Filter has released a brand new song called “Mother E” from the band’s seventh studio album, Crazy Eyes. The album drops on April 8th via Wind-Up Records. The follow-up to 2013’s The Sun Comes Out Tonight includes the first single, “Take Me To Heaven,” which is also streaming online. A tour with Orgy, Vampires Everywhere and Death Valley High kicks off Apr 13 and can be found on the Road Rage page!
Regarding the overall musical direction of the album, frontman Richard Patrick said, “Filter is the mind. It’s your interpretation or my interpretation. Our thing is to look at people’s unexplainable behavior and assess it, using sound. It’s a way to approximate the insanity of the human condition. The reason this record is so fucking heavy and strange is it’s exactly the opposite of what’s popular. It’s not pretty. It’s not cute. It’s real.”
Patrick prodused himself, in collaboration with producer Ben Grosse (Thirty Seconds to Mars, Marilyn Manson) and Michael “Blumpy” Tuller (Nine Inch Nails), new bandmates Oumi Kapila (guitar, programming), Ashley Dzerigian (bass), Chris Reeve (drums) and Bobby Miller (keyboards). Former Filter/Nine Inch Nails bandmates Johnny Radke and Danny Lohner are also lending a hand. Long-time Filter fans will be excited to know the record harkens back to Filter’s roots in a harder industrial sound!
UH OH! I hope he’s not talking about me! Blabbermouth reporting after his original comments were picked up by various web sites, including this one, Corey Taylor took to his Twitter account to explain what he meant. He said: “I’M NOT QUITTING SLIPKNOT. Listen to/read interviews IN CONTEXT not out. I talk about time off. This is why I dislike ‘cut n paste’ journos.” (see Dirt from yesterday!)
During the “Someone Who Isn’t Me” podcast, Taylor also discussed how the band might progress musically in the coming years, saying, “At some point, we’ll have to evolve again. ‘Cause we’ve evolved with every album… I think, in the future, we’ll make it less about the angst and the insanity and more about the creativity.”
Slipknot has hinted its next studio effort could be a double concept album. The group’s last set, .5: The Gray Chapter, came out in late 2014 and was the band’s first effort in six years, following the 2010 death of bassist Paul Gray and the 2013 dismissal of drummer Joey Jordison.
Taylor’s main focus in 2017 will be Stone Sour, which has fourteen new songs written and recorded in demo form for the follow-up to the band’s 2012/2013 double concept album, House Of Gold And Bones.
ANDY BIERSACK and BEN BRUCE TO HIT THE SILVER SCREEN!
Why didn’t we know this when we did our interview on Tuesday! Dang! American Satan, the new film project from Sumerian Records and Sumerian Films founder Ash Avildsen, will star Black Veil Brides frontman Andy Biersack and Asking Alexandria’s guitarist Ben Bruce.
Avildsen previously directed, co-wrote and starred in the 2015 comedy What Now, which also featured numerous musicians and wrestlers. Avildsen will direct and co-write again, alongside producer Matty Beckerman, The PRP reports.
A synopsis of the plot has been released: “A young rock band, half from England and half from the US, drop out of college and move to the Sunset Strip to chase their dreams. Living in a van, their passion and talent exceed their means to survive. An enigmatic stranger sees their true potential and emotionally manipulates them during a time of weakness. Caught in the middle of a Faustian deal, their music and controversial altercations end up influencing society beyond anything this century has seen, but can they take back control of their destiny before it’s too late?” Interesting!
Rob Zombie has posted the lyric video for his new single, “Well, Everybody’s F***ing In A U.F.O.” It’s the first track from his forthcoming new album, The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser, due Apr 29th. Rob is working on the video he filmed for the song as we speak. According to Blabbermouth, Rob has talked about the album, which was recorded with his band guitarist John 5, drummer Ginger Fish, bassist Piggy D and produced by Chris “Zeuss” Harris.
Says Rob Zombie: “This album is the best thing we’ve done to date, and we can’t wait to share it with you. No, we mean it. It’s the most fucked up thing we’ve ever done. We spent so much time putting this monster together and it’s been worth it because this thing is about to explode! The album is out on April 29th, but there is a lot of shit going on in the lead-up to the release, so check out the pre-sale, get involved in the discussions and check back here for updates regularly! This bitch is moving forward FAST, and it’s a train you don’t want to fucking miss. Oh, and if you don’t believe how fucked up this album is, take a look at the track listing below. Shit gets weird.”
