse Of Radio reporting Rob Zombie film fans will be happy to know the horror film director has struck a deal for Saban Films to distribute his new horror film, 31, in North America. The company will release the movie on September 16th, 2016, after it premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival. 31 follows five carnival workers who are kidnapped and held hostage in an abandoned, hellish compound where they are forced to participate in a violent game, the goal of which is to survive twelve hours against a gang of sadistic clowns.
Zombie told us a bit more about where and when the movie was shot, along with the cast: “We shot it last April, I think, and we shot the whole thing in California, in different locations in California — which originally we were gonna shoot it in Louisiana, of course, like everybody does, but I pushed it to California. And who’s in it…a lot of people are in it. A lot of people that have been in a bunch of my movies in the past. Some new people. It’s quite a bizarro cast.”
The cast includes his wife Sheri Moon Zombie, Malcolm McDowell, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Meg Foster, Judy Geeson, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs and more. Zombie said in a statement, “After meeting with Saban, it was obvious that this was the perfect home for 31. They have a true understanding of the genre and how to handle it. I am very excited to work with them.” Saban president Bill Bromiley said that 31 is “executed in true stylistic Zombie fashion. Rob is an unrivaled talent, and we are thrilled to bring his bold new film to audiences across the continent.”
Zombie’s sixth solo studio album, The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser, arrives on Apr 29th. He will begin a co-headlining tour with Disturbed on May 3rd in Biloxi, MI, with a couple of festival dates slotted in beforehand.
Whoa! A representative for AC/DC has responded to rumors suggesting Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose will join the group as a guest singer, and the response was, shall we say, interesting. The rep neither denied nor confirmed the story, instead telling NME that there was “nothing official to announce” at this time, adding, “Will update you if that changes.”
The rumors about Rose performing as a guest singer with AC/DC started circulating earlier this week and gained traction when Atlanta Radio 100.5 host Jason Bailey claimed a “very, very good source” confirmed to him that the collaboration was happening.
The rumor began after AC/DC postponed the last 10 shows of its recent North American tour because singer Brian Johnson was in danger of suffering “total hearing loss.” The band promised to make up the gigs, possibly with “guest vocalists.” Bailey reported, “This is what I’m being told: Axl was meeting with the AC/DC group, because it’s all but a done deal that Axl will front AC/DC for the 10 remaining shows.” He added that AC/DC was in Atlanta to audition frontmen and flew Rose in.
Rose has been spotted and photographed in Atlanta, where AC/DC is reportedly meeting with potential singers. Rose is already reuniting with original Guns members Slash and Duff McKagan at six shows next month in California, Las Vegas and Mexico.
SIDE NOTES: Founding AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young’s son, and Angus Young’s nephew, Ross Malcolm Young told a fan on Facebook, “It’s true,” after linking to an article about Axl Rose singing with the group. Ross later deleted his remarks. Meanwhile, bassist Cliff Williams’ daughter Erin Lucas told a fan on Instagram that he was a “smart cookie” after the fan expressed hope that Brian Johnson would return to the lineup. Our friends Black Stone Cherry have posted lyric video for “Soul Machine.” Check it out here. It’s a track from their new album, Kentucky, that arrives next Friday, Apr 01.
