One more day til the Rock On The Range festivities begin! Exciting! Can’t wait to see all the bands, especially my Korn boys! Been too long! ARE YOU READY?!!!!!
FINALLY! The Pulse Of Radio has some news on my beloved Foo Fighters! Frontman Dave Grohl debuted a new song on Monday night (May 15th) at the Acoustic 4 A Cure benefit show in San Francisco. Grohl, backed by Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins and longtime collaborator Rami Jaffee, sang a tune called “The Sky Is A Neighborhood,” introducing it by saying, “I figured on the way up here, I thought we would play a new song. We’ve never played this before to anybody.” It’s unclear if the song will appear as an official release on an upcoming Grohl or Foo Fighters project.
Grohl was filling in for Metallica’s James Hetfield at the Acoustic 4 A Cure show, which has been put on for four years by Hetfield and Sammy Hagar. Hetfield is on tour and was unable to appear this year. The event raises money to fund pediatric cancer research at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Other performers this year included Pat Benatar, Mick Fleetwood, Sarah McLachlan, Steve Vai and Bob Weir.
Foo Fighters released their last album, Sonic Highways, in Nov 2014, accompanied by an eight-part HBO series that documented the band’s travels around the U.S. to record the disc in several historic studios.
Grohl told us a while back it’s important to him that the band keep changing things on each new record: “The best thing about being in a band and making music is doing as many things as possible and exploring as many different musical regions as you can get your hands into. And it’s important for every artist to explore that or just take a stab at it. Records should be things that are important to the artists as well as the people.”
Foo Fighters will play on May 28th at the Bottlerock festival in Napa Valley, California before heading overseas for a string of shows.
Speaking of Papa Het earlier, Don’t get him started about the Oakland Raiders moving down to Las Vegas. Just don’t get him started, TMZ Sports. Funny, I knew exactly where he was walking….down 7th Avenue in NYC towards his manager’s offices. Hi Justin!
James is an avowed Raiders fan, told TMZ he’s “still a little pissed” about the team’s plans to relocate to Las Vegas. But the singer/guitarist insists that he “will support” the squad as they head to their new home in Nevada. Hetfield, who publicly supported a plan to finance and construct a new stadium for the Raiders in the Bay Area, told a TMZ cameraman, “I’m excited (for the new football season). I’m just still a little pissed about the whole money thing and the move.”
Asked if he still supports the Raiders, Hetfield said, “I mean, I supported them going to L.A. and back, so . . . You know, I grew up with the Raiders, so that’ll be how it is. I will support ’em, I’m sure.”
NFL owners in late March approved the team’s move to Las Vegas. According to casino industry estimates, a NFL team in Las Vegas will bring 800,000 additional people to the city annually and generate $620 million in annual economic activity.
Metallica just launched its first North American tour in seven years last week, and plays tonight (May 17th) in Uniondale, NY. Meanwhile, enjoy!
STEVIE D, KEITH NELSON, JOSH TODD, KELLY LEMIEUX, XAVIER MURIEL No more BUCKCHERRY
Oh, I am sorry to read this today. The Pulse Of Radio says veteran California rockers Buckcherry have parted ways with guitarist Keith Nelson and drummer Xavier Muriel, according to Blabbermouth. Replacing them on the band’s summer tour dates will be Kevin Roentgen and Sean Winchester respectively. Nelson co-founded the band in 1995 with singer Josh Todd, with Nelson’s exit leaving Todd as the only original member still in the group.
Buckcherry went on hiatus in 2002 but Nelson and Todd reactivated the band three years later. Nelson told us at the time how much he appreciated their partnership: “Finding someone that I’m compatible with musically and personally has been really the hardest thing to find. So I think the time away for me made me appreciate Josh a lot more, and it also made me appreciate that there really aren’t any real big deals, you know. And it’s really about enjoying what we’re doing, having fun, and keeping the lights on at the house while we’re doing it.”
Muriel was not an original member of the group but had been a part of the lineup since its 2005 reformation. Todd and Buckcherry guitarist Stevie D. recently launched a new group called Josh Todd & The Conflict. Their debut album is scheduled to arrive in September. Stevie wrote in a statement, “As most of you may already also know, Buckcherry has recently gone through some big changes . . . we wish the very best for Keith and Xavier in all of their future endeavors. Buckcherry’s latest album, Rock ‘N’ Roll, came out in 2015. A digital deluxe edition was issued in January of last year.
Gotta dash! Have a great day!
