Dear Mother Nature, you SUCK! Today, I am pulling out the balacalva face mask. I do not mess around when it’s 2 degrees…..Really bummed to read the news that the equipment truck carrying all of the Foo Fighters essential gear headed toward a charity show in New Zealand was involved in a serious accident. The equipment was basically destroyed and a crew member has also been injured. The show also had to be cancelled. New gear is being flown in from Los Angeles so the rest of the tour can go on. Australia and New Zealand are bracing for bad hurricane-type storms, as well. Ugh. Nice!…Pulse Of Radio reports on Feb 09th, Metallica played a show hosted by Salesforce.com at Pier 48 in San Francisco. The band previously played at the cloud computing company’s annual convention in 2011 (guitarist Kirk Hammett is friends with Salesforce.com’s CEO, Marc Benioff). The clip includes footage of the band warming up and “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)” from the show. In other news, Metallica recently teamed up with ski manufacturer Armada to create the band’s own branded line of skis. The group said in a statement, “It’s no secret that three quarters of the band enjoy our snow sports ([guitarist] Kirk [Hammett] is sticking to the water for now!) so we’re excited to announce that we have hooked up with Armada to create a line of Metallica skis for you to cruise around the mountains on.” The second annual edition of Kirk Hammett’s horror-themed Fear FestEvil, a music and memorabilia event will take place on April 10th, 11th and 12th in San Jose, CA. Metallica is also reportedly working on its 10th album in between all its other projects, which is slated to come out late 2015 / early 2016. It will follow up 2008’s Death Magnetic….Boston radio station WAAF spoke with STP guitarist Dean Deleo and drummer Eric Kretz about their upcoming new music and tour. Speaking about the new Stone Temple Pilots material the band has been recording over the course of the past few weeks, Dean said: “Although we’ve been trying for many, many years to get away from ourselves, we always keep coming back to our same spot — that person in front of the mirror. It kind of sounds like us. It’s not anything we’ve… I’d like to think it’s not anything we’ve done before; we definitely don’t wanna repeat ourselves. It’s just about kind of stumbling and writing some new musical terrain we haven’t really explored before. But it’s definitely R-A-W-K-I-N. Rawkin’.” Added Eric: “When we were writing these songs, it was just, like, ‘Man, what gets us off on stage live?’ We wanna make sure that it has those elements where we’re excited not just to present a good song, but something that has great performances on all our parts and something that the audience can just really enjoy.” The band’s tour, which kicks off in April, will be donating money for Music For Relief, with money ear-marked for Hurricane Sandy victims in New Jersey, where the Deleo’s grew up.
