So freaking hot in NYC. I am staying put in my little dark airconditioned abode. I am like an ice cube. Put me in the sun, and I melt down. I can’t take the heat. Gimme one hour of winter, sub-zero temps, blizzard. Thank you!
You should know by now, Corey Taylor ain’t takin’ no BS and he’s got his eye on you! The Pulse Of Radio reporting the Slipknot frontman was at it again last Tuesday night (Jul 19th) when he had a concertgoer ejected from the band’s concert in Toronto. Fan-filmed video footage showed Taylor pointing at someone in the crowd and saying into the mic, “You don’t show me s**t, you little p**sy.” Within 15 seconds, security escorted the person out, with Taylor waving and saying, “Bye bye, bitch.” He later called the person a “c**t” on Twitter and explained that he has been “doing this too long to deal with that disrespect.”
According to Loudwire, one user on Slipknot’s Reddit page claimed the fan was hurling insults at Corey and flipping him off, while another wrote that the man was attacking people in the crowd for no reason.
Taylor made headlines earlier this month when he smacked the phone out of the hand of a texting fan during a recent Slipknot concert. The singer later explained his action by tweeting, “If you’re gonna text, stay home.”
Taylor recently discussed his dislike for people using their phones at concerts in an interview with Detroit radio station WRIF, saying, “So many people have their faces glued to their phones . . . get off your phones and pay attention to what the hell you’re doing.” Slipknot’s summer North American tour with Marilyn Manson continues tonight (July 26th) in Bristow, VA.
Alter Bridge has released a new song called “Show Me A Leader,” the first single from the band’s upcoming fifth album, The Last Hero. The song was released digitally on Tuesday (Jul 26th), while the new disc will be available on Oct 7th. Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy said about the track, “‘Show Me A Leader’ is a reflection of how polarized and fractured things are in our society. This song doesn’t push an agenda; it simply expresses a very common sense of disillusionment people seem to be feeling at this point in time.”
The Last Hero, Alter Bridge’s 4th studio album, was once again produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette in Orlando, FL. Expect to be on the hotLine with Mark Tremonti or Myles or both soon!
We asked Kennedy a while back if writing such dark lyrical material was a form of therapy: “Oh absolutely. In fact, it saves you so much money in therapy costs, you know (laughter). It’s like, you can go to a counselor or you can just write a song and purge all your problems.”
Alter Bridge is currently on the road through late August as special guests of Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin and Saint Asonia. The tour stops on Tuesday night in Clarkston, MI.
Godsmack: Robbie Merrill, Tony Rombola, Sully Erna, Shannon Larkin
On Thursday, 1/2 of Godsmack will drop by the hardDriveRadio Studios, but not to promote Godsmack. Tony Rombola and Shannon Larkin, guitarist and drummer for Godsmack, have a new blue band, The Apocalypse Blues Revue, coming out next month and they will be by to promote the new disc.
Meanwhile, Godsmack will enter the studio in early 2017 to begin work on the follow-up to 2014’s 1000 Horsepower album, according to an interview guitarist Tony Rombola did with Fargo, ND radio station Q105.1 this past weekend. Asked if the band had any new music on the horizon, Rombola said, “Not this year. We’re gonna start at the beginning of next year.”
Singer Sully Erna told us not long ago that the band’s next studio effort will be an evolution for Godsmack: “Even as we start to write the new music, I really think the new record is gonna be a reflection of where we’re at in our lives now. I think it’s gonna be a lot more uplifting, a lot more neutral rock music. Not metal, you know, not — it’s not gonna be too classic rock, but it’s certainly not gonna be metal. And I think, you know, I think bands like the Foo Fighters do it great.”
Godsmack finished touring for 1000 Horsepower last year and played its only show of 2016 over the weekend at the Moondance Jam in Walker, MN. The band released a song called “Inside Yourself” last year, its only new musical output since the last album.
Erna is prepping for the release of Hometown Life, his second solo album, which will arrive sometime later this year and follow up his 2010 solo debut, Avalon.
They’re back, in love again!
So happy for these two! Ozzy Osbourne said in a new interview with ABC’s Good Morning America that his marriage to wife and manager Sharon Osbourne is “back on track,” just a few months after she allegedly discovered his affair with a celebrity hairstylist. Ozzy said about his 34-year marriage to Sharon, “Oh, it’s back on track again. You just, you make mistakes, and you learn by your mistakes, I think.”
He said the recent split with Sharon was a “bump in the road,” adding, “Some days it’s good, some days it’s terrible, some days you just drift apart for a while. But you get back on the horse, you know.” Sharon confirmed on yesterday on The Talk (Jul 25th) that she had reconciled with Ozzy, saying he was “ashamed” about his misconduct.
Sharon reportedly kicked Ozzy out of their home after discovering evidence of the affair — and possibly others – back in May. Although she initially said she was “seeing what it’s like living on my own,” she continued to oversee her husband’s career and the two were seen together relatively soon after news of the estrangement broke.
Ozzy’s son Jack appeared on ABC with his father, saying, “As a married person myself, you know, marriage is not, like, ‘Hey, we’re married. All is good.’ I mean, it’s just life.”
Father and son were on the morning show to promote their new travelogue reality series, Ozzy And Jack’s World Detour, which premiered Sunday night (Jul 24th) on the History Channel at 10 PM.
Ozzy is also in the midst of a year-long farewell tour with Black Sabbath. A new North American leg begins on Aug 17th in Wantagh, NY at Jones Beach Amphitheatre.
