The Pulse Of Radio reporting on a story in Rolling Stone with Dave Grohl! He told the magazine that he cut a planned one-year hiatus in half to begin writing Foo Fighters‘ upcoming ninth album, Concrete And Gold. Grohl said that six months into his self-imposed break, he began writing the LP at an AirBnB he rented in Ojai, CA, just north of Los Angeles. He recalled, “I brought a case of wine and sat there in my underwear with a microphone for about five days, just writing . . . it happened at the perfect time. I was inspired by what was going on with our country — politically, personally, as a father, an American and a musician. There was a lot to write about.”
Grohl also confirmed that neither Taylor Swift nor Adele appear on the album as rumored. Grohl himself has hinted at a cameo by the “biggest pop star in the world,” whom he still declines to identify. Guests on the record include The Bird And The Bee’s Inara George, the Dead Weather‘s Allison Mosshart, saxophonist Dave Koz and singer Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men fame.
Concrete And Gold will arrive on Sep 15th. The first single, “Run,” currently tops the rock radio chart.
Ok, it must be the sign of the apocalypse in a GOOD WAY! SLAYER was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night! “Raining Blood” indeed! Slayer tours currently with Lamb Of God.
The family of Chester Bennington reportedly intends to keep the vocalist’s funeral a small affair for family and friends, according to TMZ. Sources close to the late artist said the family wants to keep the memorial intimate and private, although they are trying to figure out the best way to let fans pay tribute to the fallen musician as well.
As for where he’ll be buried, TMZ has been told the family’s not jumping at an offer to take the plot next to Soundgarden‘s Chris Cornell at Hollywood Forever Cemetery because it’s in such a public space.

The band also has a European trek on tap for later in the year, but bassist Rich Meyer told us the band’s home country is still its favorite place to tour: “I mean, I love playing in Europe, Europe is awesome, and I love traveling and seeing new places and all that stuff. But I really love playing in the States because we have a lot of fans, and I love my fans and I like going out to see ’em. So that’s my favorite part about touring in the States, is all the fans.”
Not really sure how I feel about holograms on tour, but maybe. Seems Ronnie James Dio‘s hologram is going out on a world tour.
Rolling Stone reports the tour has been named Dio Returns, and the image of the metal singer, who died in 2010, will perform with musicians from the Dio tribute band Dio Disciples.
The tour will use audio from some of Dio’s live performances, and the hologram will supposedly take you back to the singer’s Sacred Heart and Dream Evil tours. Dio’s widow, Wendy Dio, is involved with the project and said, “Ronnie was always wanting to experiment with new stage ideas and was a big Disney fan. With this said, I am sure he is giving us his blessing with this hologram project. ”
The European leg of the tour starts in Helsinki on Nov 30, and will make it to the U.S. by the spring of 2018. Would you buy a ticket to see a tour like this? Just wondering…..
Happy 41st today to Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach!
